Trobuleshoes decided he wanted to devote his life to the rodeo, an admirable choice, thus he got a horseshoe for a cutie mark, a symbol I believe is representative of the rodeo. His special talent (if you can call it that) is being a klutz, hence the 'bad luck' positioning, as while the mark might be revealed when you decide what you want to do with your life so rarely does your special talent not play a role in it's design. In a way you could interpret Troubleshoe's cutie mark as "rodeo klutz" or "rodeo clown." So, no, he didn't get his mark when he realized what he was meant to do, since he was trying out for a position vastly different than his cutie mark suggests he should be doing.
+Dethneko Agreed, i mean take the mane 6 geting thier marks when for example fluttershy was able to calm them and was like "eureka" oh and cheerilee lets not forget her. her cutie mark is abstract but she KNEW what her talent was and what she as going to do with it.

I would actually take it a step further and suggest having the confidence to go after your dreams is what earns you your cutie mark. Troubleshoes may have been doing well enough during auditions that he gained enough confidence to definitively say to himself that he was meant to be a rodeo pony. In comparison, Rarity earned her cutie mark after seeing everyone's reactions to her costumes, not when she discovered the gems and not when she finished the costumes. The audiences' reactions gave her the confidence boost she needed to pursue her destiny with no doubts in her mind.
DragonTrainer201 And how does that apply to Twilight, who was so afraid and lost control in a magical Flare? Or Pinkie Pie who didn't have Confidence problem, and same with Fluttershy and Rainbow. Fluttershy gained hers from finding she can talk with Animals. And Rainbow was already cocky as a kid, and winning races, doing a Rainbow doesn't change that, and probably didn't even know what she was doing at the time, only after. Also what about Twist too? And Cheerilee said she just woke up one morning to find it there.
Well, to be fair to Braeburn, the CMC have a long history of escaping from adult supervision. Anyway, it's a shame this episode was so forgettable; by the time its point was revealed, I couldn't remember this episode's existence for so much as five minutes at a time.
Simple, but I agree. The message of this particular episode was muddled and lost in the shuffle of lukewarm slapstick. The 'Men cannot be allowed to do anything right' mantra continued, as an extra cherry on the pie.
The execution of this one was definitely off. The one good thing it did do was set up that the CMCs were good at helping others with cutie mark problems, but the benefits of that are limited given that we only know this with the luxury of hindsight.
I feel one of the bigger flaws with the CMC, imo, is that they basically told us what their talents are in one of their earliest episodes. It removed all mystery and chances for theorizing, and left us with basically a waiting game for when they themselves find out what they are.
I figured they didn't want the Sheriff taking the keys with him when he left, so they took them off the wall beforehand, then ran in with them. I imagine without the keys in his line of sight anymore, he wouldn't have thought to grab them. At least, I wouldn't have =P This is how I tend to forget a lot of things XD But yeah, as usual, I agree with pretty much all your points, even if this episode had none OUO *shot ded*
Exactly. I dont understand why so many people didnt interpret the reason that way. Besides, Sweetie Belle looked adorable doing magic so I wouldnt even have cared if it didnt make sense, but it does.
+FritzyBeat Often when I forget things it's because they aren't lying where they should be, thus I don't see them (despite not actively looking for them) and assume I already have them on me, or already loaded them into the car, or completely forgot about the item and don't realize I don't have it until I need it.
+FritzyBeat Agreed! Another point is that none of the CMC could reach it otherwise and it clearly took SweetieBell time to levitate the key to her - time that would have shorted their window to break Troubleshoes had they woken up the Sheriff first. They had plenty, but they didn't know that at the time.
I always thought that they took the keys off the wall before distracting the Sheriff so he WOULDN'T grab his keys on the way out. I'm pretty sure that he has a spot to put them whenever he's not in the building, and therefore, by taking the keys, it would trick him into thinking that he forgot to put em back on the wall upon getting back last time.
can't wait to see how you react to the episode where they get their cutey marks ._. i was really disappointed with theirs and cannot wait for your comments XD
I still can't find myself to review this episode. I had a lot of issues with it but it still got some good parts. Oh, and the whole levitating the keys instead of taking them when the sheriff left does have counter argument. People have been telling me that if the keys were still hanging up, there would have been a chance that the sheriff might take the keys as he leaves. While I can see that happening, the sheriff didn't even hesitate to check and take the keys so it doesn't really work in this situation.
