Around 1:10-1:12 in this video is that the Frankfort junction curve near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? I'm asking because an AMTRAK Train for real derailed on that curve on May 12, 2015, although it wasn't an Acela Express Train. "It was a 7-car Northeast Regional pulled by a year-old AMTRAK Cities Sprinter (ACS)-64 Electric Locomotive, No. 601," that derailed on the curve at 102MPH (164k/mh). Sadly it killed 8 and, injuring 200, 11 very badly, out of 238 passengers and 5 crew members. Also a 16-car Pennsylvania Railroad Train The Congressional Limited pulled by a GG1 Electric Locomotive, No. 4930 derailed on that same curve, killing 79 and injuring 117 out of the 541 passengers on board. The cause of that derailment was an overheated (on fire) journal box (hot box) not overspeeding on a curve. The journal box on thr 7th car seized and an axle snapped catching the truck's underbelly catapulting it into a signal gantry which tore the car's roof clean off, the 8th car wrapped itself around the gantry in a figure U. Six cars behind were scattered along the tracks at odd angles, and the remaining two were left undamaged.
1:03 (insert austrailian tour guide voice) "Here we see the rare high speed train coming off the tracks to slide downto the river to get a soothing drink of fresh water after a long time of going full speed.
It actually makes sense why the Union Pacific freight train flung up in the air like that. If you look in the background at 4:57 you can clearly see one of the container stack cars leaning dangerously to the side, which would cause a chain reaction to derail the whole train. As for it flying into the stratosphere, I personally believe that the car mentioned above clipped into the rails when it derailed, and physics kick in and send it into the air to get it out of the rails. And once again, a chain reaction sends the entire train with that one car. This can also explain why the back of the train is significantly lower than the front of the train, because the car that derailed was behind the locos, which means it would take longer to pull up the back, similar to making a wave in a piece of rope.
stevenRBLX, that crash was called the 2015 Philadelphia Train Derailment. It was a Northeast Regional train that derailed in real life not an Acela Express train
Cool simulation but music sucks. I’m actually looking for a simulator that shows how trains derail under different speeds and weights, for disaster management sake.
@@BamTechVids oh great... This kid is everywhere, I see him posting multiple dumb questions on Steam forums... Now here.. wow By the way, any plans on creating derailment videos anytime soon? Would really love to.
You do realise dont you that Vids like this make it almost imposible for game developers to make some routes or use trademarked Train livery ?. No company is going to willingly grant a license to allow their trains or their routes to be modelled if all you have to do is go on youtube and watch their product crash again and again. Its a free world and no one can stop you making these videos but just think next time that its spoiling the chances of better routes and a more diverse range of locos being released
earthworm2001 with all due respect DTG has done just fine making money from DLC (routes and trains) for the past 5-6 years.. there have been hundreds of TS crash vids on TH-cam. It's a game. Obviously no one would wish crashes to happen IRL.
