  • A crushed culvert can be fixed! Using simple tools, Bryan fixed our crushed culvert that is constantly pummeled by delivery drivers and large vehicles. Hopefully this time it is fixed for good!

Nice fix with jack..good example of work smarter not harder..lol. I put a couple of 1 inch pipes with bright orange tape on them (8 feet tall) on the sides of my culvert so large trucks or cars could see the edge of my driveway better, seems to work well.

Nice job Brian! put some of those edge markers that you use to locate the edge of the road when it snows. thanks for Sharing... cool bear footage

Nice bear videos. Brian just stack some ready mix concrete bags or use them as mortar after snow melt to hold your stones in place. I like the stone look better. Keep stacking them up and put concrete to hold them in place

It's the force of the vehical that pushes surrounding ground work into the culvert that does the damage. Pouring concrete around and over or some other platform by which a vehicals wheels can roll over and not "mush" rocks and gravel work into the culvert is the best way to handle that. Snow plowing is also likely a culprit, again weight pushing into the culvert by heavy objects is the problem. The rocks you pile onto the side to "stabilize" will get pushed into the side by vehical weight alone. You are always pushing ground on dirt and gravel road away from the main road. So it has to go somewhere, usually off to the sides including where culverts are. Build a box form around culvert, pour a couple bags of concrete into it to make it level with road, that way debris will get pushed over the metal tube in front of it and then you'll only have to clean the entry/exit. Smiles and blessings...

Good repair. You could drive a stake in the ground forcing people away from the end of the culvert. Maybe you could leave a couple of IPA's in the culvert in case I'm ever in the neighborhood.

We j\had a similar problem with people cutting a corner short and smashing our culvert too. My dad ended up drilling a deep hole and cementing two large pipes on each side of the corner to protect our culvert and painted the pipes John Deer yellow. If they cut that corner too close they would have a dent and bright yellow paint on their vehicle or trailer. We never had to fix out culvert ever again.

Nice job on the culvert. It appears that there is plenty of fall away from the culvert. Could you bury it deeper and add 1 or 2 feet to the culvert?
    Thanks for the video

This culvert was actually extended by 2-3 feet from the original already! see what you're saying though

That was a good fix. Now, place a big boulder just before the culvert and let the poor drivers, (they know who they are), hit that!
