I've seen a lot of comments today of people asking if this was a Pog's full attack or not. But you know what I saw? I truly didn't notice Jonas was going 100%, wasn't out of air or struggling in any way following him and he even went ahead of Pog and worked with him. Jonas actually looked very relaxed. So, take into consideration that Jonas certainly wasn't going full gas.
my feeling aswell, if pogi attacked early on the climb i think jonas maybe could have tried after the steep part, but i do think that pogi has lost like a few % in explosiveness, to be a few kg lighter, i feel like we saw that on the last stage of catalunya aswell, that his punch this year is a little less strong.
I was in ICU for 22 days last year... my legs STILL hurt today from the muscle loss in those 22 days. Sure, i am no sporting legend but what Vingegard is showing is pure magic to me.
Dude, you obviously didn't get the right doctor. Maybe you should try Jonas doctors. I partly blame visma and Jonas for not sharing these doctors for everybody who face same kind of injuries.
Based on Strava, both Pogi and Remco beat Woods’ previous KOM on San Luca. Woods did 5:24 in 2023, Remco did 5:17 today, Pogi 5:06 @ 21.7km/h. Greetings from Slovakia :)

Great podcast! Switched to LMNT because of you guys. Love it, still riding hard at 69. Thankful for every ride. Keep up the good work. Very informative!
@18:50 - Carapaz jumped immediately after Pogi/Jonas - but didn't have the snap to get to them.. but it took him clear of the group. This is clearly visible - you see the EF jersey somewhere in between at one point... Remco must have joined him by the top of the climb. Actually, Rogla was already dropped (at least 4-5 bike lengths) off the back of the Yates pulled peloton just prior to Pogacar attack.
Normally Jonas Vinggaard prefers longer climbs than Tadej Pogacar, but after that crash the question is to know how Jonas will perform on those longer climbs! On stage 4 even if doesn't finishes at the top, the col du Galibier will show how everyone is!!!
This is very true. Very big question mark for later on. He might be as good on the explosions, but he might not recover as well as before the crash. And on another note: Pogacar absolutely tested Jonas on the downhill to see if Jonas might hesitate a little, and he absolutely didn't. Jonas didn't seem scared at all and he even looked to cut some corners faster than Pogacar. But I agree: The fact that Jonas looked his old self on this small climb was not an indicator that he is also as strong on the long climbs. AND even more important: Will he be as strong on MANY long climbs in several days in a row, which is where he is usually the best in the world? Plenty of questions still unanswered.
The race had started only 2 days ago, let's see how it will be in the 15 ,17 km climbs and then around the 14th stage that will be the first finish in the top of the mountain and also after the ITT on 7th stage we will see how it goes for all of the 4 horsemen!!!
It is just Pogi waiting for Vingo to attack then he will counter it. Surely Pogi will have an advantage over it. Pogi must tranquil himself. But Vingo must stay on Pogi in the near distance before ITT in the end in Nice.
Let's not forget that the last stage of the tour will be a ITT with 34 km which includes a category 2 climb ,and that after more than 3500 km on their legs!!!

Vino rode with Poggi because they were putting time into Roglic and Ayuso and Almeda. I think the riders on UAE are super strong but it's the wrong team for this race. UAE should have brought Micha and Grobschartner, proven domestiques, who aren't thinking "I could make the podium."
UAE are very dissapointing to be honest.... Ayuso did already have a very hard time yesterday and was almost dropped when Tratnik of all people was pacing the peloton... Pollit and Wellens dropped early today while they did no work... And Yates could not pull longer than half a km... Yesterday UAE stopped pacing because they where blowing up their own riders.... Before the Tour started I was convinced that UAE could get Ayuso, Yates, Pogacar and maybe Almeida in the top ten of the final GC... After two stages I do only see Pogacar and maybe Yates do this... But it is hard to say at this stage... It has been very hot the last two days, and these were hills and no real mountains.... A five minute uphill effort is completely different than a 45 minute uphill effort of course.... We'll see what will happen, so far I am super happy that Jonas is back and that we will have battle this Tour. Problem for Pogacar is that Jonas can even keep up in these hilly stages which should be Pogacar his speciality... Thus if he can't drop Jonas in these kind of stages, I do not see where he is gonna win any time.. 19 more stages full of fun and excitement to go ❣💯
@@swissbiggy36-37c is a real problem though. Some guys can’t deal with that heat. Everyone is different. Dunno. Let’s see. Jonas doesn’t have the same team so he’s not gonna have as easy a ride this year. UAE needs like one more rollieur

