    We are currently using it and it works great, with rings on front door and back door of the house. We are utilizing five echoes in the house. To control the lights and rings. It’s really helpful because my wife is in a wheelchair. Your videos are very instrumental in me setting up my smart home. Thank you for all your videos.

    Can you use them as a chime?

  • @tawilliams
    @tawilliams 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would love to see them add an additional routine option. I can see where when there's motion it turns on an inside light so you don't walk into a dark house or when the doorbell rings to turn on a porch light. I don't however want to turn on lights in the middle of the afternoon, so a routine option to only do it from sunset to sunrise would be great. This would probably be helpful on other routines too.

    • @djerniet350
      @djerniet350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could set that up in the alexa app as a routine. i setup a ringa alarm motion sensor in my garage. In alexas i setup a routine to say "someone is in the garage" if the motion sensor senses motion. So you can setup a routine in alexa to turn on a light when the ring doorbell's motion triggers. you need to have the lamp or lights on a smart plug or smart light switch. good luck

    • @tawilliams
      @tawilliams 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Djernie T I have it set up like that, what I’d like is the ability to set routines to sunrise and sunset. This way the motion doesn’t turn on the light when it’s already light outside. I’ve manually set times but summer and wither times will be drastically different. Not sure if I’m explaining this well.

    • @djerniet350
      @djerniet350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi! Thanks for the helpful video. I just have one question, if you, or somobody here, know. Does this doorbell has a function that, when the person rings the doorbell, he "receives" a small sound as a response? For example, it is Christmas time, and when my visitors ring the bell on my frontdoor, the are going to hear christmas bells or a christmas soundtrack, while they are waiting for me to open the door. Thank you very much!

  • @brittanyperry8653
    @brittanyperry8653 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So Craig I have a question I can't figure it out on my own. So when I first set up my ring doorbell every single Alexa device in the house would make a sound and then say someone's at the front door when it only senses the motion. Now I figured out how to stop it from doing that in the settings like you showed us. And when somebody presses the button they all announce which that's what I want cuz they're far enough apart anyways. But for some reason when the doorbell senses motion they all would just make a chime sound which it was okay. But then all of a sudden only one is doing it now and even though I don't really care because I really only want to be notified on my echo devices if somebody rings the doorbell because the app itself lets me know about the motion anyways. But it's just driving me crazy not to understand why only one is chiming now Even though I shut off motion announcements none of them should be making any noise.

    Can you use an echo dot to sound the alarm of a ring security system?

  • @sherrybrown5335
    @sherrybrown5335 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Also works for the Ring cameras, in Alexa app go to devices, pick camera icon it brings up all cameras associated with Alexa, then pick your camera, you'll see announcement devices it'll say # of echo devices, pick that and it'll bring up all your devices. Then just touch what devices you don't want the announcement on. Do that to all your cameras. Now the household won't be blasted at 2 a.m. when the dog goes out to pee in the back yard.

    • @tawilliams
      @tawilliams 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use it without a subscription but it will not save your events to the cloud. I thought about not doing the subscription but since it was only $30 a year that was a reasonable price. I got a free 30 day trial period to see how it works before spending the $
