Something you might not be aware of: The music for Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, and In The Heights was all orchestrated by Alex Lacamoire who won Tony Awards for all three. He's also the guy responsible for creating the Hamilton/DEH mash-up "Found/Tonight" which you reacted to a couple months ago.
Alex Lacamoire is a genius
So to expand on the plot, in this song Anybody Have a Map, at the beginning the mom reminds Evan to write those letters to himself to help build his confidence. He did and started it with Dear Evan Hansen... The student who committed suicide had actually taken Evan’s letter before he had died, so when people saw that the kid (connor) had the letter, they thought that Connor wrote it as a letter to Evan. So then Evan basically goes along with it and says that those two were good friends (in the song “For Forever”), and the whole thing snowballs from there
So in Dear Evan Hansen, the “pit” is actually hidden away on a balcony directly ABOVE the stage, and you are able to see them just above the stage in the finale. Really cool!
The show is orchestrated for a band of eight, including the music director. The parts are: MD/Keyboard; Violin; Viola; Violoncello; Guitar 1; Guitar 2; Bass Guitar/Upright Bass; and Drums.

Yeeey, you're finally listening to DEH. Can't wait for you to hear the other masterpieces from the album. But you should definitely do a little research about the plot. Otherwise some songs might feel pretty confusing or you just won't get the message behind it. You obviously don't have to, but I'm sure it would help.

Ohhhh wow a DEH reaction this should be good. The album overall is just wow PHENOMENALLY amazing with the musical. It's ridiculously so good.
Wow this is so cool - you're awesome! Please, please, please do the entire OBC recording - it's phenomenal and would love to get your reactions to this incredibly powerful show. As pointed out, the pit is very small for a Broadway show but is really utilized so effectively with a wide range of styles in the music and songs. And they were arranged by the incomparable Alex Lacamoire (who also arranged In the Heights and Hamilton, among others).
I don't know why, but movies have soundtracks and shows have cast albums, OBC = Original Broadway Cast Album

I believe the reason for that soundtracks are identical to what they sound like in film, but cast albums are usually the original cast singing in a studio, and therefore not exactly what you might hear when you go to the show.

0:48 i got to watch one of the previews of the in the heights movie and its amazing but there are some changes in the songs, they cut some of them and some lyrics changed so u should still do act II :c

The musical Next to Normal is one of my favorites. It’s like Hamilton where it’s sung through, and the band is on the stage. There’s only a cast of 6 people. It’s about a woman with mental illness and how it affects her family. It’s so great.
