Much appreciate the unbiased and honest reviews!.. thank you MFJJ!.. and yes, I've made purchases on Podium Archer... keep up the great work! You are a huge asset to the archery community.
Thank you for your honest reviews! The manufacturers need to start being as honest, for the prices of the flagship bows, we deserve honest numbers! And I know, I bought a flagship bow last year, and after all the add-ons, paid much more for it than any rifle/scope combo I have ever bought! We all need to hold the manufacturers accountable. Just be honest!
I like the way you present the information to the viewer. It doesn’t really matter if the chronograph is off or not as long as every bow is being tested through the same one, it shows the variance between models and deviation from published speeds. Independent testing would hold the manufacturers accountable.

From what I’ve read the IBO speeds testing allows for some variance in draw length, draw weight, and arrow weight. All the mfg use the most beneficial end of those variances and I bet the mfg use the fastest chrono they have as well. If the ibo would tighten the variances, it would help the consumer. Thank you for the reviews. Your testing and descriptions are spot on.
IBO at one point was tested on a 31” draw and the lightest arrow that they could fire at the heaviest weight draw. Or atleast that’s what I have been told in the past but the kicker is the mission series by Mathew’s was tested on a 29” draw to show slower speeds than their flag ship bows. Idk if anything in that is true just what I have heard before
IBO Standard: Draw weight: 80 pounds +/-2 lbs, Arrow weight: 5 grains per pound of draw weight, Draw Length: NONE !!!!! The ATA on the other hand does specify: 70# draw weight +/-.2 Arrow weight of 5 grains per pound and 30" draw + 1/4" but now below 30" What we all think of as IBO is really ATA. The bow in the video can probably do 350+ fps with an inch or so more draw length and more poundage.
As I age I appreciate a smooth draw cycle and solid back wall more and more. Speed is nice, just not at the expense of the overall shooting experience.
Problem with Bowtechs is you can get other Bows that are faster with a great shooting experience which makes it hard to choose a Bowtech over 1 or 2 other brands
The point is not that it’s a speed bow or smooth draw bow. It’s if they are being honest in what they advertised. Same goes with the IBO rating on your smooth draw bow.
I'm glad you have the balls to call the manufacturers out on this issue!! If I lived on the left coast you would get all of my business!! Great content!

Perhaps they should name it the SR 340 , no shame there , it is still fast ! Of course , if it isn't accurate , 400fps doesn't mean a thing ! Just a quick note...I recently drew back a new V3 with the weight scale and no arrow nocked...my scale blew up and my bow dry fired, luckly wasn't even half way through my draw, so string derailed but no damage detected by my bow shop. Just thought I'd pass along, those scales aren't indestructible. Any one else ever have that happen?
Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered a cheaper scale(25$) on amazon, planning on using it maybe 2-3 times so didnt really care about quality n even the cheap 0.01g ones are accurate enough so no need to spend 100+ in my case. Probably wouldnt have drawn it back without an arrow, but u never know. Now ill make sure to always put an arrow in there!
Yeah had one blow up on me before. Felt way too cheap for me to trust it so I always nock an arrow and point out my garage door towards the grass. Luckily my precautions paid off.
I appreciate an unbiased and honest review using real life conditions as you do (minus the whisker biscuit - shud be limb driven drop away for testing). I also appreciate the fact that BowTech is the only company that at least tried to make it right! Or at least the only one you’ve mentioned to send another bow! That speaks volumes!
I believe they use the wb because it's just quicker and easier to put on. He also mentioned in a previous video that the wb on average only reduces speed by 1.5 f/s
How did they try and do it right? They lied by 25 feet? MFJJ had to give the Bowtech 2 extra pounds of draw weight and a drop away rest who ALL OTHER BOWS he tested never got! No, JJ, you're obviously not a moron. In my opinion, your reviews are the most complete and most objective available. I'm a Bowtech shooter and I own several of them. I love the tunability of Bowtech bows and I've owned at least one bow from almost every bow manufacturer in the last 50-some years. The advent of the speed obsession seems to have a direct relationship to the popularity of 3D shooting and, while I dabbled in 3D shooting from time to time, I cut my teeth in field archery and I'm far more interested in tunability, consistency and comfort than speed. I know none of my Bowtechs, including my two SR350s, shoot the claimed speed and I don't really care. I shoot my 350s at 60 lbs. and shoot a 475 gr. arrow for hunting. On the Comfort mod setting my 350s are very consistent (when I do things right), exceptionally smooth, and very quiet - just what I want in a bow.
