Old school knot, I love it! I started with the taut line hitch before I learned the Blake’s hitch. Now I use an eye and eye prusik cord with newer knots but it’s great to know the basic knots in case you forget gear. A lot of these new climbers only use mechanical ascenders.

Blakes hitch is all i use. I also use a split tail.
I also use a micro pulley to pull the slack out. I might be getting a Spyder jack 3 trade some worm for it .
Looks similar in function to the Prusik knot that rock climbers often use while rappelling. Also ascending if they don't have an ascender on hand.
