I’m Thai. I’ve been interviewing lots of Burmese students. They always change the m sounds to n sound when m is the final sound. Further, when the word has an alphabet r in it, they can’t pronounce it. For example, they said pat-tine instead of part-time. May know the reason? I need to understand them more. What phonetic alphabet sounds that have been changed while Burmeses speak English?
That's a great observation. I think it has to do with the way their tongues are conditioned in their mother language.
Similar instances go for Japanese and Korean people struggling to pronounce the 'R' and 'L' sounds.
We can pronounce every each of English alphabet well and it’s not difficult. Those interviewees didn’t practice well or something. That’s it.
In Myanmar, according to mostly accessible education system, we only got start to learn English vocabs by-heart ( which is repeating after the teachers and remembering, after 1960s, the education system had rurined by General Nay Win, up to now the quality education is still lacking in many parts of Myanmar), not by phonetic symbols. I got surprised when I got my first English-to-English dictionary by seeing the phonetic symbols. May be you can also notice, many Myanmar people are missing to pronounce connected sound. That could convince your point.
Wait till you hear
Saa...bar instead of saber from a myanmar.
And lee gent instead of legend.
(Based on my experience )
Eddwin or Eddie is not difficult for Thai s pronouciation. I guess when he was here in Thailand, his Thai friends would probably call him in short just " Ed "...Ed s also widely used for many Thai youngster....Your name " Bruce" s much more difficult for Thais. " -R-" sound hardly go along with Thai tounge.
Wow! That's an interesting one.

Both are eager to talk-good and bad. It would be better if there were more balance between talking and listening.
It’s so obvious that you haven’t met a lot of people who speak good English.
"hadn't" probably. haha. Yea, coming across someone at that time that speaks such a good English was a surprise for sure.
