    for your water activated strips - pretty easy to mount a narrow roller (like a small paint roller) with a small tray under it with a little water to keep the roller wet, then just roll the tape strip over the roller, done

      Not sure exactly what your getting at by pointing out those states in particular but they still have state sales tax rates - NYC/NJ does have some special economic zone areas that are able to charge a lesser sales tax rate (~3.5%).
      You could go to the handful of states with no sales tax at all which include Delaware, Oregon, New Hampshire and couple others ... But if your playin fully by the book and ur home state has sales tax, you are required to report out of state purchases like a Rolex and is paid as part of your income tax return ... Obviously you could buy in Delaware, save the double digit tax in most of NY metro area and just not report the purchase in theory ... Also benefits reporting and goin by the book, guess it depends who u are and what you do for a living etc ...

    • @ANHON888
      @ANHON888 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MoAli-wm4of I’m talking about out of state e-commerce transactions. If I buy a watch out of state from FL, PA, NJ, NY, etc.. sent out of state, there is no sales tax. GC charges sales tax if I want to purchase a watch, which made me go elsewhere. They attract customers from all over the country. They don’t only sell watches at their location. They spent a lot of money and time on their e-commerce website if you’ve been watching their channel. You see what I’m getting at?

    • @MoAli-wm4of
      @MoAli-wm4of ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ANHON888 Ah yes, with your clarification I see exactly what you mean and that def makes sense in the way you've highlighted this and different from what I originally thought ur point was - which is what my reply was obv aimed at.
      Further to your point tho ... I'm an NYC/NJ lifetime resident so not sure about other states but around 2018-9 there was a supreme court case South Dakota vs Wayfair and after the court sided with state of SD ... New Jersey bitxh ass lawmakers used this ruling to make online retailers who exceed certain criteria (something like 100k+ annual sales OR 250+ individual annual sales) to collect state sales tax on anything sold to an NJ address/resident even when the online retailer has no physical presence in NJ lol. They are to charge customer state sales tax at standard NJ rate, collect it and forward it to those bitches down in Trenton ... I know it was to go live around 2019 or so, not sure if NY follows suit but you know how the 5 boros government is super greedy, reckless spending and then use shit like this to make up for it lol

    Bought an 18238 from a private seller who was the original owner. I spoke with him on the phone, he was an older guy who bought it new in the 1980s in the Caribbean on vacation. eBay ‘authenticated’ the watch with their new service. When I received the watch, I could Immediately see it was an 18038. Spoke with eBay customer service, who connected me with an eBay Authenticator rep. They didn’t seem to understand the difference. Very disappointing.
    Fortunately for me, I reached out to the seller, and he apologized for the mistake and we reached an agreement on the $ value to refund my way.
    I still wear that 18038 as a daily driver!

    I fully agree that the unboxing experience is key. It's just the magic moment when you buy a luxury item and you thought weeks if not months on whether you really want to buy it, you track the shipment and it finally arrives. Opening the box is just an important part of this voyage to own the piece.
    It is a bit of cost -- both cost for the boxes and labor for just those 5 min of unboxing that I've to pay too in the end, but I totally think it is worth it.

    100% with you on the eBay authentication; it’s a joke! I purchased a NOS Full Set 16570 and after going through the authenticators it was clear that they scratched the back of the lugs when removing the bracelet to check the serial. This should be a BUYERS CHOICE not forced upon us. I don’t need some “expert” mishandling my piece🖕

    Hi guys. Great video. Regarding your comment about eBay not picking up on some of the finer details that made a vintage watch a mis-match….
    Really, their job is to 1) Authenticate the watch; is the watch and everything accompanying the watch genuine? This is a Yes or No answer.
    And 2) inspect the condition of the watch. Does it match the sellers description.
    You also mention how important it is to buy the seller which is great advise.
    When it comes to the fine fine details of the watch, a buyer will be relying on super-experts like yourselves.
    A buyer purchasing through ebay shouldn’t rely on the ebay authentication process to spot 100% match correctness of parts in vintage watches. That’s down to the dealer to check it and confirm it.
    Keep up the enjoyable content. Big love from London. 👍🏼

    The Grand Seiko SBGA413 Shunbun (formerly USA exclusive but not anymore) is a completely different watch than the Snowflake (SBGA211).
    Different case, different dial texture, different colour, different story/inspiration. The pattern (which is in a very subtle pink colour) that they used here is called the lion's mane pattern and represents cherry blossom in Spring (it's 1 out of 4 watches from this particular 4 Seasons collection).
    I was honestly a bit shocked as this is about as basic as it gets when it comes to Grand Seiko knowledge and he got it completely wrong ;)
    Especially with such a popular piece as the pink SBGA413, aka the Sakura (yes, I know there are other pink Sakura dial GS models but this is the OG Sakura that everyone wanted, a really popular model).
    That being said, it's nice to see a Grand Seiko in your store, props for that. Much nicer watches than the usual suspects for me personally but obviously not very interesting for Grey market dealers like y'all.

      @@jeffdj1975 Well, the actual snowflake dial texture is white and really looks like snow imo. It hasn't been used very often, most recently there was a new Evo 9 GMT watch using the Snowflake texture in a light gray, very nice watch (SBGE285 aka "Mistflake"). This Sakura's lion's mane texture on the other hand has been used in many different models and has been called many different things. It's arguably the most popular dial pattern they do. It has been called a lion's mane (SBGA403), a sea of clouds (SBGP017), cherry blossom (SBGA413), the sky at night in Ginza and many other things. It's a really nice pattern and I like almost all of the watches that have it.

One had a non-chrono bracelet mounted on a chrono, so the lugs didn't match up great. The other was advertised with incorrect model # (ladies model # for a men's watch). You need to get a Kraft tape (paper tape) machine.get one from ULine ,Grainger or Staples maybe. One with a handle and can measure the tape and it should have a water tank. Also, you mentioned being under the camera. Do you keep a log of start/end time of the boxing per customer. Would be helpful if you ever had to pull video, beats combing through hours of video.

      Decrease

    • @Nick-xw3dk
      @Nick-xw3dk ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A MASSIVE DECREASE...... not to be rude but a bust down watch in most true watch enthusiast eyes might as well be a fake watch. If I bought a ferrari, took it home drilled 900 holes in it, covered it with nonsense, would I be able to sale it for the same price even though I have only owned it for one day? NO and same goes for a watch, if it has diamonds on it they better have come directly from the watchmaker with factory set stones plain and simple. The world and mostly America has been completely mislead and brainwashed by rappers and celebrities who all wear diamond watches, they make common normal people think that because it sparkles they are wearing the most expensive coolest thing ever when really its a crock of dog shit and wasted money. Hope that answers your question I think a lot of peoples who opinions actually matter in the industry would agree with me.

    please use a dark background when doing the closeups of the watches; it's difficult to really see them clearly with a bright background(when you hold them up to the camera). Also, allow at least 5-6 seconds to hold them instead of the 3-4 seconds you normally do. We'd love to see them up close. Thanks guys!

      There's always some chance the battery could leak and cause issues, but I'm guessing that only comes into play if a watch sits for 5+ years. That being said, I'm always a bit leery of a watch sitting completely idle for that long, as it might decide not to move again after that long (I have a car I made that mistake with, and I have a feeling I'm about to be involved in a big project to get it running again).
