Ciao beautiful people, hope you are well and safe. Today I want to share a quick recipe to make your own XXL gelli plate 😍it will save you lots of dollars 💰 if you liked the video, please 👍🏻thank you ❤️
I love the gelli plates! Finally made a round one, and I'm playing with it; hadn't thought about using the bubbles that form as a texture, though. I might have to make another one just to try that, lol. Lovely results, hope to see more gelli printng. Thanks for sharing, take care!
Such a great idea to make your own gelli plate. Thanks for that. I want to try it sometime but not just now. My aim at the moment is to use up my stash before creating more papers etc!
@@AntonioMakes thank you so much, I hope you enjoyed it. I really liked your video and so happy you left me a comment so I could find your channel and subscribe. Take care Antonio and wishing you a great day 😊
They are expensive to buy but the ones you buy are vegetarian/vegan friendly. I have just had a new plate for my birthday because I'm doing the collab with Crafty Michelle. I would love to make a huge gelli plate. Maybe it is possible with agar agar or something similar. I should investigate. I love your gelli prints. My favourite technique on the plate is using bubble wrap. Thanks for sharing 💗
Hey Steph, unfortunately the gelatine powder is coming from Beef, so it’s not vegetarian. I’m sure you can use vegetable alternatives, the agar agar is easy to find but I would do a small trial to see how much you need to make the plate set properly. Have a Faboulous evening ❤️😍xxx
Lovely tutorial, Antonio. Bubble wrap is one of my fave things to use 😀Thank you for the mention. I bought a large tin a couple of years ago to make an extra large Gelli plate but haven’t done it yet. I do love my round ones though and they’re all fun to make aren’t they? Tfs. Hugs, Auntie Dee 🎨👩🎨🥰💐☮️
Great idea Antonio. What happens if you let the gel set in a smaller container like an 8x8 cake pan? Would the gel set? Love the papers you made especially love your colour combos. They look like honeycombs full of honey.
Unfortunately homemade gel plate does not come close to the quality of the commercial one. Especially if we're taking big size. I tried both and I end up almost never using a home made one because it doesn't transfer the paint to paper as well as the store bought...I mean even from the video you can see that most of the paint ends up sitting on the plate and not transfer to paper :(
Very strange way to make a gelli plate. First, use a tray that has no channel or name of manufacturer on it, as it’s the completely flat bottom side that’s always going to be the best. If you don’t heat the mix properly, the gelatine won’t dissolve properly, and therefore the final plate will be very cloudy, as this one, and also too floppy. Also, the plate probably won’t keep for very long. My own are over 5 years old, and still perfect. It’s important to make enough of the mix to pour to at least a good half inch thick, as well. And any stirring should be done slowly, to avoid bubbles within the gelli plate. A few on the top don’t matter, as it’s the underside touching the tin that is used. Another reason for heating the mix properly, is that the clarity of the plate will mean you can see your colours clearly, as you can lay the plate on a white background. There are lots of good easy recipes on TH-cam and the internet. If you’re a vegan, there’s vegan gelatine available on Amazon.
Is it clear these plates don't include phtalates? Don't like any product that wont state the ingredients on packaging (as far as I know a requirement in my country). Plastisol a liquid moulding material to make squiggly fishing lures is phtalate free (bc dudes are serious about their hobbies?) and clearly stated, can be bought by the gallon even. Not as cheap as gelatin but non perishable, wont mould or dry out, and where I live buying Gelli plates cost at least three times as much as Stateside (VAT and shipping is more costly than the product). Just putting this out there 😉
@@AntonioMakes that's interesting! I'd be interested to know what your different Gelli plates list as their ingredients, as the vary in fabrication country and manufacturer. I'd appreciate it! 🙏

Hey Pam, yes of course. I would half the quality otherwise it would get too thick. The consistency will harden up anyway 😊have some fun!
Could you list ingredients in cups and spoons please? 🤩
Good maker
Thank you so much !

Totally agree with you. But it’s a great way to enjoy a gelli plate for a beginner that hasn’t got a budget to buy it 😊
👍🏻

All the products I have used stated the ingredients in the packaging 😊
