Dude I love your content and attitude. So many youtubers out there would be peer pressuring their friends to do stupid stuff for content like your friend not submersing in the freezing water. You didn't make fun of him, you didn't tease him, you just lived your life with a smile, and him with his, and you let us tag along. You are not just a great content creator, you are obviously a good spirit, a good person. You can see it visibly, and genuinely, and that's pretty rare for youtubers approaching 1 million subs. Keep it up, Downie.
You have the best train blog . So good to see you with your friend. I’d love a trip like that , train ride, hotel, gondola ride , bus ride sightseeing the town . It looks like you had an amazing journey. Thanks for all the great videos .
My wife and I really like your closing statement each time of: "I don't know where I'm going next, but I know I want you there with me!". We have adopted that phrase as well because I have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer recently and we don't know where our journey will lead, but we want to be there with each other along the way! Thanks for giving us a phrase to get us both through this journey! Keep making your great videos and we don't know where we will be going, but we are excited to be there with you!!
I always enjoy your videos but what I loved about this one the most was seeing 4 grown men getting lemons and making lemonade with them. Instead of throwing temper tantrums because your trip didn't go the way you expected. You guys rule!!! ❤
I've seen this trip previously on 3 other channels. But I watched yours anyways because you're so excited and engaging in your videos. I don't think I can compliment anyone on TH-cam more than by watching you do a video on a topic I've already seen a few times. You're just so fun to watch.
Thank you for sharing this adventure. I did this route with my family. It was on my Stepfathers bucket list trip before he passed away. The staff on the train were amazing on this incredible adventure. Brought back happy memories.
This has been an awesome adventure! Great Friends, scenery, food and side trips, you can’t ask for anything better! Thank yo for the invite, it was enjoyable!
Downie you have inspired plenty of us to travel, and put a smile on the faces of those who can't. Travel with the people you love, the world is very big and beautiful. Thank you so much for taking us with you.
BC Rail used to run a daily RDC train from North Vancouver to Lilooet which continued to Prince George three days a week. It made brisk business with tourists to Whistler and was a vital link.
Cariboo person here... not having a train anymore between Prince George and Vancouver really sucks. So, seeing the RM passing by, not having the chance to go for a reasonable price on a train... I feel just like it's now only for rich people.
Lots of trips have their delays and disappointments, but you and your friends turned a delay into a fun time. The scenery by the lakes was truly outstanding, The train itself looked great with that big mountain logo on the front and the company more than made up for the problems.
Wow wow wow!! How beautiful. This may be my favorite episode yet. Thank you so much for showing us this amazing train and gorgeous route!! Also, that falling into the lake/into bed edit was fantastic.
Thank you, Mike, for the fantastic ride on the train! Seb, Will, and Austin, you are some TRUE friends! All of you dancing throughout the trip really brought a smile to my face!! 😊❤📣📣🍾🍾
In 1981 I got a summer job in Pavilion and convinced a classmate to join me. We took BC Rail from North Van to Pavilion and had the most amazing trip. We spent most of it between the cars enjoying the changing scenery. We even invited ourselves into the engine room (it was the 1980’s!) where the view was something out of a video game. So nice to see the Rocky Mountaineer taking advantage of this track.
Another trip on the rocky mountaineer! I would say the delays are worth it because Canida has such beautiful scenery. Hopefully I'll get to ride it someday. Keep it up, Mike!
I can't express how much I love this video. I've never commented on a video since 2016 so I hope that says something 😂. I'm in a group with 3 amazing friends and I have always wanted to travel around the world with them. This video let me experience what it's like to do so and I am so grateful for it 🙏.
Thank you again, Michael, for sharing the most stunningly beautiful areas of Canada with me and many others. The narration of your videos is really quite good; making you an interestingly informative storyteller! I also want to say how sorry I am about the devastation of the wildfires that Canada is enduring right now. Please know that you, and your friends and family, are in my prayers always.
This video is truly an experience to watch. Somehow capturing the deeply personal and humanistic aspect of travel that so many other travel channels seem to lose. While those creators & videos are great in their own right, this one is in its own category. Can't wait for the next one
Just want to say that i really appreciate your videos and i don't post that kind of comment often. You ooze positivity and this has a huge impact on the quality of your videos. I always wanted to travel but never thought of doing it by train for the ride itself and not for the destination so this has given me ideas for my future plans 👍
I quite enjoyed that optimism with the track delays and getting to ride on those buses. It's that optimism that keeps me coming back to this channel. Wonderful trip, Mike. I can't wait for the next one.
Such a wonderful video! Great travelog, beautiful scenery and Will too!!! When you and Will are together one can see just how much you care about each other! This video was worth the wait.
Mike this was a great adventure. You live in one of the world's most beautiful places, and i love that you share it with everyone. I can't wait to take this trip on the Mountaineer. With as many delays as possible. I also really like the idea of your channel sponsors. They could make good money in Australia.
Fantastic to see you riding the rails again with Will and also with the added bonus of being joined by Austin and Seb too, they really are the perfect train travel friends. I’ve always loved your attitude towards delays, getting to see places you might never have the opportunity to visit are great little additions to the overall journey. Thank you for sharing this brilliant experience with us Mike. Best wishes to all four of you from England 🚂
I so love the trains...very dear to my heart as is that starting point. How extremely special! Thank you so much for sharing this~ and may God bless all of the train workers and employees who make each trip possible. Sending love your way always and maybe one day My Man and our children can retrace those steps. Best times ever and I honestly think any human is lacking if they have not seen those sites. I feel truly blessed to of seen this video. Have a great weekend everyone!
What a beautiful train adventure. Good friends and good times. I think this is the best train you've been on so far. And I'm sure this train will be having a lot more new customers after they've watched this.
Thank you for another great video. I look forward to them. I have always appreciated how you encourage us to be present in the moment and not take them for granted. The train ride itself did indeed look amazing yet I have a feeling your memories extend well beyond the train.
So great to see AUSTIN traveling with you guys. Love when Will and Seb show up. I’m currently on the Amtrak Empire Builder and the riders have been talking about our favorite train TH-camrs and everyone mentioned you, Mike!

