This is one of my favorites. I think you'd also love "For Your Eyes Only." I can't be sure, but the word Amber was trying to think of could be "modulate." Another great reaction!!! 🥰
Sheena is one of the most underrated singers ever. She has a vast catalogue of beautiful ballads and pop songs you should continue to explore. "The Lover In Me", "For Your Eyes Only", "Strut", and "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)" would be just scraping the surface!
Sheena Easton had one of the purest voices you could ever hear in the 80's. There are many versions of this song done live by Sheena that are incredible, and awesome. Many people talk about her James Bond song from the movie For Your Eyes Only, and to me its the best Bond song ever. But this song, Almost Over You, is an amazing song and Sheena sings it to perfection. I am glad you guys reacted to this classic!
Sheena Easton was the first Reality TV break-out star Born in Bellshill, South Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1959, Sheena Orr (her maiden name) earned a scholarship to attend the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. While taking classes from 1975 to 1979, she sang at night with a band. She was married for a short time in 1979; though she divorced her husband, she decided to keep her new last name, Easton. A tutor suggested that she audition for Esther Rantzen, who produced The Big Time for the BBC. The Big Time took people with potential in a particular area and helped them try to achieve fame or make a career while a camera crew documented their lives; earlier subjects had included a gymnast aspiring to be a trapeze artist, a comedian, and a prospective professional wrestler. Easton took a shot, and was chosen for the show. The rest is history!
Just a crystal clear, smooooth, and classy voice from Sheena Easton! I agree: one of the James Bond themes by her: For Your Eyes Only is a great one by her!! HUGS, YA'LL!!!
FINALLY!!! Been waiting for you two to listen to this one! This song really shows off her singing!! This is just ONE of many awesome Sheena hits you haven't listened to yet! More big hits from her - "You Could Have Been With Me" "Strut" "For Your Eyes Only" (a James Bond theme) "Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair)" "When He Shines" "Modern Girl" Two songs written and produced for her by Prince - "Sugar Walls" and "101" Two songs produced by Babyface for her - "The Lover In Me" and "No Deposit, No Return" I hope that you eventually listen to them all! PS - Saw her live several times and THAT is her real voice. No studio effects - her voice is that amazing live.
I had a crush on her from the first I saw/heard her performing the theme song of the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only. Y’all need to do that one next! Beautiful voice, beautiful lady!!❤❤❤
Sheena was really good friends with Prince. He wrote a handful of songs for her to sing. "Sugar Walls" and "You Got the Look" were 2 of her bigger hits written with Prince.
Sheena is an amazing singer, I feel like she's very underrated too. Everybody knows 9 to 5 (Morning Train), most people write her off as just being another pop singer but she's got so much more than that. "For Your Eyes Only" is a must (another James Bond theme), and if you enjoyed this one then you have to check out "I Wouldn't Beg For Water" as it's very much the same style of song.
Sheena Easton was a real singer's singer with a lot of nuance, wide range, and crystal clear tone. She was the first pop music, power ballad belter who paved the way for later belter divas like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Mariah Carey who came years after her. You should hear "You Could Have Been with Me", by Sheena, as well.
Sheena's Sugar Walls is a Prince song, while For Your Eyes Only is her best ballad, a James Bond theme. She was also in the Prince U Got the Look video.
If you want to see Sheena's Story, and how she came to be discovered, Look for a BBC TV Show called "The Big Time" Hosted by Esther Rantzen, Broadcast in the 80s.
This shows her heart. That’s probably why I love her version of Wind Beneath My Wings…she has no need to embellish to make you feel the heart of the lyric. I also adore When He Shines and I Wouldn’t Beg For Water.
Had a huge crush on Sheena Easton. She is Scottish and listening to her speak makes me smile. She is absolutely beautiful but a voice that is surreal. And what a style she had back in the 80's. She was the definition of 80's style. This is a beautiful song. Check out "Strut", "The Lover in Me" and "For Your Eyes Only (James Bond soundtrack)", "Sugar Wall (written by Prince)".
