I just bought an HXFX for $360 to go with my Tonex that I bought for $300. Pretty decent setup for $660. Also, HXFX handles spillover through snapshots.
12:30 This reminds me of Bryan Adams's 80’s albums and I love it. Also, I love how it sounds with nano cortex like you said it’s really clean and smooth. With an amp, it sounds just as smooth and clean. That could also just be your fantastic playing. Thanks for the demo, music, thoughts, opinions, and video

No one listning to you play live will notice a difference between VP4 and HX effects. With that said... line 6 is not Fractal. Interpret that however you want.
I’m not sure if these fx are Great yet. All the demos are kind of over the top. But the helix effects are just ok, having had a helix unit for years. Real pedals into the helix sound better. But yet obviously no one cares and just want you to play something coherent.
I owned both Fractal and Line 6, and Fractal is just on another level in everything really. And yeah, the people wont hear the difference, but u will... 😅
Nice review. I have a question. I have the older xvive. Does the distance work as it is rated at 100 ft. I can get about 30 ft from my old xvive. Have you tried that live or you using a shure with the tuner as in your stomp xl vid. Also how is that working on the 345? My 345 requires a stereo plug or all the pickups don’t work.
The effects sound amazing on this unit! Been on the fence lately about getting this or the HX Effects. Would be great if you could do a shootout/comparison video for them both. Good stuff as always!
If we're only considering the quality of the effects, which one would you choose, Eventide or VP4? On the other hand, I have the feeling that the effects of the H90 are more innovative, more unusual in a good way. Is that the case?
If the price is acceptable really depends on which effects you are going for, and admittedly, Fractal has a lot of them. For me, I have not heard anything in any demo yet, that a Helix/HX or Ampero could not do equally well, and I absolutely prefer the vintage/legacy modulation effects in the HX (and I do have an Axe-Fx III). Considering all the limitations, only 4 blocks, no way to split those before and after the amp at the same time (something even an Ampero Stomp can do), no dedicated foot switches for tap tempo and mode switching (and no, since I have to sing while playing, any fancy long-press or two-switches-at-once stuff is not cutting it for me). So IMHO, this is for people who are not bothered by any of these limitations and absolutely love some effect that competitors do not have, which do certainly exist.
Good Fractal Sounds. I hope to see some shootouts and blind tests against the HX Effects. Fractal tends to have less harsh highs, and more mids than Line 6 Units in my experience. I think Fractal spends more on getting their Presets, Effects, etc. dialed in than Line 6 does, and that can give the impression they sound significantly better. Professionally dialed in Presets can make a big difference in the results. I find rolling off the treble a bit on my guitar makes my HX Stomp Presets sound more similar to Fractal. I recently discovered that boosting the Output Node on HX Stomp Presets by a few dB can create a more convincing real Amp sound.
4 Effects is inadequate. Where do I put my compressor. Compressor-OD-Modulation-Delay-Reverb. Also going from left to right on the screen is weird. I'm a pedal guy..we go right to left and out.
Yeah the left to right thing is because its a screen. It takes a second to get used to but I totally get it. I wish it was like the HX FX and could have some "always on" pedals or have fx that dont need FS (controlled by scenes)
Not going to lie. I love my HX FX. Also not going to lie this has me intrigued. BUT. snapshots and more Fx blocks and command centre likely keep my in HX land.
This is the first Fractal unit I've seriously considered, and it's because of its simplified nature.

Put the Nano into HX effects loop. And the HX into your amps fx loop. Then place the nano wherever you want within HX chain

So is not a FM3 a better solution than the Nano Cortex and the VP4 and for less $?
