    I am not sure why either one of these players would sign an offer sheet to go to a team that is years away from making the playoffs vs. the team they are on which is favoured to win the cup. Money is one thing but any player who would make that choice is probably better off not on your team.

    Holloway being a Calgary native, might be a suitable fit.

    This could happen if they weren't on a cup contender. Broberg and Holloway are in solid roles now and I would think would want to win the cup over some money. They are still early in their career where they can still make a lot of $$ in the next few years.

    Not really that big of a story, there is better RFA to go after than those two ..
    Carolina is a good example not to go after a team due to spite. Remember Kotkaniemi? Pepperidge farm remembers.

    The problem with offer sheets are that what goes around comes around, teams know that it’s fair game to offer sheet the next player Calgary would have for. Also they know they will have pretty good roles with Edmonton to inflate their next contract. Oilers create the most scoring chances in the league by a very wide margin but they had the 32nd in finishing last season. Also Broberg is getting a top 4 role on a contender guaranteed. It’s gotta be in the 4.5 million range to pry them away they also would have to give up a 1st and a 3rd and any team that’s in the bottom can’t afford that.

  • @Skynertia
    @Skynertia 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Not sure why either of them would sign just to move a couple hours away to a much worse team. Also for the amount they're actually worth Edmonton could just match. They are just two players with a decent chance at becoming locks in the top 6 and 4 in a couple years. It would strike me as kind of pathetic if Calgary lowered themselves to using the offer sheet system just to overpay for Edmonton's scraps.

    Its a pointless conversation.
    Neither player would even consider signing an offersheet to leave a contender for that dumpster fire in Calgary. Unless a contender offersheets them, they arent signing one

    In order for Edmonton not to match an offer sheet, Calgary would have have to offer at least 2.5 to 3 mill a year. In terms of compensation, that's a 2nd round pick. It will be a high 2nd, might as well be a high 1st.

    You could deffeinetly screw the oilers over by offer sheeting them. Edmonton is probably looking at 2.5 for Broberg and 1.5 for Holloway. How much are you going to need to go over that to get them. For calgary they are rebuilding so why would they givevup the picks?
    It would make the most sense for the Canucks to do it as it would directly harm our competition for getting to the western final. Don't think we will though.

    Lmao, players gotta sign them and if Broberg and/or Holloway want to go to Calgary then let them. Oilers are building something special and if they want to be short cited and chase dollars at this point then let them go and recoup the draft picks.

  • @KptKrunch9481

    Yep - Calgary could offer one or both 4m and change for a 2nd round pick, and that's a pretty good deal for them since they have the cap space. But IMO - it would be a really dumb move for either player to sign it. If I were their agent - I'd tell them to hold out for UFA - sign a 1 or 2 year bridge (whichever one gets you to arbitration) and if Oilers win the Cup, and you (Broberg/Holloway) were a significant part of that Cup team, now you're getting that 4m+ contract in arbitration and if the Oilers can't match you are now a UFA and can sign ANYWHERE! Going to Calgary right now is probably not in the cards for either - as you signed for 4m - for 1 year, team sucks, you look bad on it - so much for big money in UFA

      @@Dawg476 Yep and we know how that turned out don't we? I'm assuming You're taking a shot at the Oilers here for offer sheeting Penner over 14 years ago, and ignoring the Carolina offer sheet 3 years ago for Kotkaniemi as that would be just too obvious huh? HOw about when that ahole of player Jamie McCoun broke Dale Hawerchuk's ribs in the playoffs - not that it did the Flames any good as the Jets still kicked their a$$ - but how relevant is any of these statements?