Regarding Lance's comments concerning the banning of iv rehydration during the TDF there is another very effective option: PROCTOLYSIS - the administration of fluids rectally. The Macy Catheter is one of several devices that has been designed for this purpose. Perhaps some teams are already administering fluids this way.
Let's not forget that Pogi went in stage 1 of the Giro on a sort of similar climb (short, steep) and Narvaez was able to follow him. And even O'Connor, who later dropped, but this time Pogi went a bit later than in the Giro, only 300 meters before the top. Then in Oropa we already saw that nobody was able to follow Pogacar and later in the Giro he started putting minutes into all the others. So I would suggest that this little climb means little to nothing. All I would say is that it is impressive that Jonas was able to follow Tadej on a climb that suits Tadej more, and it is worrying that Roglic wasn't able to follow them or Remco, BUT this means little to nothing when they are gonna go up the Galibier on Tuesday.
I really expected pogi and roglic to dual it out again on the circuit but i certainly did not think jonas would stick with pogi. i figured jonas would be the one losing 20 second. but after today i call into question whether or not pogi can beat Jonas. jonas's lack of training means either he cracks or rides himself intto shape. . . not that there are any other choices to choose from. But after today i think that its the latter. pogi has more racing in his legs so maybe that will dog him later in the tour the way they say doing the double will. idk but after today jonas is a boss
I don't think one should read too much into Pog not being able to distance Jonas on this stage, other than showing that Jonas is not completely uncompetitive as many were speculating he could have been.
Tadej went into the tour last year fresh out of surgery the way Jonas is this year. Maybe Tadej today was willing to work with Jonas remembering how he felt last year. If that’s the case it will be interesting to see how he rides against Jonas moving forward.

