I absolutely love these reviews of old lenses. So cool how high quality lenses were even when cameras could not always keep up. :).

The lens has a film look to me..I know very little about film but it kind of has that look of film pics I look through...Cool lens, it will still be working when our big 3 lenses have been trashed..lol

    David
Looks like a great lens it looks sharper than my manuel focus Pentax 50mm F2 lens. It looks like it needs a lens hood my Sigma zoom lens is crap anywhere near the sun even with a hood on so I make sure to avoid the sun whenever I use the Sigma lens

Hey David, wonderful content about a great vintage lens. Germany paid the price to Russia for invading them. Russia, during war reparations, took the ZEISS lens making equipment, raw materials and key Zeiss lens engineering personnel (volunteers? )back to USSR.

I might just give it a try, you are not the first person to tell me this.

Weird enough I like lenses with aperture rings. But shooting with vintage lenses vs modern lenses with aperture always feels different. Not sure why.

I feel the same way. The new lens doesn’t seem to have the same ergonomics or something. Just seems…off.

Russian lenses are fun - as long as you get a good one.
Brings back memories seeing the aperture ring on the front of the lens... 🦘
