Thank you for this introduction to Estonia. The places you have shown are very beautiful. The landscape and shorelines of the countryside look very similar to what you might see here in Manitoba Canada where I live. Estonia’s architecture is wonderful, as well as everything looking crisp, fresh and colourful. I also noticed how clean (litter free) it appears to be. The spa where you ate looked amazing as well all the different foods you took pictures of. Made me hungry. It would be interesting to see how it looks in the summer. As an Finnish tourist, i agree. Tallin is great for couple of days. But i love the whole country. I usually take my RV and go around the country. This weekend we are back in the U.K. but we managed to travel a bit more abroad last year and have a number of foreign trip videos to intertwine into our other U.K. videos over the coming months. 😀
Thank you, it's a lovely video! I just wish you had visited in the summer. Tallinn is okay to visit all year round, though probably best aroud Christmas and then between late spring and early autumn. But unless you're lucky to be around when there's lots of snow and it is very cold and crisp (which can be magical), winters in Estonia tend to be gray, and the rest of the country is so much prettier and lovelier to visit between late May and late August. Also, apart from Tallinn, it really doesn''t get that busy as you're suggesting. Viljandi, the town I grew up in, is very quiet even in the height of summer - a real bliss - apart from the one weekend when the folk music festival is on. And even then it's nice. But I really appreciate you touring the country and showing that there's more to Estonia than just Tallinn. Thanks again!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback. We had wanted to go to Estonia for a long time, and this was the first time in a number of years a trip worked out with flights etc even if it was in February. Whilst it was quiet in parts and lots closed up for winter, we enjoyed it very much and were lucky with the weather most of the time. A great taste and left us wanting to come back in the summer. It is nice to hear Viljandi does not get as busy as we thought it might. Thanks for watching.
@@MemorySeekers Thank you for your reply! I sorry if I appeared to be critical, that definitely wasn't the aim. I just wanted to inform anyone watching this that Estonia can be prettier and not as gray at other times in the year. But I absolutely understand that with your busy schedule finding the time can be tricky, and with the lack of airlines flying there and a shortage of good accommodation available in smaller towns, winter trips can end up being quite a bit cheaper compared to the summer. Still worth visiting in the summer I think but planning/booking ahead is definitely recommended. Anyway, the most important thing is that you had a good time and enjoyed yourselves. All the very best in your future travels!
@@steadyeddie2718 Oh we did not find it critical, no worries there. We love to get different perspectives and it's helpful for others. You are right it is not easy to get flights to work from the UK. We will be back one day for sure. Thanks for the comments!
Very lovely. Looks so cold. Hope one day you do go back in the summer and give us a look. Great job as usual. I enjoyed very much. Hugs and blessings. Cloudy and cold in NETx. I think I am over winter. Lol but not ready for Tx heat either. Can’t please some people.
What a fantastic beauty 👏 amazing views & excellent introduction to one unknown of Estonia 🇪🇪like me, but right now i feel familiar with its charm, all because of your wonderful video.. I must appreciate your efforts in visuals perfection & extraordinary explanation 👌.. great video 📹❤👏
The old Teutonic Knights and Hanseatic areas of the Baltic (even after many devastating war episodes) still host a great many beautiful sights. Estonia has some of the very best of them though their tourism will no doubt be hit badly by recent events. Intriguing juxtaposition to contrast the view of Tallin in winter to our high summer visit a good few years ago guided by a local university lecturer with Masters in English Lit. et al - and possibly the most beautiful and stylish woman I've ever met. 😉
Thank you for a very lovely video guys! It did give me an insight about Estonia. Loved every minute of it from the views to the cobbled streets to the cathderal and the lovely park. Everything was done just beautifully. Dinner at Hansa was really nice, such an experience to have! Btw it did give me ASMR feels as well. Looking forward to the next one guys❤
Happy New Year and Thank You guys!! This was a terrific idea. No one ever thinks of the Baltic countries as a less expensive less crowded vacation spot. It has so much history. I hope you return in the Summer to explore more of the country especially the areas that are closed during the winter months. I'm curious to know how crowded it gets. Cheers from NYC!!!
Happy New Year! So glad you liked it. Tallinn has lots of cruise ships in the warmer months and that I believe can make the city very crowded from what I have read. The island is also popular in summer.
Less expensive, probably. Cheap, not so much :D Tallinn in particular, but Estonia as a whole these days is largely on par with the rest of Europe when it comes to the cost of hotels, eating out, bars and the like. Luckily, the level of quality is basically the same as well. It wasn't always the case, but then neither, for a long time, was it anywhere near as expensive, either.
@@MemorySeekers Saaremaa is very popular in summer primarily among 'locals', which is to say Estonians and Finns. It's best avoided at midsummer, when about half the country seems to try to get there every year, leading to huge waiting times for ferries and much higher costs for accommodation. Outside that peak period, however, getting and staying there is cheaper and relatively hassle-free.
This small country appears to be very rich in Medieval European history, architecture, heritage . The country looks open , peacful and ideal for tourism.
@@MemorySeekers Thanks, I can’t wait! Travel is food for the soul in my book! Look forward to more of your videos. I especially love the fact that you guys go to great places that are the stock standard sun sand and surf summer beach destinations, as I love cold weather and always travel to places in their autumn and winter! Love it! Happy travels, Marg
The old towns there are wonderful, and full of beautiful architectural detail. Reminds me of Austria. I adore very, very old buildings turned into restaurants. Ambience galore. Thank you for sharing a variety of locations, so we can understand more about the country. I feel very cold after watching, lol. Here in So CAL we freak out if there is a bit of frost on the lawn at 5am in the winter. :) I noticed a number of signs and store names in English. Do shop-owners, waitstaff, etc. in the business areas seem to speak English?
In Tallinn, english is well spoken and on the Island as well, but in the smaller towns we visited it was harder to communicate and menus are in local language. Still you find a way to communicate!

