This remake was made out of spite to the franchise creator. As he already had plans of continuing the series (which he later did with the TV show) and MGM, who only owns the rights to the first movie but not the rest of the franchise, rushed this remake into production.
Never saw the remake, but i love the original series... It's noticable the difference in tension-building between these analogous scenes.
It is known the 2019 movie would work so much better if it wasn't a Chucky.

The Original 1988 Version
Plots a widowed mother who gives a doll to her son, unaware that the doll is possessed by the soul of a serial killer.
& The Reboot Versión
It follows a family terrorized by a high-tech doll who develops self-awareness and becomes subsequently hostile and murderous.
i like the first movie better than the remake
What a way to spit in the face of a beloved character
What a way to actually change a character for a remake instead making the same story again
It's amazing how in 30+ years of technological growth, they somehow managed to make a shittier animatronic for Chucky! Say what you will, but at least the original Chucky looked like something a child would actually want, not a jaded, 40-year-old day drinker like the new one!

Hottake: The reboot likely would of been less hated if it was an original film instead of slapping the Child’s Play branding on it. Mark Hamill may lack the ruthless and psychotic serial killer energy that Brad Dourif gave off, but he did carried the reboot.
Mark Hamill was the best part of voicing Chucky in the remake. The original movie is more frightening.

On the Chucky series, Andy Barclay disposed a multiple of Chucky dolls in the truck off the road, shot a new Tiffany doll (Bride of Chucky), Tiffany doll (without it's leather jacket with Jennifer Tilly's soul) got hit by a truck, Jennifer Tilly (possessed by Tiffany Valentine) in prison close to be executed, Andy Barclay possibly dead or alive, Glen and Glenda died and their souls back in the GG doll, and the whereabouts of Nica and Kyle, maybe unknown.🧐🤔
Child's play is such an amazing film. I hope we get a sequel. This story has potential to be my favorite

The remake was nothing at all like the original. Old Chucky was scary, funny and charismatic but 2019 Chucky was a malfunctioning robot without any charisma and humor

The 2019 version reminds me of the movie M3AGAN. An A.I. Robot doll that malfuntionscand goes crazy. The original Childs Play was more suspenseful and funny. The storyline was good. The A.I. one was boring, and maybe they should have named it something else. The plot is nothing like the original.

The child's play remake was so terrible and trash, the makers of it should be thrown in prison for at least a mandatory ten year sentence 🫥👎.
Imo it wasnt that bad. Comparing it to the og is like comparing a valstrax to a rathalos. They're their own breed of horror films help they creatora of the remake kept asking the originals director for advice and consent.