You are absolutely top notch keep doing what you’re doing. The most honest to the point Information out here. My only regret is I don’t live closer to your shop. Keep on keeping on, take care.
Thanks for your honest reviews JJ. After watching many of your previous tests, I’ve decided to try a few bows and ended up with a Solution SS. Keep up the great work!

I have a 60# sr350 in black , and set at 55# for now . I’m experiencing some left shoulder weakness , and I’m trying build up my arm strength . This bow is a joy to shoot on comfort setting and was easy to sight in . I plan on keeping this bow along time along with my Diamond Deploy SB . All of the bow brands are fast . Pick one up and send some arrows
Maybe show us that the timing off all the bows you test is spot on. You just kind of turn every limb screw randomly. 3/4 top versus full turn bottom etc.
Podium archery is the most real guy out there. He sales all these bows and gives a strait up pound for pound comparison of all bows as accurately as and fairly as he can. I agree all manufacturers stretch the numbers and we all know it. I feel like a more strict standard would be greatly beneficial to the consumer. I wouldn’t even mind if they just said how they got the numbers, for example if it weighs 4.6 bare bow just say that instead of having a bow weighing in at 5.3 on a review. If they get 347 FPS with a bare string on 72lb just say that’s how it got there. Honesty is always popular and glad MFJJ has the balls to put it all out there. Thanks man
Very good. Very fair. I own a Bowtech Invasion. I've had it for a lot of years. It's a great bow. And of course, I'm well aware that every manufacturer mis states the speed of their bows. But some do it more than others. We all know this. I expect it. But what the bow companies need to realize is that when their product shoots 20 or more fps slower than they say it does, they are only hurting themselves. The archery community is not that large. We all talk. We watch videos and read reviews. When this news gets out, hunters don't buy bows and very quickly a manufacturer can be in trouble. That's exactly what happened to Obsession when they consistently lied about their performance for several years in a row. It just about put them out of business. And I agree, the industry should have an independent testing organization that could hold manufacturers to account.
I feel they do it ,to help sales. I truly feel they should be held accountable for false avertisement, hey scent lock got sued over it!! Thanks for the good information!!
I just watched another review of this bow from another shop in the midwest. 30"/70lb 350gr arrow, in performance setting. He got 334fps. So it's pretty much in line with exactly what you came up with. Keep doing what you're doing. It's great content!! Thanks
Thank you for doing this and your honest approach. This is refreshing. I would like to see you test Darton's Spectra E and/or their Maverick II. Also, (because you asked for content ideas) to see the proper approach for a long time bowhunter who uses an index finger caliper style release aide transition to a thumb style release aide (non-hinge style). What things to do, proper technique etc. and any special considerations to be mindful about when transitioning to one for hunting. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Fantastic work boss man!!! You are doing great work. Keep holding them to the fire, will only help the hunting community as a whole. One video I would be interested in that you’ve done some of with elk shape is a start to finish bow build with the details of knots used, what else you’ve seen, why you do the little things you do to build the most accurate bows you can. And then some other videos on start to finish tuning, after paper tuning what can guys do to ensure when hunting they are dead on. You’re a wealth of info and looking forward to future vids
Great honest video. The randomness of how you pick the test subject is very good. I have seen all these videos you have done and its funny how all bows are rated for more then what they claim and like you said that can make it difficult on a customer to now if they can trust the manufactures.
Great to see that your channel has become as mature that manufacturers take your reviews seriously and reach out to you. The best acknowledgement for your hard work next to all the subscribers and followers. To have trustworthy sources of validated information is so valuable for archers (all customers). Manufacturers should make better use and collaborate more with pro shops, who actually know their customers and who offer them (specially the ones on TH-cam) a direct marketing channel all over the world. Specially as we all know that specs on brochures, no matter which product, are always too positive. They can make the difference. Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 and forgive me supporting my local pro shop as shipping costs from the States are sky high.
Thanks for always being unbiased! I appreciate and enjoy your reviews bro. Super helpful! I like the way you approach things. Helps me with my gear decisions for sure.