Great to see you back on the rails, Mike. Now as I type this, one of your fellow countrymen is on his way downunder to visit my part of the world. He is a retired ViaRail and West Coast Rail Conductor and i'll be sure to remind him of your channel when he gets here. This brings back great memories. We did the RM in 2019. We met a great couple from Australia and had a great time (we’re from 🇬🇧) we had a rear open area too. The food, service and hospitality on this trip were fabulous
Great to see a passenger train running along the PGE/BC Rail mainline again from North Vancouver to Prince George ... albeit in a style well beyond the means of many of those who would have regularly taken this route back in the day.
I have autism and my thing has been trains for a long time. I can’t afford to travel with my health problems but your videos always make me feel so happy. I feel like I’m exploring the world with you and your love of trains feels just like my own. Thank you for always bringing us along for the ride.
It's been awhile since I have been on here to catch your videos but this one was the icing on the cake ❤ your the definition of a great a open arm to the world type of friend and I love it. Your videos always end up in the end making me tear up. 😊 Keep that great spirit going and the world needs more people like you.
I so very much enjoy watching your travels by train. It is my hope that one day I will get to do this as well! I captured a screenshot from 12:30, just after the tree went by, and am using that as my computer background! Such a wonderful, peaceful scene!
I'd absolutely LOVE to go on this trip! What a dream!😍 I couldn't stop smiling while watching this, just perfect. What a blessing it is, the friendship you guys share. My father lives in Canada (Ontario) and this would be something I'd like to do with him, well actually, I'd love to take my whole family with me!😀
Great video Mike! The 2 big lakes on day two are Anderson Lake & the Turquoise Lake you were talking about is Seton Lake. Seton Lake gets it's Turquoise Colour from Carpenter Lake at Shallath where the BC Hydro Penstocks were. its 4:06am and im in a dark office at work watching this and im trying not to tear up. I really have to take a trip like this at least once before i leave this earth. I think its getting to me because of my love for trains and wanderlusting. and one thing my grandpa told me before he passed was that he was going to take me on a train ride.....
This train trip is on my bucket list. Grew up riding the train, first trip at 1 month old. My Father worked for the Great Northern in Whitefish Montana. Have taken several trips around most of the US. Next trip from Fullerton CA to Clemson SC to Delaware to Syracuse to Montana to Ventura.
Mike, I absolutely love your joy and curiosity. You take me places I can’t go and for that I am forever grateful. Much love and gratitude from Alabama. ❤

Mike, you've really nailed it this time! It's 1pm Friday 1st September in Melbourne and you have 4.1K likes and 274 comments ahead of me on this fantastic coverage of the former BC Rail line from North Vancouver to Prince George aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. The delay you incurred appears to have been beside Lac La Hache (how appropriate, having your rail trip axed temporarily there). At least you got to Williams Lake and missed only the Williams Lake to Quesnel section on rail (Did you know one of the sidings in that section is named "Australian"?). I smiled in the earlier section where you went beside Birkengates, Anderson and Seton Lakes with the quote "It doesn't get better than this". I made a similar comment to my travelling companion in the forested section north of Quesnel (near those big bridges) as the sun was setting and we were standing at the open top stable type door of the Rail Diesel Car listening to the deep whistle scaring a moose off the track.

its 4:06am and im in a dark office at work watching this and im trying not to tear up. I really have to take a trip like this at least once before i leave this earth. I think its getting to me because of my love for trains and wanderlusting. and one thing my grandpa told me before he passed was that he was going to take me on a train ride.....
Mike, Its A Pleasure To Watch you, Keep The Content Flowing!
Fantastic Team spirit , Such an adventure
Yeay! Another Will and Seb one! Austin is a great addition. :)
Wonderful!
