Thank you so much. I just discovered your channel and I immediately got motivated and de-cluttered and organized my kitchen All thanks to you. It felt great. I’ve been working 14 hour days and I’m constantly exhausted. But I decided to rest this weekend and. DETOXED WITH GINGER ROOT TEA. DRANK LOTS OF WATER. AND GOT SERIOUS ABOUT DOWNSIZING. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I. EVEN PAMPERED MYSELF A LITTLE AT HOME. THANK YOU SO MUCH💕
“I’m going to have to reflect after this video.” Great sense of humor. We ALL love Pat, btw. Let her in. Most vloggers bug me when they stop and talk to or about their animal. YOU are my only exception. Talk to Pat all you want. Even seeing her sitting there trying to look innocent is worth coming to your videos.
This is the best advice I've listened to on youtube so far about "to do lists" and staying organized. By the time we write down all To Dos , they could have been done.
Hey guys, outside of routines, I'm down to 2-3 daily to-dos (connect/improve), so I don't have to write it down anymore! I've been trying to get to this point for three months, and it's worth it!
to-do's are borne of relationships. relationships with our objects (cleaning or maintaining them which becomes a to-do) or people (pick up tommy, or bring this item for jimmy, etc.). when you reduce the overhead of relationship management, to-do's naturally drop. i go to the dentist 4 times a year and i am very healthy. other appointments are also necessary such as eye care check for glaucoma, intestinal cancer check annually, and so on. these things are just a required part of making sure we age well. i see plenty of men and women in their 50s about to settle into their very own dowager's hump (severe calcium and bone mass loss, ear hairs growing out, nose hairs sticking out, letting themselves go) of sorts. they place priorities on stuff, not health. also, exercise alone with diet won't do it. medical monitoring on a very-scheduled degree really IS that important.
I've got the "I gotta" syndrome. I have such a huge place- 20 acres, house, workshop, pumphouse- it's difficult to prioritize. Recently my horse boarding neighbors approached me about leasing out a portion of my shop for storage. I was a bit put off, honestly. I'm using it for storage myself. But we had a look and yes, there was enough room for the stuff they have to store. The thing is, I had to move, rearrange and clean the space for them to have the space they need. They wanted to help, but no, that's my job. Thing is, it wasn't on my list of priorities. Now it moved to the top. The collection of tasks took about an hour. I was actually pleased with the results! Granted, I could have used the hour another way. But now the task is done, and I have a bit of extra income, and they have a safe place to store their belongings. A good outcome for all.:)
We should all find time to see a psychologist, or someone to talk to, and not just a “friend”, to improve and work on our internal dynamics. Don’t wait for something to go wrong to take a move and dont full yourself thinking you can easly do the same thing by yourself! Relationships make the difference in every circumstance.
“It’s not hard-it is just getting started.”-Melody. I always think the big things are going to be so hard that I dread them like business taxes, continuing education, over-hauling a messy room, finishing a book (I have 4 available ones and 3 that are in various stages of completions but still not yet published) these are the types of things I’ll avoid and when I finally do it I find it wasn’t as bad as I thought and didn’t take as long as I thought. I like an empty day planner. That makes me happy. If the only appointment for my week is a massage then I know that’s going to be a good week. And, I do have a clean house and get plenty of sleep and have plenty of free time.
Madame Strawberry I agree. These videos are always so full of novel ideas that I can rewatch them a few times. The pace is necessary to convey the amount of info shared, so I enjoy it too :)
This was a very thought provoking video cas someone who was raised to put enjoyment and rest last, after all the to do’s it’s refreshing finding out it doesn’t have to be that way. I feel so guilty when not taking care of my “responsibilities” but I’m really going to come back to this video again later. Thanks!
REALLY helpful. Have been feeling sooo scattered - fairly recent move across the US - having difficulty acclimating, prioritizing and organizing......patience. thanks Melody
Love this! Your enthusiasm is contagious. I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for always putting so much thought into why you do what you do and the most efficient way to get it done. -Lisa Stewart
Awww, love that Pat! But oh did she give you the stinkeye after removing her from the top of the table, and setting her down next to you! The daggers that shot from her eyes when she was looking at you from the other room through that open doorway -- classic cat language! hahahaha
Maybe you already found the answer, but I'm pretty certain it's the Daylio app. I've used it as a food diary in the past, and found it useful - I inputted the food or symptoms, and then I could just tap on the icons instead of typing every time.
I don't know if Melody's mentioned this in one of her videos but another youtuber recommended a book by Gretchen Rubin, it's about the 4 motivational tendencies. You can check out videos and articles online, or you can buy it or borrow from a library. Fortunately, it was available on my online library app. It's really helpful to figure out what will actually get you to complete a task.
I often have so many projects all calling for my attention, that it is hard for me to get going on them, feeling overwhelmed. There is so much I want to do and learn and try in this life, that I have a hard time paring it down. Where would you recommend starting? How did you start paring down your "to do" list?
Maybe Melody has already answered this in another vid. If you're still having issues with this, the following youtube vid from motivational speaker Mel robbins has helped me - it's called "How to Stop Feeling Overwhelmed". Maybe it will help you. th-cam.com/video/4zEBjqhwobA/w-d-xo.html
Love your channel! In the past you have mentioned using a credit card that pays 2% on everything. I've been doing research but cannot find a card like that. Can you share which card it is?
I'm just up randomly responding to people on this video. May as well help some people. She's talking about dividend/cash- back credit cards. You may have already figured this out. Check your bank's website for the different types of credit cards they have or go there directly and ask about it. The ones with higher cashback will have higher annual fees if any, so you can ask for them not to charge you for the first year or more. If you use these be careful not to use it for every little thing, just bigger expenses especially grocery. As banks know, it's really easy for people to overspend with a credit card as they can't see the money physically reducing, at the point of purchase.
Hi Melody Great tips!! Sorry off topic. Howz the weather from where you at compare to Oahu, Hawaii? Do you miss it here? My Family was thinking about moving to the mainland. Love Hawaii hard to leave but it's so expensive and barely getting by especially getting a house here. Please give me a feedback or reply so much appreciate it. Thank You for sharing.
Hey 808Blessed1, there's a lot of people who have moved to Franklin from Hawaii, but if you want similar weather, Dallas or San Antonio would be better. It gets colder here (0-40 degrees in the winter) than in TX, but it's beautiful in Franklin/Brentwood - green like in Hawaii. It only snows in TN once a year usually.
Thanks again for the input. The only place I went to is Las Vegas, Nevada for the weekend back in 2006 for my Sister in laws Baby baptizing. Went in December was really cold there. So if I ever move to the mainland. Just wanted to know which part of the mainland to go to. We was thinking about Texas or Nevada we'll see. I heard from other people that went and came back. Cuz they miss it here and it's very different at least they tried. Well I don't know about that just gotta see for myself one day. Much Mahalos!!🌸🌸
I feel the same way. She has a lot of great, useful information to share, and I would love to hear it...but I can't take all these points in, spoken at top-speed, at one time. No disrespect at all intended toward Melody, I honestly just wish this would have been broken into two more coherent videos instead of one.
100% agree. I like the info she's giving, but I feel "frantic" and slightly overwhelmed listening to this. I'm a bit of a fast-talker myself, too, but this was too much info in one vid and too fast to take in.
She might be ok for you then it is not problem but obviously not ok for a lot of people too. No need to mix the situation... If you are able to listen in a fast way then you can a lot more easily slower way!
if she talks slower, the video will double to 20 minutes in length. the avg. time a viewer spends on youtube is 30 mins. based on research. even i am stingy with my own time so clicking on longer videos is a no-no for the most part.