It was 100% short attack from Pogačar, Jonas preparation is excellent, Remco is great to, Roglič still sleeping but is close too (I believe he doesn't wonder how good he is but thinking about how to race on 110%), the rest of the riders are willing to race like on one day classics at full gas, so we can prepare to enjoy TDF now. Several days before the race started, Eurosport showed footage of stages of TDF 2023, where it is clearly shown that Jonas won not because he dominated but because Pogačar collapsed, which is the opposite of the general belief that Jonas dominated TDF 2023. Jonas will be a rider just like last year, unlike Pogačar, who is perfectly prepared, but he will have to be careful not to repeat old mistakes, such as attacking and pulling Jonas behind him. The tactic will be crucial, and Visma is in advantage over all teams in this art, even more with the new technological advancement of analyzing the course of the race from TV broadcasts. I don't know how many of you understand what this means for the future of cycling races, artificial intelligence is already so strong in predicting and adapting optimal tactics every second with the quality input data, that it can completely automate the race, and the data that Visma acquires with this "broadcasting data scraping" make this possible! I wrote about this technology on this channel exactly one year ago during the TDF, but for the needs of the fans behind TV screens, not for the needs of the sports directors. The problem is that you can't prevent the usage of this technology for private use, so I can already predict that at the next TDF edition the riders will race completely without radio communication, it will be a nice welcome back to the origin of racing! More on the dimensions of this Visma AI-dope technology later during the race, if there will be a talk of this topic.
Wout is absolutely fine, don't worry.... He did already tell the Belgian press before the start that he would let himself drop on the second time of the San Luca climb.... That's not his terrain and has never been his terrain... That's why you will never see him compete in the Fleche Wallone for example where they finish on the Mur of Huy... And the San Luca climb is almost twice as long as the Mur of Huy.... After the stage the Belgian press asked him how he was doing, and he has no injuries, he didn't lose any skinn and everything is okay. During the stage he did already give the thumb up, in sign that everything is okay...
Jonas has acknowledged that Pogi is a more explosive rider. What stood out to me today is how Jonas responded to Pogi’s attack. Not every time, but many times Jonas responds to accelerations by staying in the saddle and pulling them back with a heavy, but gradual effort. Today he was immediately out of the saddle and answered with explosiveness of his own. Very surprising. Pogi and UAE may have downplayed it in their comments after the stage, but I’m guessing that they expected to have put some measurable time into Jonas after two stages.
@@pablozee6359agreed but each only had about 10 seconds of acceleration before climb ended. Typical Pog moves last longer and often times twice. Impressive Jonas kept the wheel tho I guess.
@@TheMikkster Honestly I have never seen Pog really dropping Jonas, I mean REALLY dropping him. Can you mention any instances where he has completely leave Jonas out of sight and Jonas couldn't reach him again?
@@archdukeMTB This was indeed no mountain but just a 300 meter high hill.... The difficulty of this hill is not the length (1.9km) but the double gradients...
Lance forgetting everything about stage 1 of the Giro in relation to the rather similar Olympics RR route for the sake of his outrage is lowkey hilarious... shouldn't AG help with memory? :p
Totally agree! Remco made a tactical error today by being too far back in the group to be able to respond quick enough to the Tadej attack. But his chase was really impressive without any pull from Carapaz, at least not on TV footage.
Your podcast WEDO is for me the best in terms of objective reporting within professional cycling... I follow you because of your experience, an experience that makes your statements convincing and above all more objective... nevertheless, I am struck by your speechlessness, that is to say, speakless... Do you really believe that Jonas would have taken part in the Tour if he had not believed in his own optimal preparation? Do you really believe Jonas' injuries were really as bad as reported from the Visma team? Do you really believe the rider from the Visma team who said he would never bet on Jonas winning? We live in a time and place that is dominated, that is, manipulated by the media, whose trust is broken.... which is why ordinary people increasingly trust podcasts more than the corporate-controlled media... Jonas killed his first domestics today... Jorg and Art how many have been slaughtered by Tadej, Remko, Primus????? It's a long road to Nice.....keep on going...we do move
Jonas was a slacker he owed Tadej hard pulls!! This is Preposterous!! I think we're in for a great race! I wonder what the deal with Primos was... 👍🏻🚵♀️🇨🇵💯
Tadej should have sat up after the attack failed to work. I feel like he burns matches when there is little to gain. It will eventually be a 2 man race again. Wait until Jonas has ridden multilple hard days and then go for it. Just my 2 cents
Jonas was 12 days in hospital 🏥…internal bleeding 🩸 collapsed lung, chest drain for 8 days and several broken bones (ribs & collarbone )…🤕 claims training since only been recuperating 🤷♂️
Two answers. 1. Those injuries matter much less to him than to any other human and thats new even to him 2. He "trained" hard and took lots of wonderful "ketones"
This was a full speed attack guys and girls. Jonas`numbers after the stage, told us that he climbed faster than Pogacar, from he´s attack and to the top. In fact, the fastest EVER, to climb those meteres that fast! So, the battle is on. Cheers from Denmark.
Its obvs Lance dont have much respect or love for Jonas, like so many other people into cycling, just because he is shy and modest in his personality, the fast they started accusing him of epo last year is appalling, its not in Jonas nature, he is from the rough west coast on Jutland fisherman area, where people express themselves through their actions, not their mouth like Lance loved to do. Anyway keep bashing him until he is in Paris with yellow jersey
Am I the only who thinks vingegaard looks like a dead man on a bike... If that man wasn't a professional cyclist.. he would probably be put in a clinic. I hope whatever he's doing won't harm his further life...

