I love that last shot of Andy. Pretty much tells you that Andy will never be the same after that and he never was. That doll was the highlight of his childhood and at the same time was the thing that killed his childhood. Loss of innocence, if ever there was.

Yeah. It symbolizes how much Andy won't be the same anymore after what he went through. When viewed through an allegoric lens, him looking back at Chucky's charred remains pretty much symbolizes Andy looking back at his childhood, the very thing that died with that doll. Chucky's actions will haunt him forevermore. He watched the very thing he loved the most become a monster and try to kill him. That look of betrayal and trauma in his face and the ending theme convey his loss of innocence just perfectly. He just wanted a doll, and he instead got a permanent psycological scar. His life went down the drain from pretty much the very moment he laid eyes on that doll.
All he wanted was a Good Guy Doll. Instead, he got a Possessed Good Guy Doll, Trauma, PTSD, and a Broken Heart Poor Kid. He still had the strength to try and persevere, but of course no one believed him

Magnificent performance by, The young Alex Vincent...that chilling look Andy's character gives at the end. Signifies everything all captured in that one frame...An only child with no friends with a struggling single mother making ends meat in a crummy town, and then too beeing betrayed by his one and only friend.
The thing is the doll was never his friend. It was a grown man that was a murder in that crummy town and was wanted by the police. And this man was a voodoo practitioner to. He got into that doll to not die by getting killed by Detective Mike and in the end Mike does Kill him.

It represents very well that, from that moment on, Andy's life would become a swirling torrent of misery. He lost everything. His mom, his home, his childhood, his innocence... and his life.
This movie stops being scary and just gets sad and depressing by the ending! A kid was fighting a psycho/sociopath named Charles Lee Ray who wouldn’t hesitate to torture Andy! The kid had people even his own mom not believing him at first and later in the movie he’s crying fearing for his life even crying as he sees Charles climbing the stairs to swap souls! Charles is willing to swap Andy’s body so that HE’S stuck forever and becomes human so he’ll feel pain! This is more than a doll movie it’s about a kid dealing with a psychopathic POS and then has to deal with PTSD for the rest of his life!
Everything about this movie is great. And ill tell you all why. 1. It takes a completely different concept (at the time), and goes with it, all with the intent of showing audiences that dolls arent just for little kids, nor are they innocent. The story is near perfect. The way that chucky is portrayed is damn near perfect. His voice manages to sound like both a derranged psychopath, as well as a kids best friend at other points. Over all, this movie is a massive milestone in the art of slasher cinema. I love you.
Just sucks it’s gonna be in a new universe, Brad isn’t gonna voice Chucky for the very first time and none of the people from the original are connected to it in any way, it’s gonna be by MGM, the Universal one we all have come to love and know however will still make more movies they say with Brad as the voice of chucky so it’s gonna be weird with two different “chuckys” the new one, the “Buddi” doll and the classic “Good Guy” doll, I can’t wait to see it too but I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed

Andy is a 13 year old kid. So here's what I don't like. I mean Chuckie a malfunctioning robot toy. That's like something out of sci-fi. And why would 13 year old want a doll. It makes sense with a 6 year old, but what kind of 13 year old boy wants a talking doll. Plus it's even more scary when you know Chuckie is a doll possesses by a serial killer. Show dont tell, a simple but important thing that hollywood has forgotten. Chucky became a symbol of horror and evil much like Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger had. They didnt want a sequel but honestly it was inevitable.
Rewatching the first child play makes me realized that chucky was so creepy and scary, seed and the TV series makes chucky an comedian and makes everyone forget how scary chucky was it sh3ended after the first one

Honestly I would hope once tha franchise ends that it ends similarly to this with an adult Andy finally ending his years of pain n mental torture. I feel like that EVERYTHING that made Chucky scary was ALL in this film. He didn't resort to somewhat comedic ways to off someone and compared to the other later movies when he talked he wasn't really saying anything for the lack of being funny. He was a PISSED OFF DEAD KILLER Living in the body of a doll that was slowly becoming human and he was just rabid and gone psycho. As for Andy and his Mom, it really was a sad story for them as well considering they were not doing so well financially as well as emotionally considering that the father passed away and the ONLY THING that they thought would take that pain away only to cause not only just grief but an non believable story that only to be seen to believe was a doll possessed by a deranged serial killer. I watch the ending for this as well as other movies and I ask myself if sequels weren't a thing for the 80's and this didn't branch off like it did, how would it have held up to today? You have all these stand alone movies that never even had a sequel and they are good, but this one I always speculate that if it didn't have anymore sequels to go by what fan theories would be.
I think that could be because CP1 was more an horror tale ( like the ones appearing in tales from the crypt or The Twilight Zone) than a slasher movie. Although Don Mancini created it, I always preffered the way Tom Holland made the movie. With this dark and serious tone. That is why I consider the MGM studio's Chucky to be very different from the Universals one.
How can you not feel bad for Andy…?He loved everything about Good Guys. That’s all he wanted was a Good Guy doll. How traumatizing it must be for your best friend suddenly wanting to kill you. This certainly traumatized me when I saw this for the first time at only 7 years old. I had a My Buddy doll at the time and threw him in the closet and locked it after i saw this movie.

