@@1ninjatiger Ffs elite soldiers? They are no better or worse than other soldiers. Believe me I was one of them for 20 odd years. It's like playing dress up for the daylight hours, primarily for traditional reasons, and secondly as part and parcel of attracting the tourists. Depending on time of year, basically as it gets dark, the normal camouflaged soldiers take over to man the posts required.
Then those dress up soldiers return to barracks to clean and polish their kit for the next time they are on duty.
Granted no need for tourists etc to get up and personal, they can still get their pictures.

As a veteran of the US Marines, I'm in sympathy with the Guards. They're military professionals performing an exacting duty; they're NOT actors, scenery, or props. I can understand how people want to take pictures of the Guards, or have their pictures taken WITH the Guards. Obviously, the British Army and Government are well aware that the kind of pageantry and imagery they present are impressive and fascinating, and have made it possible, within reason, for people to record what might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them. But those people need to understand where the boundaries are and respect them. In addition to simple courtesy and good manners that everyone should practice in all situations, there are SIGNS! My opinion is the tourist or anyone should not be allowed past those black posts at the front. No one should be near the horses or men. If they want pics they can take them from behind the footpath where the black posts are. People there show no respect for what these guards stand for. New Zealand.

I'm glad someone else noticed this. Sure, a lot of the time the tourists are being disrespectful idiots, but on this occasion that guy did no harm. The soldier changed his route at just the point when that tourist was distracted by the shouting and looking the other way. Everyone's mindlessly jumping on the guy but if they just spent a few seconds analysing the incident, they'd see that there was no bad intent from this particular civilian.
