If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make weekly "comedy" videos every Sunday evening. As an American living in London I love noticing the funny differences between the cultures and one of my most popular video series is my British VS American one. I'm also known for making terrible puns so sorry in advance. Hope to see you around, and I'll see you next Sunday! :)
If you want to know HOW I make my videos including gear, lighting, all the tiddly bits that connect it all together, (with cheaper alternatives and kit I used to use), I've listed each item, what it's great at, and why I use it on the gear section of my website here:

My university gives us free access to all of the materials we need. And yet, I still sometimes just pirate it, because sometimes they'll give you it on a website that will time you out and lose your page, or make you login every few hours. It's infuriating and not what you want when you're trying to study. Quick tip though. They don't usually send an entire book (unless it's open access), usually just the relevant chapter or article. Sometimes you have to go through a third-party website and log in via your university account, so they've obviously paid for a licence so the students don't have to buy it. Ahh, the convenience of another device to charge, with non-user-replace batteries, where you can't use the mic and listen to high quality audio at the same time, nor change the DAC, nor change the microphone, are not guaranteed to be able to use while charging (extra fun at the end of the day), not being able to quickly change what device you are listening to/from - yup, totally better than a simple TRRS.
Oh, and dongles are a horrible idea for mobile devices with a single usb-port, since that basically is "oh, that main data and charging port? Let's put a mechanical load on it in a situation where you move around so you make sure the mechanical stresses always are there in exaggerated forms" (and don't get me started on "oh, your phone battery is running low at the end of a day of music listening - too bad that charging port can't be connected to the power bank while listening to music").

Boycotting does NOT work. It has been proven to not work.
Even just in this video, several examples. You attend college, you need to pay pearson a subscription for no reason and use books from them that don't give you basic functionality. So what, do you just NOT go to college? But society has decided that you MUST go to college to get offered a job in many fields (which absolutely DO NOT need college, for example, IT. I learned FA about IT in college, yet for some reason I need a degree to work in the field?)
I should refuse to buy a phone without a headphone jack (which I have done). What companies do is that release software updates that are FORCED onto older models which break their basic functionality. My old phone drops calls and doesn't give me messages because it is old. The solution is to buy a new phone, but I won't buy a phone that doesn't have basic features. Oops, you can't buy a phone with basic features because they don't exist.
Don't buy a smart TV that advertises to you and sells your data. Well Smart TVs ranging from the lowest price to the highest price all do the same thing. They build ads in and sell your data. What do you do, not buy any digital displays?
Gas stations advertise you you when you pump gas. So what? Don't drive? No more driving? Sorry America has decided that you are not not allowed to drive because we design our cities in ways that are as unfriendly to other forms of transportation as possible so that they can sell more cars.

Flushable is a protected term in the UK. Unfortunately the UK government hasn’t gotten around to changing the definition from the EU one, and thus they aren’t flushable in British toilets

An option in Firefox and Safari. It was originally introduced to tinker with the light settings so that your eyes were tricked into reading what looked like the colours of a book or newspaper on your device screen.

It’s a safari feature! In the address bar. It removes all ads and unnecessary content from sites and just shows you the text nicely formatted

6:35 1000% this. I hate that they auto-play, and are finicky with like 4 steps. also it should be illegal for them to override my Fu**ing Spotify, EVER WHEN ITS MUTED!! like your generic happy music from the license free site isn't going to get me to get your game, Let my listen to my Dang songs. (or at least un pause my music when your done and not make me go out and manually do it)

I have no strong feelings about Other People using wireless headphones, but a single microsecond of sound delay on my audio turns me into some kind of beast

If the Natural sugar is a UK packaging, I think that IS illegal, as we have a list of words that have a specific legal meaning when it comes to products for sale, and I'd be amazed if "natural" isn't on that list. So selling an artificial product labled as natural would more than likely breach the trade descriptions act.

Pumping gas in freezing temperatures is bad enough, having it take longer due to ads is cruel and unusual punishment

When I was a lad back in the pre-internet days, our family had a game where we'd try to guess what the adverts were for before the name of the advertiser appeared. Those were simpler times... That Sony system would ruin that game... or make it way better, I'm not sure which.

7:25 My thoughts exactly (Oregon so the law is a bit complicated but TL;DR you still can't pump gas in any part that isn't trying to become part of Idaho anyways).

This semester we're using English books for some modules and all of them have a huge batch on them saying "international student version" and on the inside it says that you're forbidden to bring it out of the country it has been exported to. Reason: US version is a lot more expensive (I forgot how much exactly but a lot)
Also we get them for three in our uni's library, like isn't that what you pay fees for (not that you really pay any in Germany...)

The International Editions I've used simply say "not for sale in the US", not that you cannot ship it elsewhere. In any case, US students are really getting screwed over on that one. On the bright side, the ban on sale in the US isn't actually enforceable according to my research, so students in the US can (and should) use grey-market international copies where available.

@@justsomeguy5103 the book I'm referring to says on the back "this book cannot be re-exported from the country to which it is sold by McGraw-Hill" so maybe the exporting thing isn't true for everything but for this one it is :)
