Daytona Sandown Park: DMAX SuperChamps S3 Round One 2023

Season 3 of Daytona Sandown Park's Superchamps debuted with our new successful Grand Prix format, after its inauguration at Milton Keynes. This new format showcases a qualifying round, a 15-minute shootout, and finally a 25-minute feature race, giving the drivers plenty of track time to show their true pace. Points are awarded in the heats, although the majority are given in the final, providing several opportunities to climb the leaderboards.
The grid order for the feature race is decided by the fastest laps in the heat. This makes our returning Daytona legend Bobby Trundley's front-row start even more impressive as he begins alongside Henry Lopes, while being classified as a heavyweight.
Tom Brown swiftly took the lead from fourth by the third lap. However, due to an advantage gained by contact on the first lap, he had to drop down to second place behind Marcus Allan after the chequered flag, as a grid penalty was applied. Ben Richardson climbed all the way from thirteenth on the grid to claim the last step of the lightweight podium.
Britcar driver and Superchamps Superstar Bobby Trundley held his own against the lightweights, finishing an impressive sixth overall and first in class. He was followed by a closely battling pack of heavyweights. Justin Hammond and Sage Don Dillon fought to the chequered flag for the last two podium positions.
