    I'm looking to do this mod on my MKII cabinet and noticed everyone modding the spade connectors or buying .187 connectors and crimping them on. Isn't there a HAPP encoder that has the correct wire connections already? If so, this should be as fast as installing the Sanwa style set.

      When I made this video (and the How to mod video) I didn't realize they DO sell connectors that fit the Happ buttons. The process is the same, minus manually opening the connectors to fit lol. These should just slip right on. amzn.to/35c1iy2

    Hi, I have a question, how do you configure your buttons to be exactly as the input of the arcade?

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It all depends on the game. For Killer Instinct, the button layout is basically left to right, top to bottom. Button 1 is top left, button 2 is top middle, button 3 is top right, button 4 is bottom left...etc. Mortal Kombat is more tricky, I can't remember the exact configuration but it took some trial and error to figure it out. I want to say its the same style as KI, left to right, top to bottom. So HP would be button one, HK would be button 2, Block would be 3, and so on. Maybe I'll do a video on this in the future. Do you have any specific games you're having trouble configuring?

    • @KillerArcadeGames

  • @gnastyg7798
    @gnastyg7798 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, 4 microswitches per joystick. The USB board has specific ports for up, down, left and right. Its a little confusing at first since its kind of backwards when you're wiring it up. You have to be sure to test it before closing it all up lol.

    I dig HAPP sticks- I find the Sanwa and Seimitsu's a bit flimsy. I haven't tried the Korean sticks which seem like an amalgamation of the different styles from what little I've seen. I do prefer Sanwa buttons, though.

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      These HAPP sticks are 1000% better than the stock ones that came on it. I couldn't pull off any special moves on Street Fighter. Sanwa's are good, I wanted the original look though.

    your video was mega helpful..Thanks for posting. I have been wanting to try the happ joysticks because some of the old school games don't seem to be user friendly with the sanwa joysticks..meaning games like paceman and Popeye, and original punch out don't seem to respond well when moving in the diagonal or straight side to side motion...So I'm hoping the happ ones work much better.

      It's the difference in gates. Octagonal gate worked best for all games to my liking. Square gate rotated to 4 way more works great for Pacman but sucks for Street fighter octagonal gate worked well for everything for me. Cost about $5 a piece. You can try others it a personal preference.

    I believe happ controls were the original controls that were in the original Killer Instinct machines but I heard since then the buttons and joysticks that used to be made in the United States are now made in China and they're okay but not really that great at all so I would probably put IL Euro sticks Bat Tops in instead because everyone says the IL euro stick bat tops are a lot better than any of the happ joysticks including their competition ones which are their best ones.

    • @KillerArcadeGames
      @KillerArcadeGames  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are the original controls for the cabinet, which is why I really wanted. I wanted to replicate the original as close as possible. I've never played on Japanese machines with the ball tops. I still think I'd prefer Happ.

    • @Charliemmafan

  • @MikeyJProductions
    @MikeyJProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Technically Happ no longer exists, it is now SUZO Happ, not exactly the same thing. Suzo bought the name Happ, and makes parts in China. The old Happ became Industrious Lorenzo (IL) for short. The IL Eurostick is the closest thing to the old Happ sticks. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure these sticks are good, but if you want to be "as close as possible to the original machine" IL Eurosticks are the way to go.

    • @ChrisCXK
      @ChrisCXK 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @MikeyJProductions
      @MikeyJProductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisCXK They "feel" the same, look the same, etc. But they are NOT the same. It's the actuator, the IL Eurostick uses the same actuator that the old Happs used. Suzo Happ's don't use them, they have a different one.
      At the end of the day, they are both good sticks. I'm sure the Suzo Happs work great, but the IL Eurostick is EXACTLY like the old Happs, just a different name.