Wout did not look good after that crash. Aerial shot, never seen him look so bad on a climb rocking the bars back and forth.
@@eljeferaider 3 of their riders have gone down already. Might take a toll later in the tour
Pura Vida!
Pogi acceleration always immaculate but jonas looks more fast twitch this year already🤔. Can he sustain the high mountains tho without sepp? 😬
@@pablozee6359Jonas is very analytic and has worked on his weaknesses
Hold your horses, today was much too short to say Jonas can stay with Pogi all the time…but it was nevertheless very promising🇩🇰😁
@@TheMikkster Honestly I have never seen Pog really dropping Jonas, I mean REALLY dropping him. Can you mention any instances where he has completely leave Jonas out of sight and Jonas couldn't reach him again?
Jonas is a bike animal. Period.
The falls Visma keeps taking might start to add up. Curious who they will have left in the train on Galibier.
"I'm not......from Ecuador!" LOL
He attacked with 400m to the top with 7% incline :) dont make it like it was a mountain attack
I don’t understand why he went so late tbh.
Probably didn’t go earlier cause he couldn’t pull it off.
@@archdukeMTB This was indeed no mountain but just a 300 meter high hill.... The difficulty of this hill is not the length (1.9km) but the double gradients...
Remco mentioned he lost 1.5 kilograms or so before the tour
Why Lance in a heavy sweatshirt and George and JB in tshirts, for the second day...whassup with that??
The Sparkling LMNT is great after a ride. I use LMNT all the time.
2022 the tour started in Denmark
It gets going at around 6 mins if anyone's wondering 😂
Thats right the garmin tells you hpw steep is the turn

Thank god for the Fast Forward Button. On the other hand, building a studio in Aspen and stocking the wine cellar with George's wine ain't cheap!!!!
Lance forgetting everything about stage 1 of the Giro in relation to the rather similar Olympics RR route for the sake of his outrage is lowkey hilarious... shouldn't AG help with memory? :p
On Evenepoel: There are two time trials this year. And Tadej has the GIRO in his legs (plus COVID in his lungs). Don't write off Evenpoel just yet.
Totally agree! Remco made a tactical error today by being too far back in the group to be able to respond quick enough to the Tadej attack. But his chase was really impressive without any pull from Carapaz, at least not on TV footage.
Who is writing him off? And I"m sorry: COVID in the lungs (totally dumb one, dude).

Fun show
Your podcast WEDO is for me the best in terms of objective reporting within professional cycling...
Jorg and Art
how many have been slaughtered by Tadej, Remko, Primus?????
It's a long road to Nice.....keep on going...we do move
You are very ill informed
Lol informed by who? The lying media?
Do you know something or are you not another ill informed?
Ridiculous comment.
Omg…lucy - ricky reference…
the fact that Lance doesn't know Narvaez... I can't take him seriously
"But I'm NOT from Ecuador" -Lance Armstrong, June 30th 2024
On the San Luca climb is Michael Woods still owN the KOM on Strava? He did it in 5’25”
Lance…the “goat”!
There is more ads than actual podcast...
Jonas was a slacker he owed Tadej hard pulls!! This is Preposterous!! I think we're in for a great race! I wonder what the deal with Primos was... 👍🏻🚵♀️🇨🇵💯
He didn’t owe anything bro. This is a race! It takes fitness and smarts.
Ecuador is bigger than GREAT BRITAIN (but smaller than Texas)
hello, do you have any cheap robot vacuums?
Suomi mainittu! Finland was mentioned! Torille! To the market square!!
Does the pink Cadillac mean EF is sponsored by Mary Kay?
Jonas was 12 days at the hospital….
1. Those injuries matter much less to him than to any other human and thats new even to him
2. He "trained" hard and took lots of wonderful "ketones"
@@milhouse53 he doesn’t use ketones, much to his team’s dismay
@@milhouse53 He's human, not a cyborg; it still affects him....This narrative of being 'superhuman' is a nonsense.
I sure he has only been training a short while but remember its only Day 2 and he could hit the wall soon
As a Dane i am pleasantly surprised, but 19 stages to go….🤷♂️
This is not worth watching without Johan, and who wants to watch Johan talk only to this JB guy in the other one, makes no sense
Works for me. More detail.
Not having Lance talk to you for 3 months: Wonderful!!😂
You got that right. Love JB, love Johan, love George . . . Lance sucks.
And yet, here you are.
You’re both losers.
Yeah, ill informed, having weird rants... just embarrassing.
George wearing Richard Mille?
I was just Googling that!! LMAO! Richard Mille RM 65-01 Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph ???? JB let us know pls
This was a full speed attack guys and girls. Jonas`numbers after the stage, told us that he climbed faster than Pogacar, from he´s attack and to the top. In fact, the fastest EVER, to climb those meteres that fast! So, the battle is on. Cheers from Denmark.
Nice watch, anyone know the brand George is wearing? curious
Looks like a Richard Mille
😂
@@michaelnabielec6888 Thought as much, he's doing okay :-)