So happy to hear, Lisa! Here's to many more productive and satisfying days :)

I can’t even start to tell you how much this one video has helped me.

Connect. Rest. Improve.
Now THAT needs to be the byline on your website/branding, Melody. It's the essence of what you teach.
Gym. Tan. Laundry. GTL! I use that byline from jersey shore!
I appreciate your pace. You keep me engaged and so much good information in a short amount of time.
Madame Strawberry I agree. These videos are always so full of novel ideas that I can rewatch them a few times. The pace is necessary to convey the amount of info shared, so I enjoy it too :)
Cindy I watch them each day throughout the week to keep me motivated and get my Pat fix 😺
To Dos are a very necessary part of life, for everyone, but especially if you are a parent.

Thank you for your vids melody. They truly are life changing for me. God bless you.

I love the top you are wearing!
Great tips Melody thanks .I sincerely want to apply them to my life. I simply need to stop procrastinating!
Awww, love that Pat! But oh did she give you the stinkeye after removing her from the top of the table, and setting her down next to you! The daggers that shot from her eyes when she was looking at you from the other room through that open doorway -- classic cat language! hahahaha
Ahah she can be obstinate. She flicks her tail when she's disgruntled.
You mean that adorable 'stubby tail'?
Great Advice. May I ask what Calendar app your using on your mobile? Thank you.
Maybe you already found the answer, but I'm pretty certain it's the Daylio app. I've used it as a food diary in the past, and found it useful - I inputted the food or symptoms, and then I could just tap on the icons instead of typing every time.
youre such a great person with useful tips! i wish i could meet such positive and wholesome people like yourself. :D
Thanks, Brandon!
I love your videos! Your such a motivator and have great ideas!
Oh Melody, you make me smile ☺☺☺
Love starting my day watching your video, great tips ......have been applying your advice to my life as I enter my second year as a minimalist 😊
How do you follow through? I'm notorious for starting a million things and not finishing.

A lot of great stuff in this video. I'll have to watch it again and think about everything you said (and then, of course, act!). :-)
12:11 ... caption translates to “connect, rest and poop” ... guess that is important too ... smiling ...
Donna Hobson improve, not poop lol.

love your tips and ideas but pleaase slow down :)
I found that a lot to process, confusing. Saw a lot of other videos that were just fine but this one I found a bit messy

I love this channel but this video is a bit scattered and manic 😳

Melody! Hello!
Hello, Annie!
Always look forward to Sunday evenings. Thanks for the wonderful content!
Can you please talk slower? I cant catch your talk..
TH-cam Icin You can choose a slower play back speed.
yeah i tried it thanks. but still it sounds pretty fake. i would still prefer if a real person talks with normal speed..
100% agree. I like the info she's giving, but I feel "frantic" and slightly overwhelmed listening to this. I'm a bit of a fast-talker myself, too, but this was too much info in one vid and too fast to take in.

"How to Be Productive Without To-Dos "....then you say " I'm down to 2-3 daily to-dos "
Had to turn her off. This video is too stressful. Sheeesh.
Do u suffer from bi-polar disorder? You talk soooooooo fast.
if she talks slower, the video will double to 20 minutes in length. the avg. time a viewer spends on youtube is 30 mins. based on research. even i am stingy with my own time so clicking on longer videos is a no-no for the most part.
Laura Guillot Talking fast has no correlation with bipolar disorder. Js
Seriously?! 😧 How'd you make that connection.
