Your fabric, when made with blue threads running across and white up and down, when a thin "weight" fabric is called chambray. When "twill woven" and a heavier weight like jeans, is called demin. We have denim jeans, denim jean jackets, denim skirts, denim bags and backpacks, and denim caps. I hope this helps.
@@taylormcgahen7210 it's not easy to explain in a yt comment, but it's easier done than said, so sorry in advance for the way too long answer and try to bear with me if you like... The bowl cut bottom is never a good option, is a very sloppy method, and not only for the visible hems: remember, from elementary school, how circumference is calculated? all those annoying repeating decimals? well, all those little infinite fractions are really necessary to match measurements correctly, but almost impossible to approximate well enough, especially sewing bulk or stiff fabrics (like jeans, canvas and such). Technically, this method can work, but pretty much only the other way around: you cut the disc first, then measure the circumference and cut the side of the "cylinder" accordingly (which is not an option in this case, since you'll have either to find their exact same bowl, butcher the patchwork to adjust it to your disc, or loose it with tons of math to start the project with the 16 diamonds in the size that will fit your bowl... and either way it will be crazy, honestly) And if that was not enough already, sewing a straight piece of fabric on a curved one is kind of a hassle even for professionals, due to how fabric grain works (and trust me, it affects sewing, especially machine sewing, a lot!!!) As a result, you'll end with a crooked seam all around your (not so) circular bottom, and a lot of minuscule but very very evident (and also awful looking) pinches where you struggled matching the edges of fabric, or where they manage to escape in each direction under the pressing foot, despite your best efforts to keep them in place. So, if I should sew something like this, this is how I would proceed. First of all, I wouldn't have cut off the bottom "triangles". Instead I'd used them for a boxed bottom (it's a basic technique, there are thousands of tutorial on how to "square" a purse/bag bottom). I'd have stopped with the patchwork as it was at 6:13 and used it as a template to cut a matching shape in the lining fabric. At this point, I'd have sewn the last side to form the body of the bag (notice that on that last seam you'll miss the topstitch. I personally don't love it, but it's unavoidable using this technique, so to make it less evident this seam should be oriented to be as hidden as possible: keep it in mind while threading the grommets with the chain) and the box squared bottom in both outer fabric and lining. Then I'd have matched outer fabric and lining (and you can either cut the upper "triangles" or leave the hem "scalloped", it's a personal preference, but of course it will be a little more work in the second case), leaving a few inches open to turn the bag inside out. Then it will only last to iron the seam and topstitch the edge. Oh, and I don't really agree with how the jeans part of the shoulder belt was added: those three handstitches will hold 30 seconds after you wear the bag, then miserably collapse for the traction. Instead, try to insert a small D ring carabiner on both sides of the jeans strap, like a giant key fob, and clasp them on both ends of the chain. I hope this is helpful, understandable without being patronizing (english is not my native language, and sewing involves a lot of technicalities) and not overly boring 😊
@@taylormcgahen7210 You're welcome. 😊 I'm a tailor and a costume maker, and this was a little too bordering 5 minutes craft to my tastes, so I felt it was fair to point out what was ben omitted in the video, but making one on my own?
Pretty! Clever construction, I would double sew all the seams as books etc have a habit of finding weak spots and we all carry more than the bag is designed for, plus push the chain through the shoulder/hand strap not sew it at the ends, and pad the strap, join the chain inside the strap so it is hidden.
Whoever reading this comment I pray that you always stay blessed with your lovely family and may your all good wishes come true.. I work hard for my food channel but I'm sad because I don't get a good response, I don't want to be disappointed,..!!! /// 😭
I wish you the best but if you have a food channel, read and leave comments like "This is great and if you have time, please check out mine" on other food channels. This way you are complimenting the host, being a positive voice, and politely asking to be checked out. This is a sewing channel which is not your target demographic. Again, I wish you the best and happiness and aim for those who like to cook.
Try to do it by yourself, this is a simple one 😉 but if you really need a pattern just say something here, I'm a pattern maker and can make this and send you in real scale ready to print in pdf format.

That is really cute, my only but is the bottom of the bag could be attached differently, so the raw edges are not visible on the inside.
I'm going to be attempting this within the next few days, how would you attach the bottom?