+Redcord CHN () But, if the keys _had_ been there, The sheriff may have noticed them, thereby taking them with him. Sometimes, some things you only think of if you see them, so the counter argument still works.
+Redcord CHN Honestly after +Silver Quill did his Character Vs. Power video I just put Troubleshoes away from my mind, he is the symbol of this semi-good episode so honestly i was just here because of Firebrand's limited comedy. my advice Redcord. Don't review the episode, eventually all the analysts will run out of points for things to say
***** Look I understand that everyone has varying degrees of how they enjoy an episode and I respect yours and everything, but the reason I like it a lot is because I enjoyed it a lot. Honestly the episode isn't groundbreaking or anything like what we've seen previously, but I loved the episode because of how Rarity and Applejack played off each other's character. The last few times this has been done... we got Look Before you Sleep and Trade Ya.
4:00 It makes sense the cutie mark appeared before he screwed up, he got it because he was on the rodeo. He only fought he got it because he screwed up, but he got it while he was doing things right. He found his life purpose, then he messed up and lost sight of his purpose. When I first saw this episode I thought it was just good, nothing amazing, but fun. But it got better after realising it was set up for Crusaders of the Lost Mark.
I don't mean to be inconsiderate, but at the rate he's going, the season would have already ended by the time he reviews today's episode. (sigh) I cried so much. I mean about today's episode, not the fact that his reviews are taking a long time.
FireWolfGoddess Julienne Dy Just because the review isn't up doesn't mean he hasn't watched it. For all we know he's watching it right now!! But omg my god wasn't it awesome when ******** did **** and ******,*****,***** all***** and especially at the end when they all sing about ********** and their *********. Also if josh does see this... It's a musical. I know he doesn't like spoilers, but I feel like this would have helped my experience with the episode if I knew this first. Still great episode, great songs and HOLY COW!!!
In light of this week's episode (crusaders of the lost mark) this episode becomes a lot more important because it sets up themes and ideas that are expanded upon in that episode. It all comes together gloriously. Go check it out if you haven't yet.
Two cmc episode's in a short time is worth mentioning. I wonder what you wil say about Canterlot boutique, Rarity investigates and Made in Manhattan since Rarity is your favourite.
**Before Reading: I might end up saying things that were said in the video so sorry as well as others in the comments might have said this already....and don't mind my grammar plz** 1: The way 'TroubleShoes' got his cutie mark makes sense. He knew he was doing what he loved, causing his cutie mark to appear. In fact this episode sort of proves a point, cutie marks can appear but don't always clerify what it is. 2: Sweetie needed to levitate the keys out to make sure the sheriff didn't grab them on his way out, they were making sure they had all loose ends tied. **End Of Slight Rant**
Also, it pains me to see so few male characters. Lauren Fausta, an espoused feminist who actually has GOOD ideas and ideologies about gender and representation, wanted there to be a larger number of male characters. She wanted boys watching the show to have good role models and positive representation. And there are a lot of interesting designs on male background characters. (I like Fluffy Clouds, tbh!) So what's with the current writers not really bothering? Sad.
Hey, in Applejack's defense, she had thought that her sister had been kidnapped, and even when she was unoccupied enough to listen, none of the CMC were willing to admit that they had snuck out.
The interesting thing for me here is that Troubleshoes proves that one does not need to be aware of one's talent to get a cutie mark while performing it. This shows us that the CMC's cutie marks can't be the things we saw them do in Show Stoppers. If they were, the kids would have earned them in Show Stoppers
+Skye Silverwing Troubleshoes is a bit different - he's like Twilight's magic cutie mark, it's very broad. Troubleshoes special talent is to be in the rodeo, his klutziness makes him a rodeo clown - his special talent is simply to perform in one. Just like how Twilight's is simply being talented in magic and Trixie's seems to be the same, but look how they handle it differently.Troubleshoes issues is that he misinterpreted his mark as bad luck instead of finding his place.
