    I made a box out of1" foam big enough to cover the 1gallon can of epoxy resin and hardener. Bought from Amazon a heater matt used for heat in tanks for lizards for the bottom ofthe box to set epoxy on so tha i can have my epoxy ready to go at 70-80f in the winter months. Awesome videos bythe way. Been an airplane builder and design and build composit sailplanes, but this looks really fun!. I will be building a hydro following your videos.

    Drill the Bull Nose and use 1/8" wood dowels for alignment. Could have just added a couple 1/8" square stock top and bottom of the Bull Nose for the deck to sit on 1/16 down.

      Psst! Don't tell anyone, but it's a boat I built a few years ago and tested my 'curved floor' theory on! I've been wanting to build a new version of it ever since. New gasser, maybe?

    If I laminate 2 pieces of ply with epoxy, I spread the stuff out on both surfaces, give it a couple of minutes to soak, and then scrape most of the epoxy off before clamping the 2 pieces together. I've found that even such a little amount of epoxy still sticks like crazy and it helps prevent the ply from sliding around during clamping. I'm not building a hydro, but I am enjoying this build series!

      Hmm, maybe for lighter duty purposes. I used a single layer of epoxy on a bullnose of an earlier build and after a year of hard running it's showing signs of separating. Not gonna make that mistake again!

    • @M5PerfHydros
      @M5PerfHydros  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now that I think about it, it's possible that the separation happening on that earlier build is between the layers of the ply itself and not where I laminated it. Huh. Now I have to rethink your idea!

      @@M5PerfHydros Well, your glue sure held up, so that's a plus! 👍 Before I go, one other tiny thing: On all edges of plywood, I put a bead of the most runny CA glue I can find. Put it on, and wipe it off. It soaks directly into the wood fibres and helps prevent splitting and/or delamination. It might be OTT, but that's just me being OCD.

    Im a new face in your channel, Ive been a build it if I want it guy my whole life and have always been fascinated with the hydro thing. It has been a pleasure to watch a builder with real skills share with everyone. If I got into this I think I'd want to go just a little bigger is 1/4 scale a thing?

    • @M5PerfHydros
      @M5PerfHydros  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Crikey! If you're going to build it quarter scale you might as well ride in it!

    Why not just put in a filler strip (say 1/8 x 1/4 or 1/2 spruce) and file the defect with a little thickened epoxy?

    G'day. Me again. I just found the ML boatworks on your link's. I went into that and the mail issue has been sorted. Sorry to trouble you.

      That's great to hear! Shipping over there has been a real challenge over the years and it's nice to know it's been sorted out

    Would it not have been easier to add a ledger piece to the rear of the bullnose, inside the for/aft pieces only, allowing the deck and center section to land on. Leaving the bullnose in your original planned position.

      @M5PerfHydros  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll be honest here, I'm not sure what you're suggesting, sorry!

    G'day. I'm from Victoria Australi and found your series of video's by chance. I have been trying to get a hydro kit for ages and haven't been able to locate one anywhere. I went to ML boatworks and found all the boat kit's , that's great. BUT. Because of missing items they won't supply kits to Australia or New Zealand. Apparantly the kits go missing in the mail. Any clue's how I could lay my hands on one of these kit's please? I partiually want a kit to put a 28cc petrol 2 stroke engine in it.

    So what exact kit is this? Trying to find it on ML Boatworks site but there are many boats listed!

      The boat in the thumbnail pic of this particular video and the boat in the build series are two different hulls. The Eliminator in the series is hull roster number 8721. Use the search function of the website and you'll find it

    • @M5PerfHydros
      @M5PerfHydros  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've used various mufflers over the years. Presently for gas I use QuickDraw, but for most of my nitro boats I make my own mufflers
