    There are #21bridges into Manhattan, 19 of which can be walked. I've walked 17 of them since 2016 with my wife and we hope to complete the last two this month. Seeing the bridge infrastructure in person has been an adventure unto itself.

    The city could rename the 59th street bridge all they want, but it'll always be the Queensboro Bridge!

      I called it "Queensboro/59th Street/Ed Koch Bridge. If that's too long, then Queensboro it is.

      It’s the 59th Street Bridge.. just like the Jackie Robinson will be the Interboro (although I will use the terms interchangeably) and you can forget about the RFK bridge... it is and will always be the Triboro.

      I always just said Queenbridge since it's near the neighborhood Queensbridge and I grew up in the projects a few blocks east of it.

    The Verrazano's Narrows Bridge was built with the curvature of the Earth in mind. The tops on each side are slightly farther apart than the bottoms of each side. Presumably, if you were to follow them vertically, they wouldn't be parallel. Instead, they would meet in the center of the Planet.

    I absolutely LOVE New York City's river crossings. I live in New Jersey and love driving to NYC. My favorite bridge by far is the Verrazano--Narrows. Such an impressive structure.

    My folks just got back from yet another trip the the Big Apple (from way up here in western Canada) and will continue going back as they love how iconic in so many ways the city - and its crossings - is / are. Thank you for your careful, thoughtful and poignant analysis, particularly of this classic behemoth among cities. As a photographer and lover of such spans, I'm in awe and await my turn at being among these ancient structures.

    The bridge that was never built was the Brooklyn/Battery Bridge. FDR wouldn't allow it. Instead the Brooklyn/Battery Tunnel was built. As Robert Moses said, "What's so great about a tunnel? You can't even see it!"

    You left out three other major bridges 1.(Triborugh Bridge) Robert F Kennedy which connects Manhattan, Queens, and The Bronx. Which this bridge next to the Hell Gate Bridge. 2. Whitestone 3. Throggs Neck,

    @3:12 The Verrazano- Narrows Bridge is NOT the longest bridge in the Americas. The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana is.

    Multiple years later, we've seen what the Verrazano looks like under heavy wind loads (the deck rising and lowering). It's amazing what engineers can do.

    There are a lot more bridges you didn't cover such as the Gothles Bridge linking Staten Island to New Jersey, the Triborough which was the first of many bridges being built during Robert Moses's era, the white stone bridge or the 138 St bridge linking Manhattan to the South Bronx.

    but you missed some NYC bridges.
    1. The bridges connecting Staten island and new jersey, the Goethals Bridge and the Bayonne Bridge.
    2. And the many Bronx - Manhattan bridges
    3. You, in general, should have spoken more on the Williamsburg and Manhattan bridges

    I’d really like to see an episode on the NYC road tunnels - which are cut and cover, which are buried in bedrock, which are just sitting on the riverbed... and how the ventilation towers work.

    I know I may be asking too much but it would be interesting to make a video on New York's iconic buildings, which were demolished on purpose such as the Singer Building, Penn Station etc.

    1.coney island globe tower , 700 ft
    2.battery bridge , next to cary l hugh tunnel
    3.staten island tunnel a tunnel between brooklyn and staten island
    4.A 1000 ft modern building in dumbo brooklyn
    5.atlantic ave expessway
    Keep in mind that these were never built but were planned

    I drove over the Kosciuszko Bridge just the other night. I didn't realise it was as new as it is, nor that it had the same name as Australia's highest mountain. I remember being stuck on its predecessor a few years ago.

    I recommend, that you check out, or make a video about ongoing megaproject in the Baltic states - "Rail Baltica". There is an impressive station design in tallinn, as well as in Riga. That would be a great video!

      @@andrewmurphy5310 Yes they are building European sized high speed rail network from Tallinn, though Riga (also airport) and kaunas, with a extra way to vilnius. And they will connect to warsaw, and to further Europe.