I do agree with you that there should be an independent testing for speed on bows to keep them all honest. I understand that all companies post IBO speeds at 3xx FPS with numbers that are not accurate and I don’t agree with what. So with what you are doing is what the industry needs to keep them all accountable for what they are marketing their products at. MFJJ I do thank you for what you are doing and showing us all.
You do a great job Josh. Your idea of a third independent party who tests all brands is a phenomenal idea. We as consumers are paying higher prices every year. That being said we need to hold all these brands to a higher standard and refuse to be lied to.
Love love love this. While in the grand scheme of things we as a society need to be more focused on lies of more consequential impact (eg everything reported on in mainstream media), and being really happy that the archery and bow hunting industries over index in their relative concentration of made in USA products (thank you sooo much), we nevertheless should just speak truthfully about bow performance. Why not just say what the equipment does? It’s still all amazing stuff which shouldn’t suffer from marketing claims which damage credibility.
FMJJ is only guy to watch do these reviews. He gives you all you need to know about the bows and other products. Draw cycle, specs, vibration, speeds etc…. If you want a honest review he’s the man
If you need a bow to shoot 350 FPS to harvest anything you might want to just pick up a browning. Haha great review always love these videos. Would like to see some distance shooting to see how the bow holds/points at say i don’t know 40-50 yards? Other than that. I love it.
There is so much hype in IBO speeds it's ridiculous! In almost 40 years of being in the archery game target/hunting I have yet to see a bow that will actually make the speeds listed! The closest one I seen was the old Hoyt deviator from the late 90s! Funny thing is at 70 lb 30-in draw and a 350 grain arrow it hit 328 ft per second in 1998! Today archery companies brag about getting that kind of speed from newest technology yet we really haven't progressed much more in speed stability yes, shoot ability yes, but so much in speed!
I wonder what results all manufacturers would get if they sent you a bow they chose and tuned? Also, this was the fastest bow at 72#. If I'm not mistaken the Levitate was still faster at 70# than this bow, so it would likely be faster at 72# also with everything else being equal? Thanks for the update.
You can tell by your reviews that you are advertising for your shop and self brand. Most of youtube is really just advertising for products. Editing in lifestyle influencer garbage not actual reviews. So thank you and keep it up its appreciated!
Is there a place to have equipment calibrated? Arrow scales , draw scales and chrono? If all equipment is calibrated and verified then that can be taken off the table . Love the videos
my experience: the hand held scales in comparison to a scale used with a draw board show always a higher poundage due to the dynamics involved - with a draw board you can pull the bow really slowly, and the slower the pull, the more precise is the measured poundage.

This bow is slow on SO MANY reviews! Im sorry you bought this bow
Thanks for putting in the extra work. For as much as the bow hunting community has grown in my life it sure would be nice if there was an independent association to approve manufacturers specs. Like weight, speed, and draw weight. Just because bows are so expensive, you should have a true knowledge of what your paying for. That being said speed is one of the last things I’m concerned with in a modern bow.
I Used to work in the industry for a well known manufacturer and one thing that's overlooked is speeds are determined differently. Shooting machine, no D-loop and very possibly a bare shaft. That said you do a great job of reviewing bows and keep it up.
I appreciate Him saying “ I’m not choosing one brand over any other…They all lie about the speed ..All Of Them Lie.” I think this is the only Bow he tested that was sent “just for him to test…. “ He picks a random bow out of the lot he is sent to keep it as fair as possible.
Just for fun what about comparing a sanlida dragon x8 I know it’s from overseas but if it comes in as advertised that might get the point across Thanks for your help and hard work
As a guy that doesn’t buy a new bow every year if there’s that much discrepancy between just any bow you pick up then something’s up and it’s not very appealing to me. Very nice bow but still. Every bow that leaves the manufacturer should be extremely close to the same feel and performance especially with the price tag they carry today. Because they sent you a bow they’ve tested and said something was wrong with the one they sent you to sell to the public to just try to prove something makes me not want to even test out their brand. Sorry guys. Thanks for the honest reviews and vids.
i just bought a brand new bowtech specialist 2 .im getting ready to blast some competition !!! i need to get a good target sight and rest ,any suggestions are greatly appreciated especially from you archery god sir ! lol
Great video appreciate your honesty. Air temperature, humidity and the height above sea level, could change the performance of the bow. Might be worth testing as an additional test, to the standard your doing now. Keep up the good work.
That bow is awesome smooth as butter on comfort and more speed on performance one of the top bows of 2022. Plus it has Deadlock best cam on the market!
