    I lived in Hulme in the sixties and saw it demolished and they built the crescents which were later demolished, I think these buildings are going to last a long time, they make Manchester look so modern and if you want old buildings just have a walk through the city center where there's some wonderful architecture

    This sort of development was going on in the 1930s in the USA. Europe doesn't really do skyscrapers but it is good to see such massive development. Moscow, St Petersburg. Istanbul, London. Paris and Frankfurt are the other major ones in Europe.

    As a Mancunian I have to say all these projects look superficially wonderful, however Manchester's transport logistics are a shambles. Closed, narrowed and restricted roads. Dreadful public transport and an obsession with "green" issues without realistic solutions. It means we will always drag behind other world (and indeed UK) major cities. What a pity.

    • @immortallvulture
      @immortallvulture ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I disagree, narrow rads are something almost every old city has to deal with and public transports second only to London.

    • @notreyf
      @notreyf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@immortallvulture Hi, many roads in Greater Manchester have been deliberately narrowed, like the corridor between Salford and Manchester City centre. A supposedly "green" council has deliberately created a constant line of choking traffic. As for public transport, it's expensive, unreliable and dirty. Public transport in London is subsidised and excellent, I have no idea if Manchester is "second", that means nothing.

    • @barbecueshoes9212
      @barbecueshoes9212 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These “green solutions” you insist aren’t the way forward have been pretty great imo. The Metrolink is super reliable and its recent expansions have made accessing places like Trafford Park from the city centre way easier.

  • @adrianjones4812
    @adrianjones4812 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It is nice to see spacious free flowing roads which keep a city alive in my opinion. Birmingham is getting very choked up with the reduction of it’s road infrastructure and it does not look or feel right. Some of the car parks I used have been demolished. I use the bus for the odd trip but a lot of the trips I used to do in the car for night shows or quick in and outs I do not do anymore which is less revenue for the city.
