When u get these QBs(like Mahomes)faking going out of bounds or faking slides...the only thing to do is...if a QB exits the pocket and crosses the line as a runner, he is a RB. Dont like it...then just go down and take the loss and be protected. Period
He aim for his chest shoulder area but as he falls back the face is exposed trevor needs to protect himself at all times if your going to push the envelope to get first down he sees azeez barreling down on him with plenty of time to slide and prevent this hit
He attacked the area a foot and a half above the ground, which could’ve only been useful if he was predicting a slide and trying to hit him in the middle of it like the discourse around this is so strange the only possible intention of targeting your hit at that height would be to hit him during a slideor you’re trying to get hurdled. ‘ cause you’re only a foot off the ground.
To me, this is like a boxing match. Scenario 1. Guy starts throwing a punch. The other guy ducks and the punch goes harmlessly over his head with no contact. Scenario 2. Guy starts throwing a punch. Other guy ducks, but this time the punching guy sees the duck and changes the trajectory of his punch hitting the guy in the head and knocking him out. What happened with Al-Shaair and Lawrence is the Scenario 2.
Except if the opponent ducks, they’re considered defenseless. So once they’re ducking, the puncher has to recognize it immediately and pull back in a split second.
What I find remarkable is that none of these talking heads have even mentioned the bungling of the Texans organization from a PR standpoint. Everything from the apology posted on X, to Ryans saying in public to the media that this sort of conduct isn't taught within the organization to the very next day changing his tune on how he supports Azeez and his playing style and instead points the finger at the Jags organization and its players again in public and in front of the media only to be surpassed the next day by the GM Nick Caserio doubling down on the support of Azeez and his playing style and how it embodies the organization while ripping the NFL league front office in public and in front of the media. All of this self mockery creates a negative atmosphere around the Texans organization and gives even more ammunition to its detractors and critics to throw at it and now has even given the Jags a chance to pull a PR stunt of their own, putting Trevor on IR which now sends the message to the Texans saying, "look what you did to our QB!? And not only do you (Texans organization) embrace this style of play but you endorse it". And to think, all the Texans organization had to do was keep all of this behind closed doors and in private while saving face in public. Truly unbelievable stuff but hey, give the Jags credit, their football operations are abysmal but their PR department is top notch 😂
I like that Colin is high on the Broncos, don't get me wrong, but he's definitely a little too high lol. Like saying the Broncos use lots of motion. Lots of motion??? The Broncos are dead last in the league pre snap motion lol what are you talking about Colin??
They are destroying the fabric of the game in the name of safety and it’s wrong. They either need to pay them less or add IR salary loopholes like the NHL. So these owners can GFTS!
The thing with this that the media is js missing is that they are only really asking ex players, and none of them are going to say "lets make this softer". But if you ask the casual fan, no one wants to see this. Like the dude legitimately took a year or two off trevors life. I like the idea of banning the slide and make them dive forward instead. They can then brace themselves more if someone is going to hit then late. And call dead any of those tip toeing by the sideline if its outside the 20
Idk what casual fan you’re taking about. Most fans I see want violence and big hits in the game, nobody wants dirty hits but physicality is why 99% of ppl fell in love w the game. And of course he’s asking former players they were in those live situations, what could a mike florio or someone who’s never worn shoulder pads possibly offer when it comes to breaking down tackling?
Yep, be great if they just treated all runners the same regardless of the position they started the play at… sliding is weak and protects nothing… just ask Justin fields
@tjayd1225 I get for TV you gotta interview the former players, but I guess my point is that all these shows are setting the narrative that it's QBs faults for hits like this when it's clearly not. It was straight dirty and everyone is saying, well the QB shouldn't run it then. I don't think that is really the problem. There haven't been any other hits like this this year. It's just this dude has been a dirty player and had a dirty hit and it's not being talked about enough And I agree most people want to see big hits, but not ones like this. Dudes who played in the NFL don't mind watching hits like this but I would say a majority of fans don't. Crush him while he is in the pocket, sure, but not when he's given up and has no defense.

God, I miss watching those good Saints teams with Drew and Payton. Miss ya, Drew.
Totally. Super cool guy too...✌️
I miss those 9-7 seasons too!
Weekly Herd sessions with Brady Tuesday & Brees Wednesday… Colin in his bag this year
Don't forget Klatt! I agree, this, I think, has been Colin's best year...ever.

💯
Exactly!
Faking? Faking is part of the game. WR & RBs fake going out of bounds as well🤷♂️
@@sandman9390 completely different roles….
I’ve been saying this
I was high on Bo before the draft. He's still not running thr full sean payton system yet. He's doing good with the simplified version tho
Drew is 100% on the money, bears really dropped the ball by not having a veteran QB on the roster this year like a Dalton or even Tannehill
Love Brees on w Colin
Brees gives great perspective.
his answers suck lol. its the most PR middle of the road don't actually say anything answers you can possibly get
He can’t help that they both slid and tackled at the same time, but the forearm wasn’t necessary
That's what it is.. it's the way he drove his forearm with a metal brace to his face
@@jonsnipe5484 and the way he acted for the next 10 min on the field.
Brees is awesome ,
He didn’t slide late! Why are they trying to use this as an example
He aim for his chest shoulder area but as he falls back the face is exposed trevor needs to protect himself at all times if your going to push the envelope to get first down he sees azeez barreling down on him with plenty of time to slide and prevent this hit
Yikes! Drew is so intelligent and articulate. No wonder he is one of the best to ever do it. Very impressive.
Colin asking loaded questions that prove his point. He'd be a great lawyer.
I had no idea his face is located on the shoulder. Because that is where Azeez's forearm went.
Drew seems pretty laid back.😎😎😎

Who would Colin rather have dinner with?
Drew Brees or Tom Brady.
Colin look like the type to have dinner with both and say to each one your the person I had dinner with 😂😂😂
It's simple either it's illegal for a QB to run or he can't slide

Denver is last in the league on motions before the snap lol.
What a useless stat😊
Time to stop letting the QBs run. If we are really gonna protect them.
Sd gave him the boot Payton said hes my qb
QBs need flags so they can play flag football after the line of scrimmage.🙌😅

The hit was intended clean, he ducked.

Josh Allen did a fake and scored a touchdown. Watching in real time from the front , Lawrence went down very late , and almost looked like a fake
