How To Make Boho / Hippie Flared Bell Bottom Jeans

- This is a wonderful way to upcycle those old jeans that you don't wear anymore and create a beautiful piece of one-of-a-kind wearable art! In this tutorial we will take a thrifted pair of jeans, an old dress and fabric scraps and combine them to make a whole new pair of flared decorative jeans. This works with soooo many aesthetics: hippie, boho, cowgirl, festival and more! Whether you create to sell (like I did for many years), or you just want to jazz up your own wardrobe, I think you will find this fairly simple sewing tutorial fun, easy to understand and inspiring. The fabric and pant combinations are infinite...be creative and fun!

These pants are so close to a pair designed by Cher when we were teens! Only the ones by Cher’s label was a solid color if I remember correctly, and it was an almost neon light green. I do remember it had a seam at the knee just as you did, but the seam didn’t have any extra fabric, but the bottom definitely flared. I think it was probably polyester as that was the fabric of the day back then. This was so much fun to watch, and since I live so far from my sister these days, it’s nice to remember a happy time. Oh, and she wore he brown hair to her waist, and really long bangs!

Everything is very beautiful; both the idea and the execution! I love the combination of turquoise and brown-red colors! And it’s great that you voice your train of thought when you decide where to sew the next detail. Like how you explained why you left denim sections between the strips of fabric and that it was necessary to add some details to the top of the pants. I don't know, I find it incredibly useful and interesting for me.
Recently I got acquainted with the Japanese technique of boro, which impressed me a lot. The Japanese brand "Kapital" has a lot of clothes using this technique. And inspired, I am slowly decorating another pair of jeans.

It’s a logo tee with sleeves/sides from a flannel shirt, button placket ruffles at the bottom from the flannel and a men’s dress shirt. I added cuffs from dress shirt along the back sides to make more room in the booty area.
I had SO much fun and wore my creation to the ELO Final Tour concert last Wednesday - got lots of smiles from fellow concert goers. 😁