Great! Two quibbles. Like many Estonian words, Viljandi is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable. BTW, it is my mother's home town. In Tartu. the section of the cathedral that the museum uses was actually built back up in the 19th century. Previously, it had been a ruin, like the other half. The area around the cathedral is now a park and is lovely in the summer time. But it was once Tartu's old town, and looked very much like Tallinn old town. None of that remains. Peter the Great totally destroyed this (blew it up) during the Great Northern War in the early 18th century. He also had the university closed and it remained closed for around 100 years. Indeed, after a siege, the city of Tartu was pretty much wiped out by Russians in the Great Northern War. The great Peter did not want a city there as it might compete with his spanking new St. Petersburg. The top of the hill around the ruined cathedral was made into a park in the 19th century. It also is home to one of the most historic observatories in Europe.
In my opinion it’s time to let Estonia be a nice small Nordic country. Estonia very deserves to be a Nordic country, because Estonia has done a lot of work, we have many smart people, we are good at digital things, we have northern lights and we are very similar to Finland and other Nordic countries like: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Greenland. We are not similar to Latvia and Lithuania and the other Eastern Europe countries. It’s time to stop calling Estonia Eastern Europe country and Baltic country and forget all this terrible, rude and mean Soviet times. Let’s just stop this Eastern Europe and Soviet stigma thing and let Estonia turn the new page and let them be a normal small Nordic country next to Sweden and Finland!!! Estonians call themselves the Nordic country and many other people and tourists had also said that Estonia should be a Nordic country, because Estonian people are Finnic people not Balts and we are more similar to Scandinavia. Yes many people had agreed with that Estonia must belong to the Nordic group and seperate from Latvia and Lithuania. They don’t even need these countries, because Estonians communicate more with Finns and other Scandinavian countries. Estonia will be a very good partner for the other Nordic countries. We will do a very great work and we will be very strong!!! ☺️🙏

Nice country , but we're are all the people..and not many car's... distinct lack of support for Ukraine I noticed...not surprisingly being formally a part of Russia!!.💕🇬🇧🇺🇦
If you read the news then you should know that per population Estonia is spending far more than any nation in the world on supporting Ukraine. And that's not just the governement, a huge amount is done by volunteers. Support isn't just about waving the flags shouting on the streets, it's about doing something real. The Russia comments is actually very offensive to most Estonians who consider Russia as the enemy, who are very much west-leaning and as I said, do much more than most to support those who Russia oppresses. As to the country looking empty, when the weather is cold and skies are gray Estonians tend to stay indoors. It's different when the sun comes out. That said, it's also one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe so you'll struggle to ever feel crowded there, even in the summer.
You are actually talking nonsense. Did you not notice the Ukrainian flags at 23:40 and 27:21? Estonians are the biggest supporters of Ukraine in the World. Which is *not* *surprising* *being* *formerly* *a* *part* *of* *Russia.*

