Try upping the weight on the jig head. I discovered they would follow a lot, up and down. Once I went up to a 1-2oz jig head they were way more committed on the fall. Instantly doubled the amount of fish I was getting to bite. Pair it with 4.8” fat swing impact and a small treble stinger right under the belly.
Seen few different vids guys in Wisconsin using swim baits for trout and salmon casting from small boats.during the summer . they get west winds few days they have 55 degrees at the gap . They normally casting not fare from the gap . Guys in California fishing land lock kings just dead stick white tubes with chunk of sardine on the hook . They will dead stick few rods at the same time or jig with one dead stick the other. Needs to be no wind to do it .. your going to need to design your own jigs keep doing that.. can use bondo for lead jig molds
Glad you O boys are picking up on jigging for Kings. It's been a Lake Michigan thing for many years now and a blast. One thing I can't wrap my head around is how y'all release fish back so much lol definitely not the norm on LM. If it hits the deck, it goes home. Just interesting differences, nothing more.
To add to her note, expect a message of inquiry on insta about salmon restorative effort volunteering or work, I can't get over this draw I have to what you shared a handful of times. Dialing it in man, great vid and striving as always!
Great vid. I'm planning to vertical jig on an inflatable kayak in lake O soon. A bit concerned about being pulled by a chinook and being unable to steer the kayak while fight the fish at the same time if I hook one on, but hopefully I can manage. I tried jigging on a 1oz spoon in choppy water and it was difficult to get the lure to go straight down, or the boat was drifting too much (don't have spot lock). I figure that trying to stay in the same area will be one of the main challenges, aside from finding the fish itself. What's the heaviest jig you throw in?
@@danthefisher thanks for the info. I see you're a member of LOU. I came across your post about jigging today coincidentally enough! Thanks for sharing with the community.
In the first 4 minutes of this video you are not vertical jigging. You are trolling. I thought this video was about vertical jigging? I will not watch a video of a person that doesn't know the difference.

Spot lock is very key for this jigging. Ive used up to 2.5 oz jigs