I wonder what arrow weight they test with vs what you test with? There should be an industry standard for arrow weight for the speed test. I would love to see a video demonstrating the different in speed due to a light, medium, and heavy arrow weight. To see if that makes much of a difference.
Do you think they are shooting bareshaft arrows? Like without fletch? The fletching does create drag on the arrow at launch. I don't chase speed, but just an idea I had.
GREAT JOB MFJJ!!!!! Like you said they all lie about specs. The world we live in everyone needs to be the fastest, lightest, strongest whatever. Ultimately just be real about your products. Majority of people get the bow they feel best shooting. Lets forget the speeds and weights. Publish the real specs and stand behind your product. In the end customer service wins, not the specs.
I’m glad that bow manufacturers are calling you up, and you’re keeping them accountable. I’m with you on the fact that everyone is way out of line when it comes to IBO speed. I like your idea of 3rd party testing so we can get a better average on actual speeds.
As someone with a short draw 26.5 to 27 depending on the bow I struggle for speed. If they called it the SR335 or SR340 at least it would be closer. I currently shoot a bear divergent eko at 26.5 inch and 71.2 pounds, 397gr arrow at 282fps. Somehow I highly doubt upgrading to this would be faster. I really like this bow though.

Thanks man
I appreciate the fairness of this video ...keep doing what your doing man it's perfectly done
Very good.
Love your unbiased videos and your honest assessment of the new bow market.
Love the content and the way that you are unbiased and completely fair with everything you test. Please keep up the good work
I just watched another review of this bow from another shop in the midwest.
The best real reviews out there, thanks mate keep it rolling! :) Cheers from Spain*
Awesome honest reviews! If possibly would love to see a review of the APA king cobra dangerous game!
Thanks for sharing….I appreciate your honesty 👍🏻
Thanks for always being unbiased! I appreciate and enjoy your reviews bro. Super helpful! I like the way you approach things. Helps me with my gear decisions for sure.
Thanks for your unbiased reviews
Great review and kudos for calling out the manufactures and the “marketing teams” that should be ashamed! I want to shake your hand bro!
Yes except people keep paying the prices every year so nothing is going to change
Great vid brother one of the farest channels bout there ..keep up the good work.
You need to get hold of the apa dangerous game and the Expedition Smoke.
So glad your doing these tests to show that all bow brands don't meet what they say as far as speed goes!!!
Great review! Even if you have the same model bow/ weight/ draw length and shoot the same arrows! They are not all created equal! Sad but true
MFJJ. You sir are the MVP. Honest review thanks.
Thanks for being our independent quality control. 👍
Love your video s just ordered a bow from you a couple weeks ago all the way to Ohio keep up the good work
You can tell by your reviews that you are advertising for your shop and self brand. Most of youtube is really just advertising for products. Editing in lifestyle influencer garbage not actual reviews. So thank you and keep it up its appreciated!
Think your doing a great job and appreciate not having smoke blown up my ass when considering dropping $1,000+ on a new bow
Is there a place to have equipment calibrated? Arrow scales , draw scales and chrono? If all equipment is calibrated and verified then that can be taken off the table . Love the videos
Well said. Great channel. A lot of useful information. Your man cave room 😍👏🔥
my experience: the hand held scales in comparison to a scale used with a draw board show always a higher poundage due to the dynamics involved - with a draw board you can pull the bow really slowly, and the slower the pull, the more precise is the measured poundage.
But that would have little to know effect on why this bow is slow as all his bows of all brands are tested with that scale.
@@toddlymburner5783
True but 'This Bow' isn't "slow"...it's just slower than the IBO by 6FPS -
th-cam.com/video/SokMukg4uMI/w-d-xo.html
Please list (provide link) of all the Bows that mfjj has tested in the past 3 years that are within 6FPS of their IBO...??
Thanks,
John
@@quantumeraser4833 John what are you talking about??? You must have been a person who has bought the bow and is trying to defend it now! I’ve shot the bow at 2 different shops and it was horribly slow and both dealers said that’s a common theme they have heard from customers and other dealers.
I’m not wrong! Lol you can discount my experience with that bow if you don’t believe me. But you can’t discount ALL the online video reviews, all the people who bought one and admit they are slow (some have commented in this very thread).
Go on TH-cam and watch for yourself review after review after review of them being 25-30 FPS slow in comfort and 16-20 FPS slow in performance. EVERYTIME!