Beautiful video 😍
Thanks 🤗

Absolutely stunning. Thank you for this adventure through some of Estonia. Gorgeous camera work!
Thank you very much!
When you were walking towards the castle in Kuressaare, it felt like being a character in Skyrim (^_^)
Your videos are always great & learning about the places. Hi from upstate New York.
Ah thank you so glad you think so. Hello from London!
You should definitely explore Southern Estonia in the depth of summer. It has its own magic😊 Võrumaa, Otepää, lake Pühajärv etc.
We would love to do a summer trip sometime. Thanks for the tips.
One extreme to the other I am sure neither are that pleasant. Still the inbetween is coming ! 😊
Nuostabus miestas ir nuostabi šalis ❤️👍
What a fantastic beauty 👏 amazing views & excellent introduction to one unknown of Estonia 🇪🇪like me, but right now i feel familiar with its charm, all because of your wonderful video.. I must appreciate your efforts in visuals perfection & extraordinary explanation 👌.. great video 📹❤👏
Thank you very much!
Hi Linda, thank you for sharing your thoughts. So pleased you enjoyed it so much. Its a very underrated country. 😊
Lovely!
Thank you
Happy New Year and Thank You guys!!
Thank you very much 👏👏👏 its a lovely Video ❤
This small country appears to be very rich in Medieval European history, architecture, heritage . The country looks open , peacful and ideal for tourism.
Looks like you had stunning weather, lucky you. I’m heading there this September so I hope I am as lucky! Cheers from Australia
Well it certainly will be warmer! Have fun.
Love it! Happy travels,
Marg
Well done.
Thanks!

We will one day, loved it in winter.
I would also mentione other places to visit in Estonia: city of Pärnu, Viru bog, Endla bog, lake Peipsi in summer time; city of Hapsalu, city of Narva, Estonian National Museum in Tartu, Rakvere castle, Keila joa waterfall
Great tips thank you 😊

27:38 ah, i can relate, i had PE in about -17 celsius and we went up and down those very stairs
Now from Sweden ineed to move there estland nice so Beutiful 😮❤
Quibbles are fine 😀thank you for the information very interesting. 😊
Thank you very much for an interesting video.👏❤️ Why are there no Polish subtitles?
I just checked and we do have them?
Hello, one correction, the Olympic sailing regatta did not take place in the Tallinn City Hall as you indicated, but in the Pirita, Pirita Olympic Sailing Center, approximately 4 kilometers from the City Hall as a bird's eye view
Oh thank you for this, I was convinced I had read it was there. That is why we walked to it!

@@MemorySeekers But what happened in City Hall - was Christopher Nolan filming Tenet.
I remember when american series called Monk did an episode about mentioning estonia , I think it was that episode where he snacked and one breadcrumb between the keyboard deleted some information off the computer, practically all case files.
Should visit Vosu in summer, so packed you cant find a place to park
Interesting thing about the amber is, that almost none of it is found on the shores of Estonia, but further south in the other baltic countires
My friend is from there and her father is a pastor in church ⛪️

Filming isn't allowed inside Orthodox churches? That may be true of the Orthodox churches in this video, but it's certainly not true of all Orthodox churches. You can find tons of videos of Orthodox services here on TH-cam.

City so small,in China it will be qualify as a village not a city
Я здесь родился был эстонский город, а теперь украинский.
Your comment is loaded with bovine excrement.
Nice country , but we're are all the people..and not many car's... distinct lack of support for Ukraine I noticed...not surprisingly being formally a part of Russia!!.💕🇬🇧🇺🇦
This is Spring 2021 footage, based on some posters in the video. Local people are at work and there were less tourists due to C19.
This was late feb 22 but still less tourists around.
Plenty of support for Ukraine.
