I found that if I hit the clip on the end with a hammer to bend the clip back and up the next board slid in easier. Also I used the edge of the board as a guide and put the screws in straight up and down.

Seriously? If I wanted to use nails or screws I wouldn't have spent 30 bucks on the clip system.

Or I don't know, maybe buy a $30 spreader clamp. Seems like it totally defeats the purpose of buying composite at 2 or 3 times the price then put random holes in it.

      Hey man,
Thanks for the comment, hope your day is going well. The spreader would work, but in some spots it might not... It also takes waaay more time. The nails are invisible after shot and bury themselves in the decking. Heck, you could even shoot the nail in the groove to make any worries you have about the nail go away.
Just suggestions here man, again, have an awesome day.

Most people's main purpose for composite is no maintenance

We purchased the Menards Ultra Clip fastener system with the 6x1-1/2" screws. They also told us we needed the 8' Dekmount hidden fastener. We can't see how to use both the clip fasteners and the Dekmount hidden fastener. We also got starter clips

Buy a bo wrench… it saves ya a lot of time and strength to tighten the boards and keep em tight. The clips are a nightmare joke. And ya have to keep bending them up at times for next board. . It’s a horrible system and can take hours and extra helpers just go out on 4-5 boards if they’re 16 footers

You don't want to be piercing the top of these boards. You just cut the life of these boards in half as you now created a port for water to pool and decay these boards that have wood cores. Please don't show these as tips and tricks. Yes it will help to put the boards down quicker, but this will also cause the deck to need to be replaced or repaired much sooner.