I may have to disagree. Pinkie, Rainbow and Fluttershy got their marks through performing their special talent without being show to even realize they had gotten their marks at the time in question, so potentially the same with Twilight that she could have gotten her cutie mark when she discovered just how powerful her magic could be, except she did not. Twilight didn't get her mark until Celestia took her on as her protege. Contrary to the show constantly telling us cutie marks appear when you discover your special talent it goes on to show that the marks really don't appear until you decide what you want to do with your life, and Twilight couldn't realize she wanted to be Celestia's protege/successor until she was made aware Celestia would even take her on to begin with. I still side with Sweetie Belle's special talent being singing and Scootaloo's special talent being daredevilry, but they won't get their marks for these talents until they decide this is what they want to devote their lives to. Apple Bloom's talent might still be in homemaking/general maintenance, but to be honest that feels like general knowledge for growing up on a farm. Being the one with main character status in the CMC it's possible her special talent was avoided, that or they changed their mind later, because later episodes point to potion brewing and alternative magic as her special talent. Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo have since stuck with singing and daredevilry respectively as their most likely special talents.
This episode suddenly becomes more interesting and makes much more sense after seeing Crusaders of the Lost Mark. So funnily enough this was a " set stuff up" episode instead of filler. Never would have guessed it without watching COTLM.
Just gonna put this one out here easily: Troubleshoe's cutie mark is a mark that came from being in a situation that brought out the potential for his talent and passion to shine as both passion and talent are needed for a cutie mark (something we see later in the series.) The realization for Trouble was that he was at his most passionate in the rodeo, there was no place he'd rather be, but the talent hadn't come to him yet and was discovered the moment he got it. Though unfortunately for him he doesn't recognize his own talents right away and that causes him to look down on his mark and not understand it. In fact that's one of the reasons I love this episode and this season for dealing with Cutie Marks, as it sets the ground rules for how they form and how they can be misunderstood which actually brings a new light on earlier episode like the very first in fact. This episode showed how a mark can spawn from an overwhelming sense of passion yet be misunderstood in you seeing how your talent doesn't fit in with your passion (whereas another episode later shows that you can understand your talent but not your passions.)
That bit where you called the sheriff incompetent because he left Trouble Shoes unattended isn't the worst thing. I learned that way back in the 1930s when my hometown's police department first started, there were only ever two officers on duty at any given time, so when one officer was on a call, the other would be doing dispatch back at the station (which at the time shared a building with city hall as well as a used car dealership). However, if the second officer was needed as well, then he would just pull some drunkard out of his cell and answer calls until one of the officers got back.
This is my least favorite episode so I feel weird in defending it. watch the scene where troubleshoes gets his cutie mark. His inner monologue says "Right in the middle of that trial, I knew what I was doing what I was meant to, and wouldn't you know it. In a flash comes this here cutie mark." he had his moment of revelation, he felt that he was doing his destiny. that is exactly how a cutie mark appears. I am sick of people not thinking. Cutie marks are able to be interpreted in the wrong way, maybe cheerilee's mark told her to be a gardener, but she interpreted that to another thing she would enjoy, teaching. Troubleshoes misinterpreted his mark as a sign of bad luck, and gave up on his dream, He seemed like he was doing just fine with the rope until he got distracted by his cutie mark appearing, if he went to that rodeo school, he would be great at the rodeo. Also maybe instead of saying "the writers have it wrong" maybe think that "I have it wrong" Don't compare true cutie marks to strange diseases or unfinished spells. Rarity got her cutie mark when she proved that she could do her interest well enough to earn a cutie mark. Applejack earned her cutie mark when she realised that she wanted to work on the orchard and nothing else, cheerilee woke up to her cutie mark by probably having a great dream about gardening or teaching or whatever. so just keep an open mind and don't think that worldbuilding about an essential concept is impossible 98 episodes in. I hope that josh will read this. I think I'm going to start reviewing soon. but this episode is still abismal though.
that Episode Also Reminds me of The Equestria Games. Conentration More on a Character Who's Out of the Game, Insted Concentrate on Watching The Show in the Game.
"I want the CMC to get their cutiemarks already".................... Hehehehe............... You might wanna take a look at today's episode...............
Another great review on the episode! It was a pretty meh episode. By the way, the music you put in your videos are usually really good, could you place the name in the descriptions?
uhh,the cmc already have their cutiemarks+spoilers+ they have the same cutiemark type, they have a shield thingy, they help people get their cutiemarks i guess??
THANK YOU for noticing, five years ago, that the CMC were perfectly competent to take a train without adult supervision. Something that the writers knew in season 9... and then forgot by later in season 9. There is exactly one episode in the entire series where I mind characters regressing.
