Thank you for your help and time. Only have discovered Vero two weeks ago from Peter McKinnon and I watched his video also. Both of you have the same thing to say about Instagram…. As a photographer that took “ a break” that lasted a big longer that I thought it would.. the need to create/publish my work has been in the back of my mind for a few months.. recently installed Adobe Lightroom version 5.5 and discovered that I have more 17,000 plus photos. And I have done a bunch of edits using Lightroom already. And I liked the editing that I have done so far. Vero sounds like the way to go for me.

Awesome job man, liked and subbed. I'm just setting up my profile before posting and was a little confused by the UI with all the non photo related tabs so this helped. I hope this can provide some of that old school Flickr and early days of 500px community feel that I honestly never really felt on IG. I'm lucky to get 10% of the likes I use to get, and the hashtags only bring on the bot comments instead of like minded people like they are meant for. I´d rather have 10 genuine unique comments from other photographers than 10,000 likes from complete strangers, not knowing why they hit like or if they are a real person. I do wish it was a photo only app, but I understand its all about user numbers for these things so that would probably be too niche in terms of future ad revenue.

I'm hoping it's like Flickr and old IG combined. I think we'll see a lot more updates in the future that make it more photo orientated. especially as more and more photographers gravitate towards using the app.
I see VERO as a great app for connecting with other photographers and creators to build a community, however it doesn’t seem like it would be useful for connecting with potential clients etc. since they aren’t on there(this is where Instagram still wins)… I don’t see how this will work well for creators trying to build their brand etc… like the community but other than that seems limited

But as a platform gains traction and they start pushing ads more and more companies will be looking for photographers on the app. And a lot of the people on VERO already have more followers than on IG. BUT VERO is more of a community hub for photographers. I personally still use IG to build a community and brand outside of the photography community.
It doesn't change the reality that Instagram/Meta manipulates who sees what. They are entirely revenue driven, which means user count and post views must be maximized. Meta has therefore decided young girls cross-posting TikTok dances are their preferred class. Also, the number of fake accounts is just insane, follower numbers are mostly a mirage.
How to change with whom to share preferences? There is an edit option, but you cannot edit anything but the hashtags. Also, the location does not function. There are only some options available and you cannot enter anything else. There are many bugs and issues or things that are not very intuitive...
I know they’re currently working on a lot of that. You can reach out to them with your concerns. But as far as editing goes you can change description and hashtags. You can’t change who sees it. That’s something you just have to pay attention to prior to posting until they add an option.
The question I have how do you edit a post of Vero I have accidentally posted the image I want BUT I have accidentally posted it so I can see it I want everyone to see it but there appears to be no way to edit it.

I'm no expert by any means. Now with that said, I find the hashtags way more useful on Vero than IG or I just don't know how to use them on IG after 8+ years.

Question: Does Vero allow you to view images one after another on your home page? Or do you have to close each image to be able to view the next image? In other words, when I click on an image to view it more closely or to zoom in on it. In order to go to the next one, do I always have to close the one I'm viewing first. I have no idea how that is possible lol. If you followed all the steps I showed here then you shouldn't have issues. VERO tech support is really good though I've heard so feel free to reach out to them!
Nick - great video - thanks. When I first started Vero (recently) and posted a photo, I would select all 4 options and it seemed to go to anyone (which I wanted). Now, if I select all 4 options it says it's only going to "followers". Does this mean that someone who doesn't follow me won't see my work? I thought (could be wrong) that there's a way to post so that more people in the community (not just followers) would be able to see my work, as I see the work of people I don't follow. Am I off -- or, if I select all 4 options and it still says "followers" others will still be able to see my posts? Please advise. Thanks!
Thanks Rusty. The number your seeing is the people who follow you and have connections with. Others can still see you work. I posted twice today and have had many people still find my work. Make sure you are using hashtags associated with your photos and if you need examples feel free to see how I hashtag my work! Hope this helps Rusty!
The thing I find kind of confusing is how to find new people to follow on the app. That’s easier with the algorithm since you always have a feed to scroll through.
I get that. With VERO though the best way to find new artists is using the home pages featured artists and upcoming suggestions as well as searching hashtags. Or if there's someone you follow and people are commenting on their work then check out the pages of those commenting. Is it marginally more work, yes. But it does provide a more curated community for you and those like you. Feel free to use my page as an example if it helps!

On the desktop app, there is something called 'intros' and it shows I have none. What the hell is an intro? How do you post one? what can you do with it?

@Julee Jensen Yes, After seeing what Vero has to offer, I’ve decided to go back to Flickr. Just have to pay the yearly fee as I can’t upload any more photos until I pay the fee.
You have to request to “connect” with them first. I suggest if you wish to work with a photographer or ask questions, first build rapport in the comments
Photographers are not the audience for my photos, the subjects in my photos and their friends are my audience. They are not on VERO and I doubt they will be in the future.
Thant's fine. I don't think VERO is going to replace instagram in that regards. It's meant for other photographers to connect, collaborate, communicate, talk shop and so on. I still use instagram to reach people outside the community and inspire those who like photography, nature and wildlife.

So is it basically like two-step verification to DM people? I see why it’s annoying to have the extra click but I also see why that’s beneficial. Because I get so many spam and hacking DM’s on instagram. My account was hacked from a DM Bot a year ago.

Hey Frank, I absolutely get what you're saying. If you click on an image to zoom in then you have to close out to continue scrolling.

What’s the business model of Vero? No ads? No fees? No data selling? How does it work then?
Right now it is free and in the future they have mentioned a one dollar a month subscription to have no ads.

Posts you make visible to followers can be seen by everyone. The information that Vero provides here is rubbish.
Anyone who searches you can see your posts and any hashtag you use or keywords in your description will allow your posts to be seen by anybody.
Il pay the subscription if it follows the true value they stand for Now Instagram,Facebook and TH-cam have adpocakypse witch is stressful

IG is for business, VERO is for community. Until VERO starts pushing ads it'll be awhile until businesses are on the app.
