those ipad things scare me, what if a drop of rain lands on it or a bit of beer and suddenly it slides the controls up , the venue fills with 5k of feedback and you are frantically trying to wipe off the screen which just messes up every possible setting. is there a system with a remote that has physical controls at least for the mix ?
All it needs is a sideways wind to push your gain on top tour stage... I think they got lucky on this setup... My friend at another small festival event however, well I think his passives have dried out a little now...
Hmmm. This is an awfully expensive setup! For 15 years, I've set up a PA system for social gatherings of our social group. Two SM58 mics, an Electrovoice powered stereo mixer, two Yamaha 15" passive speakers, a heavy Peavey stage monitor, and that is all! Has worked very well indeed! In fact all this equipment, 15 years later, is still going strong. We also keep a laptop connected to the mixer as people want pieces of music to accompany song and dance performances, using the 1/8" audio out jack via twin 1/4" cable/jacks to the mixer. Works quite adequately, really. Crutchfield has a few powered mixers, (only one has USB) of which I think Yamaha would be best: www.crutchfield.com/g_391050/Powered-Mixers.html?tp=63662 Our Peavey stage monitor, also 15 years old, weighs a ton, and is of poor quality so we're looking to get a lighter, better stage monitor. I have tried a Bose S1Pro as a stage monitor, worked fairly well. The advantage is the battery power and no need for a thick power extension cord. But I won't use it again; can't risk blowing it up. Stage monitors are still heavy beasts, and the Yamaha Club V SM12V seems a good one. Weighs 47 lbs, about $350.
It depends on how big of a party you are having. PA systems can definitely put out the most sound to cover the largest areas but you also sacrifice quality. Unless you need to cover a massive area or are planning on having live concerts you are probably better off with a more traditional outdoor speaker. You can always connect with one of our pro audio advisors to see if a PA speaker is right for your setup - you can reach them directly at 1-800-555-9369.
Hi Clinton, sounds like you're gearing up for some fun! Many of our systems do have a sub pre-out you can use to connect a subwoofer. We do have a Pro Audio Group available to help you choose the best match for your needs at 1.800.555.9369.
If you are asking for things that can go wrong, I'd say the more common issues is accidental muting of one audio stream, improper gain for an input or microphone, and loose cables causing no/intermittent sound

It is safer that putting them out in the rain that was happening during this video! That being said each venue will have an ideal location for a subwoofer. And the one thing to keep in mind is that they always work best out in front
Pascual2008 the X32 has more capacity and resources. The Air mixers do a good job but are a little bit limited in inputs, routings and so. Still they offer 6 aux outs and simplified operation from the tablet. I have both and use them according to the occasion. The Air mixer is more confortable but limited.
can you guys please make a video on live sound placements and go a little more in depth with other types of live sound? in particular like setting up hanging stage speakers and more specifically, subwoofer placements for say, a small venue like an elevated stage to an amphitheater in an open area, or an enclosed venue like an empty warehouse or something. im in a band and we are essentially all learning to do everything ourselves from mixing instruments and vocals on a soundboard as well as buying our own live sound equipment and setting it and placing everything properly to maximize sound. I hope you guys can help out. cheers
Amps are made light weight now no more heavy CROWNS or PEAVEY amps. I would prefer amps to powered speakers for live, too many cables on the floors (snake pit).
I understand that, but please consider that if you have an in-built amplifier it is possible that limiters are set properly by manufacturer to achieve maximum, but still safe SPL. If you have separate amp you never know how close you are to the speaker's limit. Finally you achieve lower volume to keep it safe from the same boxes.
We can definitely help you get all the pieces you will need. The best thing to do would be to get you connected with one of our Pro Audio Advisors. You can call them here for personalized advice on your setup: 1-800-555-9369

Edwin Francois that's the option that most manufacturers recommend but you can go direct to the tops first and then jump to the subs. The difference is that the gain in the system is going to be affected by the tops first. You can use either way depending on your purpose and use of the dsp's.

hmm, subwoofers should be put together as one block (left, middle or right) otherwise you'll get severe bass cancel-out at every spot of the room except the very middle plane!
I'm not sure where you're getting your information but that is not true. I've been doing "front of house" sound since 1981. I have done it in hundreds of small, medium and large size clubs as well as most of the arenas and amphitheaters in the US. I have never experienced what you describe. Nearly every manufacturer of consumer level live audio gear, sell "PA on a stick" type systems that always have the subs separated. If severe low-frequency cancellation was an issue these systems would not sell. There are advantages to putting the subs together. Just placing them side by side will give you a 3dbSPL increase which is equal to doubling the power to the subs. Separating them will not cause severe bass cancellation, however.
M not sure where this idea of sever bass cancel-out came but one thing i know is that you read a lot of books without doing practical. And its clear in the video that it outdoor so where does this spot of the room comes from. And by the way placing subs below tops always gives a better sound than placing subs and hi's apart.

For a given speaker system, a 3dbSPL increase requires double POWER, and decreasing the system by 3dbSPL requires cutting the power by half. Most people require a 3dbSPL change up or down to notice a change in volume although people that work with audio on a daily basis can reliably detect 1db changes. A Marshall 100W guitar amp is not twice as loud as a 50W Marshall. It is just enough louder to tell that it is in fact louder.