Also I feel like the fact that cutie marks are never explained the same way makes sense. People's roles in life and their passion are all different, and they all interact with that role in a different way, so it makes sense that each pony's cutie mark works a bit differently. All they really know is that it's a representation of something, probably what you are? Somehow? But since no one actually knows beyond their own experiences, they just say what it means to them and how they interact with who they are. It's actually kind of brilliant.
3:54 Yeah, it's basically because it's happening to pony Eeyore (who doesn't deserve to get hurt) and isn't over the top enough to ignore. Slapstick worked so well in the Feeling Pinkie Keene clip you showed because Twilight was being obstinate AF and the pain happening to her was cartoonish enough that you couldn't empathize with her. With Troubleshoes, it's easy to feel sorry for him and his situation. Everything around him constantly goes wrong through no fault of his own, so when he gets hurt (again, through no fault of his own) you just feel bad for the guy.
Personally, I liked Trouble shoes. I called him cutty the clown. The main thing i like was how much of a downer he was in contrast with how joyous all the other ponies were. He's like sadness from Inside out. Depressing but also quite amusing. his slapstick wasn't funny but his reaction was hilarious. He was just like 'F*ck it' all the time.
Personal theory on Cutie Marks, Personal Interpretation is very much a part of them. They appear when you achieve or experience you special talent (Trouble shoes was supposed to be a rodeo horse, a rodeo clown horse) but while his talent (which for years became his curse) was personal slapstick he didn't interpret it as such, thus causing himself (and due to the talent, those around him) trouble. We actually see this affecting the most of the Main six in Magical Mystery Cure with the cutie mark switch, they all, like Trouble-shoes, use the wrong personal interpretation of their new marks (and it can be argued they didn't have the correct special talents but that's actual not important for this). Rarity thinks Dash's mark means being great at weather control, but if she had Dash's ability it'd be an ability/desire for speed and stunts. Fluttershy thinks Pinkie's is to make other ponies happy, but it's to throw parties, not in and of itself to make ponies happy (though that definitely is a personal desire of Pinkie). Applejack thinks Rarity's is fashion design, but it's finding/appraising the jewels she uses in her cloths (which is why they're almost always flashy). (Rarity's talent helps her dream/job, but her dream/job is actually mostly learned skills, arguably making her more impressive.) Pinkie thinks Applejack's is the farm, when it's taking care/being with family. And finally Dash thinks Fluttershy's is taking care of animals, though again that might just be something Fluttershy chose to do after discovering her talent of Communicating with/Understanding animals.
I feel like I am one of few who kinda liked this episode. Mostly because it made me think about cutiemarks and what they could mean to different ponies. And for some reasons I do like Troubleshoes and what he brings to the table. In an season where so many episodes are focused on cutiemarks and talents I think this adds like another dimension or another way to look at it. I dunno, I do like this episode for what it brings, atleast to me. Don't if this made any sense but that is how I feel, if I could make a good review video on this maybe I could elaborate further...i dunno.
If you think about it Shinning Armor, Cheese Sandwich, Bray Burn, and Fancy Pants could be considered some of the mane six's male counter parts. Shinning Armor is a Prince (by marriage) and has a talent for magic so much so that he was able to create huge barrier spell around Canterlot for his wedding and he's captain of the guard (also proving his worth with magic). Cheese Sandwich throws blow outs like Pinkie Pie, has cheese sense while Pinkie has pinkie sense, takes to a rubber chicken while Pinkie talks to her pet baby gator, and their "quirkiness" (yeah lets call it that!) is similar. Bray Burn is similar to Apple Jack in the sense that they both use countryisms, both ready to fight when need be, both stubborn (though Bray Burn does fall through unlike Apple Jack), and they even look more like siblings than Apple Jack and Big Mac do! What is up with that? They could be twins! And then Fancy Pants is big in the fashion world that Rarity desperately wants to get into. And likes to look down on others while Rarity tends to do the same thing without even realizing it. But, like Rarity, will give the deserving their praise. And again they look similar!
I really hope that's how Firebrand got his cutie mark: "Hey, free tramp stamp!"

The rest of the replies got it down: the writers broke the MLP lore just to force a lesson. This episode is best forgotten.
NEWEST EPISODE GRANTS YOUR WISH, JOSH!!!!!!
Well, to be fair to Braeburn, the CMC have a long history of escaping from adult supervision.
Anyway, it's a shame this episode was so forgettable; by the time its point was revealed, I couldn't remember this episode's existence for so much as five minutes at a time.