Podium archer
Average Jack
Haxen Hunt
Mikes archery
Etc..etc… all have video review showing it being slow. That’s only naming a couple of them. There are many more. They all are not lying dude!
If you like your bow that’s the only thing that should matter anyways. Glad you like your bow!

"You must have been a person who has bought the bow and is trying to defend it now!" --
1. Red Herring Fallacy (Irrelevant/Diversion)
2. Ad Hom Fallacy - attacking the man in lieu of an Argument.
Then top it off by displaying those 'DIVINING' Powers, eh? Of course, you're WRONG !!! (Shocking)
I did not purchase the Bow.
"I’ve shot the bow at 2 different shops"--
I've shot it also. AND ...??
"....16-20 FPS slow in performance. EVERYTIME!"
You're Delusional son, EMPIRICALLY DEMONSTRATED...

@@quantumeraser4833 I feel bad for you! It’s a peace of crap bow! Lol. Slow, lots of vibe, not quiet. Rollerguard tears up strings. Look at all the bow brands release videos. Mathews and Hoyt have like 35-40 000 views have 12-16 weeks to get a bow because they are so good and so much of a wait list. Bowtech has 3-5000 views and a 3-4 week wait time.
That imo isn't very practical, bows ought to be tested in the same way they are intended for use.
APA is the only bow I’ve ever seen that hits the speed rating it says it will
I appreciate Him saying “ I’m not choosing one brand over any other…They all lie about the speed ..All Of Them Lie.” I think this is the only Bow he tested that was sent “just for him to test…. “ He picks a random bow out of the lot he is sent to keep it as fair as possible.
Just for fun what about comparing a sanlida dragon x8 I know it’s from overseas but if it comes in as advertised that might get the point across
Thanks for your help and hard work
Great video! Keep holding them accountable!!! I need to get my bow out to you for some strings
Great honest review ! I appreciate that a lot. It’s about time they get called out on these ridiculous speeds that they’re false advertising.
Will you do a Bowtech clutch grip review on the available options and specs? Haven’t come across any specs or much info on what’s available.
i just bought a brand new bowtech specialist 2 .im getting ready to blast some competition !!! i need to get a good target sight and rest ,any suggestions are greatly appreciated especially from you archery god sir ! lol
Great video appreciate your honesty. Air temperature, humidity and the height above sea level, could change the performance of the bow. Might be worth testing as an additional test, to the standard your doing now. Keep up the good work.
Honesty... Facts... Can’t thank you enough..
Keep up the great work man.
Keep doing you..i appreciate the unbiased opinions you have
That bow is awesome smooth as butter on comfort and more speed on performance one of the top bows of 2022. Plus it has Deadlock best cam on the market!
Yep expect it's slow when they clearly said it was 350 bow
@@dieselpusher2548
They were off IBO by 6fps...

Great review like always. I’d love to see some reviews on APA bows if you could get your hands on some
Good job Josh, keep up the great work 👍
Great video! Good on Bowtech putting effort to make it right.
You can't make everyone happy brother just keep doing what your doing 💯
Always fair I like it. Thanks.
Great video, I like your fair testing of every brand
Love your work mate cheers for your opinion
I wonder what arrow weight they test with vs what you test with? There should be an industry standard for arrow weight for the speed test.
I would love to see a video demonstrating the different in speed due to a light, medium, and heavy arrow weight. To see if that makes much of a difference.
You most definitely know what your doing buddy and I appreciate the work.
Great video, what was the weight of the arrow?
Do you think they are shooting bareshaft arrows? Like without fletch? The fletching does create drag on the arrow at launch. I don't chase speed, but just an idea I had.
Doin damn good job! I enjoy these even tho i already have my V3X i still enjoy seeing everything else out there. Keep doin watcha doin man
Nice work as always. Thanks for the great content.
MFJJ thank you for the reviews you do they are greatly appreciated! Don't justify your tests....anyone that has a clue gets it.
Have you done a review of the Hoyt torex xt? Just wondering what your thoughts on that model Hoyt are
I’m glad that bow manufacturers are calling you up, and you’re keeping them accountable. I’m with you on the fact that everyone is way out of line when it comes to IBO speed. I like your idea of 3rd party testing so we can get a better average on actual speeds.
Stay on them brother, don't cut them any slack!
