Dr. Ann makes me feel so validated! I was shamed growing up for the same traits I find so cool in her. So if I think she's awesome, then I must be awesome, too, right? She's just so engaged and in awe of... everything. Her enthusiasm is contagious and always lifts my mood. Thank you, for letting your genuine self shine! 💜

Same here. I started studying to be a veterinarian but had neices and nephews to raise ,so despite working at the clinic, I had to give up my studies. I was always the butt of everyone's joke. I wish I had found Dr. Ann years ago.

And now? What about taking a class or two part-time, that would be required for your degree anyway (like English, psychology, etc), and get those out of the way? Perhaps you could take some of those at a community college, which freq. offer night classes, and have times that are more convenient to adult learner’s time schedules, like if you have children. ‘The journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step’. Good luck!

I used to get very upset when I came home to my dog having destroyed something and be really emotional saying the usual “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!”, I started noticing that he got sadder, scared, and very submissive trying to hide his face when I got home.
I decided that I needed to change what I was doing by putting away things like my new Xbox controller (he totaled my favourite, limited edition controller) and making sure that he had more things to do whenever I left the house, as well as giving no reaction to anything “naughty” he’d done.
It took a few weeks but he improved every time I got back until he’s now happy for me to come home again, regardless of anything he’s done.
I never want my dog to be scared of me or unhappy to see me again!
You don’t have to be happy about what they’ve done, just ignore it and the dog as you come in and clean the mess without showing any signs of anger or frustration, at the end of the day it’s the human’s fault, not the dog’s.

To the end of dog guilt, they definitely feed off our signals some, but I have on more than one occasion only realized that my dog had done something she shouldn't have *because* she acted guilty. Yes I recognize that this does *not* mean they feel guilt like we do, but she is certainly doing something more than responding to me on the spot.

My neighbours went away on honeymoon and their dogsitter left their dog alone with her cat (she wasn’t supposed to take the dog to her house, but did anyways) and the cat and dog got into it and the cat died :( my neighbours called me in a panic to go pick her up and I have NEVER seen an animal so guilty and so sad and so scared. She didn’t stop shaking until her owners got home the next day

I do believe that dogs feel guilt. One of my pups bit me a few years ago and it was a pretty bad injury. He was going nuts about someone at the door and I grabbed him from behind to keep him from charging. I surprised him and he bit me forearm. He immediately let go and just sat down calmly. He quit his “attack” and barking immediately. He knew he messed up.
That night I put my injured arm in front of his face. He covered both his eyes with his paws and wouldn’t look anymore. He absolutely knew he messed up. I did get a tetanus shot and healed ok. I do have a scar on my forearm. I’m the only person he’s ever bit and it was just the one time thing. I do truly believe it was because he was in defense mode and I grabbed him from behind and startled him into biting. I believe it was my fault.

11:05 Yeah, no, that's BS. I don't have to notice evidence before my dog acts guilty. I'll literally walk into the house and greet my dog happily, and she responds by slinking away guiltily. And only *after* I notice that behavior do I find the chewed open container of food she stole off the countertop. IDK if it's true "guilt" (whatever that means) but she's definitely not just following my cues. She knows she did wrong without me having to tell her off first.

    • @webbess1

Guilt seems like it would be a social emotion. I don't think most cats get it.

    • @a_lethe_ion
      @a_lethe_ion 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Cats are social animals. one of the few social felines, but their group organisation is more loose, its like a bunch of smaller friends live together in bigger, loosely associated group.
They are solitary Hunters, but they enforce their territory and if they consider you part of the in group and you behave and are nice they will also try to protect you.
But cats have personality so they like some more than others.
But they have a different sense of rule enforcement.
Mine don't jump on the kitchen counter ever, but they have things they know annoy me that they do when they really want my attention - and never any other time.