Two days, just two days before the first part became moot. That might be an Academy Record.
"i kinda want to see them get their cutie marks already" he must be the happiest guy in the world today.
"Discord is BEYOND a terrible role model" - Firebrand 2015. I've never laughed so hard in my entire life.
0:39 SHHH that's A later episode
Simple, but I agree. The message of this particular episode was muddled and lost in the shuffle of lukewarm slapstick. The 'Men cannot be allowed to do anything right' mantra continued, as an extra cherry on the pie.
I love that explanation at the beginning of how the cmc should just get their cutie marks already.
now you know why they added this episode: for the cmc cutie marks
I practically laughed when the 18th episode came out. The irony is amazing.
To be fair, not everyone picked up on this when it was first established…
But it is pretty obvious to those paying attention…
Cheese Sandwich is so cute and fun, though! I think he should make a return in the next season because he was super likable!
I figured they didn't want the Sheriff taking the keys with him when he left, so they took them off the wall beforehand, then ran in with them. I imagine without the keys in his line of sight anymore, he wouldn't have thought to grab them. At least, I wouldn't have =P This is how I tend to forget a lot of things XD
But yeah, as usual, I agree with pretty much all your points, even if this episode had none OUO *shot ded*
Exactly. I dont understand why so many people didnt interpret the reason that way.
Besides, Sweetie Belle looked adorable doing magic so I wouldnt even have cared if it didnt make sense, but it does.
Alex Atkin Implying Sweetie Belle isn't ALWAYS adorable ;P
+FritzyBeat -I just wanted to say that-
not many people look at it like that heh
+FritzyBeat Often when I forget things it's because they aren't lying where they should be, thus I don't see them (despite not actively looking for them) and assume I already have them on me, or already loaded them into the car, or completely forgot about the item and don't realize I don't have it until I need it.
+FritzyBeat Agreed! Another point is that none of the CMC could reach it otherwise and it clearly took SweetieBell time to levitate the key to her - time that would have shorted their window to break Troubleshoes had they woken up the Sheriff first. They had plenty, but they didn't know that at the time.
Seeing how you saw the latest episode, I bet that review will be a complete 180 to this one lol.
Wish granted, Firebrand, as of 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark'!
Count Olaf is the most amazing villain in a book series. Can I say that? I think I can.
That slapstick scene in Trouble Shoes' cabin felt like a rip-off of the opening scene from Monsters Inc.
"They're dumb kids"
WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT KIDS?!?!
That was writen by my friend's 9 year old sister.
Okay, HOLD ON! The first one was Jerry Peet, the second was the Simply Boggsy, and now it's Aficionados Chris? How many editors do you have?
0:48 Watching this review after seeing "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" feels kind of weird...
Dude, the CMC had this episode to show their talent.
SPOILERS! :
The CMC have the same Cutie Mark
"I want to see the cmc get there cutie marks already" uhhhh dude, watch today's episode.....
can't wait to see how you react to the episode where they get their cutey marks ._. i was really disappointed with theirs and cannot wait for your comments XD
+Redcord CHN Can't say I can't' argue with that.
***** Well Made in Manehatten is up to debate. I personally liked it a lot. After all it's the best pairing of Rarity and Applejack to date.
1:28 "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAppleOOsa!"
Me:Yes....just Yes.
If you haven't heard it from SIlver Quill, she took the keys to guarantee the sheriff wouldn't take them on the way out.
Old but what would stop the Sheriff from taking the keys with him when he would be lured out... besides plot convenience XD
Hey look, The Great Divide
...Let's keep flying
I don't blame you, this is one episode that can easily be skipped.
ahahahhahhaha
I'd love to see his reaction to today's episode
Hahaha...HAHAHAHAHA...Guess what just happened today!!?
You mean the fact that the CMC *Quickly shuts mouth* Right, Josh doesn't like spoilers. Just watch the episode Josh!!!!!
I don't mean to be inconsiderate, but at the rate he's going, the season would have already ended by the time he reviews today's episode. (sigh) I cried so much. I mean about today's episode, not the fact that his reviews are taking a long time.
FireWolfGoddess Julienne Dy
Just because the review isn't up doesn't mean he hasn't watched it.
+“WRPBullet” Jon Marlow I want to see Josh's reaction so bad!
+caglayantilsim IO want to see EVERY ONE'S reaction so bad!