Love this. Thank you for giving Sheena her due. She's largely been forgotten as far as having one of the best female voices. Her Prince song 101 is a different sound altogether. Much more urgent vocal approach to fit the lyrics, and very cool production. For another ballad, I Wouldn't Beg For Water, Weekend in Paris, Wind Beneath My Wings are all good. Sugar Walls is interesting, I think another Prince-penned song about sex that was very suggestive from a top 40 female singer at the time. Her voice did well in several pop genres. Anyway, thanks again. This was a treat and definitely may me smile.
omg what a voice. ive always loved her from the first time i heard her on for your eyes only to her epic ballad with Kenny Rogers weve got tonight. Arent we lucky that we grew up in the 80s where all this incredible authentic talent existed and there was such sensitivity and tenderness in the music?
Always been a fan of her more up-tempo stuff, like "Sugar Walls", but I'd forgotten how incredible of pure vocalist she was with the ballad tunes like this one!
One of my absolute all time favorite singers. I've been a fan since she started and have everything of hers but 2 CDs that were not released in the U.S. . Thank you guys for getting on the Sheena bandwagon! Enjoy the ride down this amazing rabbit hole!
I don't remember this one. I asked my wife if she knew the title, she says she didn't remember. But when it started playing she sang every word after not hearing it since the 80's! Impressive!
I was head over heels for Sheena Easton back in the day. I have all her albums and a bunch of singles too. I've also had the privilege of seeing her in concert twice. Absolutely amazing voice who defined the power ballad during the 1980s. Other songs to definitely check out include her version of "Wind Beneath My Wings," "For Your Eyes Only" (the theme from the James Bond), "101" (one of several collaborations with Prince), and "When He Shines."
You guys are Soo wise beyond your years, for you 2 to pick up on Soo much details as far as voice, instrumental & words. You 2 are old souls. Us, old folks appreciate that you can enjoy our generations music.
Here's some Sheena Easton trivia for you. She sang the title track for the James Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only." She is the only James Bond title singer that appears in the song.
You guys NEED to listen to Barbra Streisand especially her younger days because Babs had that type of range. She still has it in a more matured fashion but especially in her early movies, Funny Girl (Don't Rain on My Parade), Hello Dolly! (Before the Parade Passes By). Also check our her duet with the great Judy Garland, Happy Days Are Here Again/Come On Get Happy.
Absolutely love this beautiful talented woman. When i think of Sheena i cant help but think of Miami Vice 😊. For Your Eyes Only is another awesome pick 🕊️💜
Great reaction guys! Love Sheena! Loved the 80's. You like her and you like Prince... well let's see a reaction to their duet "You Got the Look" ... you won't be disappointed. see ya next time around.
I already had a crush on Sheena, long before this came out in '83. The idea that she might have had arcade-sized video games at home (even though this is only a video -- not a documentary) made her a goddess.
She has such a phenomenal voice. One of the strongest female artist of the 80s. For another incredible female voice of the 80s check out Syreeta and her duet with Billy Preston With You Im Born Again. Also more from the 90s: Oleta Adams. For Sheena Easton check out the James Bond movie hit by her For Your Eyes Only

Sheena was always under rated. I love her. Her Scottish accent is fabulous.
She didn’t seem underrated in the 80’s. She was very popular. Her voice is amazing and sensitive. So much emotion and power.
That was the only thing good about her, was her Scottish accent. JMO
Morning Train was her first big hit, and Modern Girl and Sugar Walls were others. She also sang For Your Eyes Only for the James Bond movie.
*For Your Eyes Only* the epitome of a Sheena Easton power ballad
For Your Eyes Only is a wonderful song!

"Strut" by Sheena Easton. Pure '80s goodness, and one that will definitely get you moving.
You'll need to find a video with the lyrics, very important for "Strut".
