I used one on a mobile home one time,in a tight spot i didnt want to get in with a flame, and its held up for 4 or 5 years now. Those things are pricey as hell, and they definitely wouldnt be my first or second choice but the one ive used in a pinch has held up so far.🤞
I think in a practical situation like “not outside KRAUSS” lol would definitely be a better situation!! I think I may try this again in the future but no where near the scenario like this one!! At least you confirmed the sustainability of them!
💯 percent someone stepped on that press fitting causing a leak and why I only use solder fittings unless it’s a mini split repair above ground . Love your vids man! Stay humble!
For sure they did 🤦♂️ the issue in the beginning when I first did it was, it was a brazed elbow that more then likely stepped on, so I said what the hell 🤷♂️ I wouldn’t be against these in a evap Stuart or by the condenser. Appreciate you brother 🙏
@@ykatz5492 I used one in a tight spot where I didn't want to get in with a flame inside a mobile home by the evaporator. It's been going strong for 4 or 5 years now, there pricey tho
a few things, first time I read this, this morning , on an OEM site, that hard pipe must be used for the first three feet on a connection to the compressor, or or a vibration eliminator installed. My first 20 years in the trade I never used soft tubing... everything was type L hard ARC and brazed fittings, cushy-clamps and strut or F&M plates and split rings with threaded rod. I only use hard pipe with any push to connect and press fittings (last 10 years or so). zero leaks so far. Us older techs tend to be resistant to change on new technology, I try hard to give it a whirl. but I noted there are limitations to some of these fittings. I would never put them underground or on the ground or unsupported on both sides. Remember, this in not a hard connection, and with that flex comes risk. That piping looks like it took a beating. If I were to try that one again, I would support it and use straight clean Type L hard pipe. I saw online One 3/4" fitting was $30. vs about $1 for a sweat fitting. you do unquestionably save on time, Nitro, Acetylene stick... fire risk and fire guard, and hot works permits... but the fitting cost adds up fast.If it screws up it usually costs two fittings to fix it ( I don't believe these are removable like a shark bite)... at least your giving it a whirl though. Also you can't account for Landscapers and home owners. Then again, they cause you to make money.
That’s great information Mike! I don’t think it was in the ideal position honestly, especially right at ground level and at a walking path so I wouldnt completely fault the fitting, some user error. Appreciate the feedback, I may give it a shot again, I don’t think it would be in a condo, apartment scenario, would maybe be inside vs outside as well and at a dedicated home!!
this is why i stayed out of residential service...underground line sets and crawling in hot attics...not for me...been doing commercial hvac & refrig for 24 years...rooftop units only
It’s what I live for 🤣 😂 specifically the attics!! Seriously tho, I contemplate that sometimes or making a larger push to the commercial side, in due time!
I’ve got a 1/4 and 1/2 zoomlock coupler protected by lineset cover on my last job. Saw this and got scared but hopefully it was just because someone stepped on it and broke the seal.
As much HVAC stuff as I've watched, I've never seen a lineset like that. How will it NOT be destroyed, run that way? Good fix; hopefully no one rides a mower over it.
Man those zoom locks and profits are absolute garabage! We tried the profits for a year, have went back to every call I used them on. I do wanna give press fittings a try though!
Son of a bishhh!! I have a few pro fits that are just collecting dust. What’s your experience for doing them at say an evap or a coupling scenario? I’ll get my hands on press here soon
In my opinion press and crimp on is a fail point . At least with brazing you are making 2 pieces into 1 . I mean I get the purpose and it’s a good thing in some situations but I would trust a braze over a snug fit any day .
@@KoolinwithKrauss also with those types of fittings if the tubing gets moved it weakens the connection a lot easier which will cause a leak . So it’s not necessarily a problem with the fittings necessarily but could be with something that happened because of people or animals .
I still can't understand running linesets underground. Just seems like its destined for failure. Moisture intrusion, leaks, opportunities for getting stepped on and or hit with lawn equipment, oil traps...etc....not bagging on how it goes in FL....just doesn't seem like the best way to run refrigerant lines. Please enlighten me if you have more information...I'm definitely not HVAC Jesus That wrap on the van is dope as hell
Bro I’m 💯 with that!! I can’t say why, it’s just how “Florida does it” from how I heard Bryan Orr say it, so I just ride with that 😂 but no clue brother wish I had a better answer. But it’s just dumb
I'm in Florida and all linesets aren't run like that. Most single family homes in So. Fl are run up the side of the house with a lineset cover into the attic and dropped depending where they need to be. It also sucks on condos where the condensers are on the roof and the linesets are in the walls floor to floor. They might have to open a hole on an upstairs apt for a leak in another apt. Neighbors love that. lol
Why are the pipes going underground and why they dont have any insulation. Putting pipes into the ground comes with alot of issues if not done right and that job you are on dude that is not done right.
It’s just pure stupidness 😂 but in Florida most linesets run through a chase and are under ground! Why they do it that way is still a mystery to me. On new homes they sometimes run it out the wall but 90% of the time underground
@KoolinwithKrauss ok awesome. I saw that and was like man.. I thought he was doing good. Good job on the rebrand. Those little things matter a lot when building a brand and a following.
Looks like you have the same protruding bone under your knee cap just like me...dude i can only work about 4 hours on my left need and it's over....hvac on bro...
Per the manufacturer, they emailed me about how thrilled they were with the installation!! But I will say it’s would be my error in terms of the application and location. Not ideal when there’s neglectful others who aren’t as aware of their surroundings