In light of this week's episode (crusaders of the lost mark) this episode becomes a lot more important because it sets up themes and ideas that are expanded upon in that episode. It all comes together gloriously. Go check it out if you haven't yet.
THE IRONY IS REAL.
Two cmc episode's in a short time is worth mentioning. I wonder what you wil say about Canterlot boutique, Rarity investigates and Made in Manhattan since Rarity is your favourite.
My favorite sound bit ever! 4:17
Josh: "The Moment"
Me: ...Why do i feel like he got that from Doctor Who? XD
Want the CMC to get their marks already? Watch the latest episode
**Before Reading: I might end up saying things that were said in the video so sorry as well as others in the comments might have said this already....and don't mind my grammar plz**
1: The way 'TroubleShoes' got his cutie mark makes sense.
HE KNOWS WHO COUNT OLAF IS!!!!!!!😖😖 OMG!!!! I OOVE HIM EVEN MORE NOW!!!!
Did anyone else point out that this was the CMC displaying their talents before they got their marks?
The problem with this episode is that it's an episode that would feel more appropriate in season 2, not season 5.
Lol wait until he finds out WHY they're all there. XD haha
I would love to see your review on Crusaders of the Lost Mark (Season 5 Episode 18).
I can't wait to see your reaction to that episode.
Sweetie did have a reason to grab the keys. To make sure the Sheriff didn't grab them when he ran off.
that Episode Also Reminds me of The Equestria Games.
Conentration More on a Character Who's Out of the Game, Insted
Concentrate on Watching The Show in the Game.
I think the Nostalgia Critic might have a good explanation why at antics around 3:40 doesn't work in his Smurf review the The Black Nerd.
taking the keys was so that the sherif couldn't take them when exiting
I'm curious, has your opinion on this episode changed at all in light of this episode being foreshadowing/buildup for Crusaders of the Lost Mark?
1:24 and they traveled to canterlot without adult supervision in for whom the sweetie toils
"I want the CMC to get their cutiemarks already".................... Hehehehe............... You might wanna take a look at today's episode...............
Another great review on the episode! It was a pretty meh episode. By the way, the music you put in your videos are usually really good, could you place the name in the descriptions?
0:38 **looks at Crusaders of the Lost Mark**
Please notice its dark outside, which likely means a lot of time has passed. Honestly I applaud him for sitting there that long.
WAH BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR FIREBRAND
and another thing. maybe the reason they took the keys first. so that the sheif wouldnt take them with him.
We've heard about the ponyville rodeo before. Its not much, but in season 1 rarity dares applejack to not go to the rodeo next time it comes to town.
funny thing this episode is actually important for a future CMC episode
Huh, doug walker, nice reference!
In defense of them taking the keys and then calling him out was to make sure he didn't take the keys when he left.
uhh,the cmc already have their cutiemarks+spoilers+ they have the same cutiemark type, they have a shield thingy, they help people get their cutiemarks i guess??
0:38 - Oh you! Oh you!
Please do a review on the most recent episode (18) :3
Watch the newest episode IT"S AMAZING and a CMC episode. Guess what happens
The CMC grabbed the keys so the sheriff wouldn't take them with him when he left.
Kind of obvious.
Kinda an oversight by the Sherrif
THANK YOU for noticing, five years ago, that the CMC were perfectly competent to take a train without adult supervision. Something that the writers knew in season 9... and then forgot by later in season 9. There is exactly one episode in the entire series where I mind characters regressing.
"You know, I kinda want the CMC to get their Cutie Marks already."
Uh, yeah, about that.....
*little Firecolt*
He looks so adorably maniacal!
Hahaha!!!!
Wait until he sees Crusaders Of The Lost Mark XD
I was expected this episode to be either like Spongebob Meets the Strangler or The Wrong Man by Alfred Hitchcock
About the CMC being there with applebloom, they're friends and probably just wanted to join her
Personally, I liked Trouble shoes.
0:38 Oh My Celestia!
(Rarity's talent helps her dream/job, but her dream/job is actually mostly learned skills, arguably making her more impressive.)
Pinkie thinks Applejack's is the farm, when it's taking care/being with family.
And finally Dash thinks Fluttershy's is taking care of animals, though again that might just be something Fluttershy chose to do after discovering her talent of Communicating with/Understanding animals.
0:29 video like earned right here.
Later when the cmc got their marks...
It was important this is their talent helping with marks
Big Macintosh seems like an OK male character.
