look at the end of the fight. At the time players didn't know whether he's down or not, they were still prepared for unknown from Illidan.. awesome.

hydraulixx I raided in TBC in a top Oceanic guild into Sunwell, Mythic raids are a lot better now and class mechanics are a lot better to, the game has improved a lot and if you actually raided now and in TBC you would see that.
hydraulixx The game was still fresh in TBC so the basic game mechanics were still fun.
"You had to watch threat and mana"
Threat and mana management weren't fun mechanics, it was stupid having to either auto attack or wand something because the boss has a threat wipe/drop or you chain some crits or because using spells back to back would make you oom.
"Not every class had 2 oh-shit-buttons, 2 self-heals and mobility CDs. The game just felt more immersive."
Most classes and specs had zero utility which made them really boring to play, planning CD use and movement is a lot more fun then standing in the one spot using one spell.
"Yes, it was a 'slower' game but faster is not always better."
WoD went back to the slower style of class mechanics and for most classes it made them a lot less fun.
+DriftNick anyone who pulls the "I did Sunwell" card didnt do Sunwell and TBC was way better I've played from vanilla up till now and still playing and the raids/dungeons/zones/quests were designed so much better then and way more fun to do.

They really weren't, everything was very basic and a long grind, raids now are considered to be the best they have ever been.
This game is a part of my life, will never forget it. Yes it is a virutal world but i have so many good (and bad) memories and some of my IG mates are now my IRL friends :)

ScopedPewPew If you would be a "Kungen" fan, you would know they didnt use any voice communication. He mentioned on hes stream tons of times
Randomfps well, they had lots of seperate ts servers e.g. kungen would be in with the other tanks, the casters would be all together etc... they did this because otherwise there would be too much talking and kungen hated talking to people

I love how they never used TS/mumble etc back then. kungen thought it was crap because then people would talk instead of focusing + people would rely on the raid leader to call out tactics during fight instead of having the players to play for themselves 100%

really amazing achievement for back then. Very few guides, characters not as powerful as currently. It is nuts, we can literally 2 shot illidan now.

Crazy they did this in Tier 4/5 and heroic blues. Granted he wasn't a gear check fight. Still such an impressive kill.
Illidan wasn't a gearcheck. Tanks and heals must have good gearing. Dpses can be all blue ilvl 115 and low t5 epics and do the job. Illidan is the pure definition of a mechanic-oriented fight. Understand, acknowledge and respect mechanics and phases and you're good to go

These guys were the best guild back when I started playing in BC
Shadow priest hanging out with the rogues and warriors at the top of the DPS chart. Shadow priest was the most fun character I ever played, and rather unique as well.

This was when WoW was at its best, to me. Illidan, along with Kael'thas, was just so cool and rewarding working together on with group of 25 people to overcome before the game got so blah. I liked doing Karazhan in a 10 too, but when they made 25 man raids doable in 10s, added Hard/Normal mode switches, and added casual raids it all started going wrong for me.
I don't actually believe you could raid 25-10 man in TBC, it was only 40 man. (i think anyways)
Wrong, Karazhan was 10 man, rest of the raids were 25. Zul'Aman was added in a later patch as another 10 man raid, making that two.
TBC was a great expansion but raids mechanic were boring. The only challenge in raiding back then was forming a raid team.
@@patrev It WAS unique and in fact NOT boring for it's time. Many of the mechanics hadn't happened before.
Karazhan was pretty unique. The horse and the way you fought it, Moroes with his changing band of guests plus his stealth, the opera event, Shade of Aran, chess (which wasn't usually much of a challenge, but definitely unique), Illhoof was interesting, but then Netherspite was pretty cool but rarely attempted. That's just from Kara. SSC and TK were even more diverse and unique, which Gruul and Magtheridon's lair were a nice quick fight if you were able to take them down, which still being a challenge for guilds that were new to them.
It's important to make the distinction that unchallenging is not the same thing as boring. Most things lose their challenge after you do them a few times.

They are trying to go back to that in a way in the warlords of draenor expansion. No idea if that works

Deathwing isnt here as u dont even fight him, u walk around on his back and then pick his fingers off the ledge so he falls ans Thrall can fight him. He's probably in the worst boss fights in history category.
Now, if he was like Onxyia, it wouldve been a different story.