That filter dryer look more than a year and a day old 🤔🤔 lol
Would you recommend for a mini split above ground in wall I wanna try it since the line may be to small for brazing
Yes I’ve used them on a Mitsubishi above ground no issues but no ground contact is key and secure isolate as best ya can

Very cool that you followed. You learn the most from errors. Thank You for sharing you experiences.
Appreciate the feedback!! Definitely best way to learn.
I have a press tool, did a large job with it, waiting for failure. I have converted back to just brazing again. Hard to trust rubber seals.
For sure! Curious to see if/when they do start failing. Brazing won’t forever be eliminated
especially when subject to weather and temp fluctuation. Sure it'll hold for a while, but nothing last forever anymore
Dude i feel you on this ....evertime i try to help out a custy and then save them some it never fails it bites me in the arse
Straight up dude!! We gave it a shot! We will just keep on giving em a hand when we can 🫡

Come join us on the roof tops in Arizona. Plenty of Vitamin-D.
Good job jake its business and life good techs hard to fine bizzy air in the house
Appreciate it dude!! That’s the plan is to find the best or at least those willing to strive for being the best!!
Any fitting is other then braze is allowed to leak. There are fitting coming out that are zero leak fittings but they have not been released yet.
Stay brute solder works just as well as brazing
You made the best of a bad situation Jake ... That unit lives to cool another day ... Thx
Thanks brother Ed!! Will always stretch that system out as long as possible for a customer!
I’ve got a 1/4 and 1/2 zoomlock coupler protected by lineset cover on my last job. Saw this and got scared but hopefully it was just because someone stepped on it and broke the seal.
I think this scenario won’t be very common for most (unless in my market) hoping all goes well with it for you with it.
As much HVAC stuff as I've watched, I've never seen a lineset like that. How will it NOT be destroyed, run that way? Good fix; hopefully no one rides a mower over it.
Man that’s how they all are down here!! Definitely a case of the “Wild West”
8 weeks left of trade school and everyday I wish I was working with you! Love the videos, educational, the content and the way you film is great!
Let’s goooo!!! Appreciate it, get after it and crush it 💪 🫡
Someone stepped on it.
And that someone sucks 😂
I remember that first video! 😂 keep up the good work man 🤙🏽
Thought I had a chance 🤣 hope to see you back bro 🫡
@6:48, I would have had a shop vac handy to pull any shavings out of that line.
That’s good idea, never had an issue with the spin swag with shavings, pretty smooth but from the cut definitely
Nice fix Krauss👌🏼🔥
Appreciate it brother Dom 🫡

i do agree. stands would be a good area with blocks. would look nicer and PRO (-: keep the videos coming Bro
Appreciate it dude!! Will definitely had the stands and keep this job 💯 as well as the other!! Thanks for the support bro 🫡

No basements that’s probably why it’s done like that
Crazy how people just step on the lineset, seems like youll be back if they keep doing it!
Total disregard for stuff 🤦♂️ some a small percentage of folks that actually give a Eff
the hair back 🥰 whew i love you!!!
Just for you my lady 😘 I love youuu!!

Did sanding cause the failure?
I think it was step all over, not the ideal spot to put the fitting.
What was the tool you used on the drill to prepare the copper pipe after you cut the fitting out @ 6:48?
That’s the spin swage tool, works great
a.co/d/70tvqij
Thanks
Cut the fitting out and return it they’ll refund you and they know why it failed
I’ll have to give that a go!
Did you rebrand
Yes sir!! Same company just the rebrand.

Sweet and a clean s house. Where did you get that?
It was like the Taj Mahal of 💩 houses right? 🤣 😂
i was hoping you would first see how many rods it takes to braze that zoom lock before you cut it out, just for the laughs,
Jam it!!! Such a wasted opportunity on my end 🤦♂️ now I’ll just have to find a way to do that lol
Thats not a zoomlock fitting lol
Sadly… it is. Parker zoomlock PUSH fitting
They suck. That why we don’t use them anymore
For sure!! I can see why 🤦♂️