This movie stops being scary and just gets sad and depressing by the ending! A kid was fighting a psycho/sociopath named Charles Lee Ray who wouldn’t hesitate to torture Andy! The kid had people even his own mom not believing him at first and later in the movie he’s crying fearing for his life even crying as he sees Charles climbing the stairs to swap souls! Charles is willing to swap Andy’s body so that HE’S stuck forever and becomes human so he’ll feel pain! This is more than a doll movie it’s about a kid dealing with a psychopathic POS and then has to deal with PTSD for the rest of his life!
Classic horror movie. The best of the franchise.
Everything about this movie is great. And ill tell you all why.
1. It takes a completely different concept (at the time), and goes with it, all with the intent of showing audiences that dolls arent just for little kids, nor are they innocent. The story is near perfect. The way that chucky is portrayed is damn near perfect. His voice manages to sound like both a derranged psychopath, as well as a kids best friend at other points.
Over all, this movie is a massive milestone in the art of slasher cinema. I love you.

Just sucks it’s gonna be in a new universe, Brad isn’t gonna voice Chucky for the very first time and none of the people from the original are connected to it in any way, it’s gonna be by MGM, the Universal one we all have come to love and know however will still make more movies they say with Brad as the voice of chucky so it’s gonna be weird with two different “chuckys” the new one, the “Buddi” doll and the classic “Good Guy” doll, I can’t wait to see it too but I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed

@@anthonys.8835 Actually, it's worse what they have planned for the remake. Apparently, Chuckie won't be a doll possesses by a serial killer. They changed it where he's a malfunctioning robot toy. Andy is a 13 year old kid.
So here's what I don't like. I mean Chuckie a malfunctioning robot toy. That's like something out of sci-fi. And why would 13 year old want a doll. It makes sense with a 6 year old, but what kind of 13 year old boy wants a talking doll. Plus it's even more scary when you know Chuckie is a doll possesses by a serial killer. You really think a malfunctioning toy can compete with that. It sounds like something they ripped off from Westworld.

Show dont tell, a simple but important thing that hollywood has forgotten. Chucky became a symbol of horror and evil much like Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger had. They didnt want a sequel but honestly it was inevitable.

Rewatching the first child play makes me realized that chucky was so creepy and scary, seed and the TV series makes chucky an comedian and makes everyone forget how scary chucky was it sh3ended after the first one

This is where is it all ends IMO, Chucky dies….he dies, leaving an innocent 6 year old scarred completely.
His girlfriend would never recover his broke remains.
He dies, not knowing Sarah, whose husband he killed, someone who he kidnapped and stabbed at the womb….has in fact survived, she would survive and later give birth to a daughter named Nica sometime after this.
Speaking of the pierces, just like they did not long after this, Andy and his mother would move from their apartment. The Scarring incident are too much to bear
And even if there was no child’s play 2, this would still show the scarring of A 6 year old child. He would never be the same.
I think this ending is not a chill one, including it gives that feeling that you just went through the biggest and worst event of your life and are afraid and reluctant to leave the room, just like andy
I feel so bad for Andy at the ending. All he wanted was a best friend. But now it’s too late. Andy’s best friend is dead. 😢

Child's Play 1 is a masterpiece, and one of the creepiest in the series. There is sadness in the development of the sequel where she is separated from her mother.
In my opinion, this music is way too beautiful and sad for a scary movie.
It's sad bc Andy's childhood was ruinned by Chucky, he never will be the same after that

Honestly I would hope once tha franchise ends that it ends similarly to this with an adult Andy finally ending his years of pain n mental torture. By just staring back at chucky finally dead once n for all but knowing he had a sense of hope of living out tha rest of his life knowing chucky won’t ever come back. N honest even ending it with this song for tha nostalgia. Would be so fitting

Its just a shame from being a little kid to to being almost a man people still though he was crazy not believing that a damn doll wouldn't come to life, you would think after many other people who had saw the same and same story people than tend to believe you after.

I feel like that EVERYTHING that made Chucky scary was ALL in this film. He didn't resort to somewhat comedic ways to off someone and compared to the other later movies when he talked he wasn't really saying anything for the lack of being funny. He was a PISSED OFF DEAD KILLER Living in the body of a doll that was slowly becoming human and he was just rabid and gone psycho.
As for Andy and his Mom, it really was a sad story for them as well considering they were not doing so well financially as well as emotionally considering that the father passed away and the ONLY THING that they thought would take that pain away only to cause not only just grief but an non believable story that only to be seen to believe was a doll possessed by a deranged serial killer.
I watch the ending for this as well as other movies and I ask myself if sequels weren't a thing for the 80's and this didn't branch off like it did, how would it have held up to today? You have all these stand alone movies that never even had a sequel and they are good, but this one I always speculate that if it didn't have anymore sequels to go by what fan theories would be.
I think that could be because CP1 was more an horror tale ( like the ones appearing in tales from the crypt or The Twilight Zone) than a slasher movie. Although Don Mancini created it, I always preffered the way Tom Holland made the movie. With this dark and serious tone. That is why I consider the MGM studio's Chucky to be very different from the Universals one.
The only sequel I liked was Child's Play 2 (1990)

How can you not feel bad for Andy…?He loved everything about Good Guys. That’s all he wanted was a Good Guy doll. How traumatizing it must be for your best friend suddenly wanting to kill you. This certainly traumatized me when I saw this for the first time at only 7 years old. I had a My Buddy doll at the time and threw him in the closet and locked it after i saw this movie.