A level 60 weapon still being used at one of the hardest encounters OF THE NEXT EXPANSION. Thunderfury was truly a *legendary* none of this bullshit legendaries in MOP/WOD/Legion
Tank damage wasn’t a factor then, just a fast sword to apply sunders and get rage.
@@dumaz12 it was for the proc and threat generation. As it out threat every other weapon. And if you ever tanked Illidan you would see it was a factor. 90% of the time you tank in T6 would be dropping half his hp or more every attack. And it's why a healer was dedicated to spamming them. Also, if it weren't a factor, other classes would be tanking him other than warrior (pre nerf).
@Dylan Russell you're talking about damage taken, dumaz12 was talking about damage dealt by the tank. They're talking about taking a lower damage vanilla main hand as an MT (Thunderfury) instead of taking a more modern Burning Crusade higher damage mh weapon for this fight.
The fact he is still using Thunderfury is cool :P such good wep.

if you do not know it is a 4 tank fight, warlock 2nd and then 2 fire tanks for the guards
Old Ragnaros and Illidan is the best voice acting a game ever has :) back in the day i sit on my pc open mouth with goose bums :P
This fight took like 15 minutes, wiping on it was depressing. I know Hyjal was hated more due to having to redo the trash, but since I was a prot pally Hyjal trash was my time to shine so I was cool with it lol.

I remember when this came out, and then a while later when I actually got there. Played on my shaman, then after everything was incredibly nerfed, I used my (once-main) warrior to tank a Flame of Azzinoth.
Black Temple as a raid was never nerfed, not even a bit. only 1 boss was "nerfed" in way of bug fixes.
@@fahadallhaib Hi, I'm back, and yes it was. They opened SSC, TK, and BT up to anybody and stopped the attunement. That's when I was able to get in. And then they did something else after some more time that at least decreased the HP of a lot of stuff, including BT. That's when my guild went into Sunwell and Killed at least the first boss and got to M'uru. I don't remember if we killed it or not, but we did at least do attempts on Kil'jaeden.
I know plenty like flashy mounts or weapons to show off @ capital city but imagine being the first player to get both glaives and going through town.

Sadly ive lost all my archieve from Vanilla/TBC,which i feel really sad for,but yeah method were on my server back then (Sylvanas EU) and Raziel the rogue was my idol,so i was stalking this guy,gnome rogue with 2 glaives if i recon well :) !
I Remember when we first downed him, what an awesome time. One of the first 100 in the world, Rebels of Wildhammer! Fuck I miss these days and all of the people I shared it with.

This video and raid are ancient by todays standards. This happened so long ago. Everything about WoW is different now and this was when level 70 was the highest level and this was the top of the end game content for WoW.

I still think vanila was the best installment and golden age of WoW experience. But TBC had the best bosses hands down. Kael, Illidan, M'uru, Vashj. I also remember my Archimonde 1st kill. Only C'tun (after nerf) and Lich could be compared to TBC fights...))) Bye youth)) Thx for epic memories)))
+Vladimir V. Vanilla was good but it wasn't really a finished game tbh, TBC fixed a lot of problems and made a lot more specs viable for PvE and PvP
It was about impression and atmosphere and other little thing that are not present today. The game is quite finished now, and look what it had become.

This was a real accomplishment for them.. Just look at how unoptimized people were specced and playing back then compared to now. And these guys were world first!
Within two hours of release the entire BT/Hyjal was steamrolled in Classic. There's something real discouraging and depressing about that, lol.

How can one play a game when they have half of their screen covered with the interface
Karn Phutanate you get to a point where you know the fight so well, info and stats become more important to be aware than just the animations of the fight
+Karn Phutanate play the game a lot and by the time you hit 70 youll be use to it usually a lot earlier than 70 and you can also use addons to make it a lot less cluttered than it is on here

Nearly all specs legit. MM hunters and Sub rogues weren't really designed for raiding, but real good for pvp tho
It's somewhat sad that they nerfed the threat it generated. It was a good way to not have to worry about the Thunderclap debuff and just be able to HAVE it. I also understand why they felt they had to nerf it.

funny when legions warlocks complain that blizz stole everything and give it to their demon hunter but in fact it was this illidan that blizz already made a DH base.
I was 2nd tank in a top 10 world guild back in this day, I remember we were like 7th to down him, that fire elemental part looks easy here but is was a pain in the ass to do the first few times

Who else came here after watching the black temple scene in 2020 ? I miss that old days where we used to wipe so many times and tryhard to get some epic stuff in BT n MH ..last time played wow was in killing LK heroic using pvp gear .. Now im just a lvl 20 starter waiting to see if shadowlands is worth to play again .
