If Lucas had a conniption over Han shooting first, I imagine we will never see this cut of the film where Luke single handedly assaults the sand crawler and goes on a killing spree inside.
+omahamh hey they were greedy jawas, they were askin for it. also how else would a poor white teen be able to afford used droids, except for stealing them from jawas. not to mention the genocide of sand people, aka ::cough:: A-Rabs ::cough::
Hell yea man, youtube can be so great to be able to find the endings to certain games you were never able to defeat. And getting to watch people that are decent at the game run through the whole thing so you can see every aspect of it is really something cool. I love watching these videos and bringing back good childhood memories. -Cheers
I loved it for that exact reason, it was so fun yet so difficult. I've yet to get past the final Death Star assault though, granted I've not played it in a good 13 years, but still. My brother claims he completed it, I never believed him.
08:00 Obi Wan: "And these last points, too accurate for Sand People. Only Imperial Storm Troopers are so precise." Luke: "Uhhh... yeah... Storm Troopers did it.... we'll go with that."
In those days I had the Commodore Amiga 500+ and my friend had Super Nintendo and this game. Its great to see these games again because although there long gone its like turning back the pages to see my memories on the screen. It amazes me how my mind can remember all those sounds, as I hear them now I wonder why I need to have a memory of them, actually I am glad I do and I hope in 30 years time I can watch this video again. I use DVDVideosoft to download TH-cam Videos. I keep them 4eva.✰✰✰✰✰
A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away... The Super Star Wars Trilogy Begins With Super Star Wars for your Super NES from JVC and Nintendo! May The Force Be With You!
Lord Almighty this game use to piss me off SO MUCH. Such a difficult game and especially for a kid. I will never forget the late night i beat it. Stayed home from school the next day cause i was up until 4am trying to beat it. It was one of the greatest feelings i had as a child. This game is fucking relentless.
It burns to watch great games with great sound with everything dead quiet and I'm powerless to do anything about it, the only way for me to find out what the sound is like is to buy the game and play it, which would be good cause snes games are awesome :D
I played this when I was five years old and I could never get past that big stormtrooper vehicle thing. One time I got past it and managed to get up to the trench run on the Death Star, but before I could beat it, I had to turn off my SNES and go have dinner.
I played this at my mates (He had the snes) & One night I played it until dawn - I did the fall off to get loads of lives, but I never finished it. When I turned the Snes off I could still & hear the game!!! My hands were like 2 painful crab claws - Classic 8bit game though.
That is weird...I got a nostalgic feeling about this game this morning and decided to look it up on TH-cam, and you happen to have put it up on the same day...the Force is strong with you! :D
The levels outside and inside the Sandcrawler were frustrating as hell. Outside was the jumps and respawning, and inside was Lava boss and it's cheapness. Tough game.
I remember level 4 being a massive pain for me, or more specifically, that last jump before the camera starts to slowly pan towards the boss. If your left thumb is slightly off, and it registers as right+up, you do the spinny jump, bounce off the ceiling, then fall to your death. :( If only it worked like the later games which use a double jump.
This isn't the only video they're imposing the stupidest of stupid copyright claims. Mysteries of the Sith cutscenes got that stupid copyright disclaimer, and I'm sure other Star Wars game videos will get the same stupid treatment. (Sigh) Isn't there a way to relocate all the SNES longplays to someplace else other than You Tube, because a lot of good videos have been ruined here, thus ruining what was once a great library for nostalgia.
Rogue Squad 2 was pretty awesome esp Death S & Hoth (That game was why I had the GC over PS2 back then) Battlefront is another classic SW game - shame they didn't do one of those for this Gen.
I like the fact that in your quest to stop the "evil" empire, you managed to kill pretty much every single cognisant being that you encountered. What did the mutant womp rat ever do to you?
It's like 15 minutes after a tiny sarlacc rises out of its pit and attacks everything with its tentacles. You know, during the great Jawa invasion of Tatooine? *cough*
after all this time... this game still looks and sound amazing! For some reason, this is my personal favorite Star Wars game. The SSW: Empire Strikes Back didnt have the same feel to me. Like it was the same game w/ some tweaks but those tweaks didnt work for me.
This games the best! It's so hard though. If you die once you lose your gun and the starter gun in later stages is useless!! I got to around 40:00 and I was so proud lol this guys my hero for beating this game! I didn't think it was possible
Direct that towards EA, as they're making a whole bunch of new Star Wars games. DICE, Bioware and Visceral are behind them though, so I have some faith.
now that's odd. i can't remember the scene when luke single handed killed nearly to third of the entire storm trooper army in mos eisley... guess i have to watch the movie again.
@videogameadventure Very true, I just recently beat this on Jedi a few months ago on an emulator since I have not played it in ages. I forgot how how the SNES Star Wars games are on Jedi difficulty. They will definitely punish the crap out of you and aggravate you if you are persistent like myself!
And this is why I don't upload star wars games anymore. Had my account warned for 6 months due to a copyright claim over my Star Wars Rebel Assault 1 and 2 longplays. Fuck jewtube.
And this copyright horseshit is why I quit doing LP's. TH-cam is sucking every company's filthy dicks and doing this just to avoid a stupid-ass lawsuit. F.U. Google.
when i was a lad, my mother and I were shopping, she gave me a choice of one video game. it was between this and top gear. needless to say i picked top gear. OH GOD WHY
Fuck me, I have heard it all now! Copyright claim on a Super nintendo rendition of the Star Wars Theme song! That's just fucking pathetic! Do they really think somebody is that desperate that they cant get the Star wars them tune anywhere they would rip it from this video! I mean these ROMs are easily and freely available for anybody to download with a Google search of "SNES Emulator" and "Star wars ROM SNES". I am lots for words and I now not watching this video either!
I agree, but recent stuff Lucas Arts made was not great. Maybe it's for the best. Disney will liscense other companies to make Star Wars games. My favorite Lucas Arts game is probably between this one and Rogue Squadron II on the GameCube.
When I wanted to sit down and play something I knew I could beat this was the one. Empire and Jedi were much harder. And I was never a good videogame player.
Watching the first level alone brings a whole new meaning to Ben Kenobi's advice:
"The Jundland Wastes are not to be traveled lightly."
I'm happy to see the audio in this video again! :)
xRavenXP Amen to that. Was getting really sick of copyright bs ruining this and the other games.
I don't remember the part of the movie when Luke went apeshit on the Jawas.
Like father like son, eh?
This game is horribly unforgiving. So much trial and error.
Some serious nostalgia watching this. Awesome game
Jesus, Luke kills more Jawas and Tuskens than Anakin ever did.
Vader: Why do I suddenly feel extremely proud?
Hell yea man, youtube can be so great to be able to find the endings to certain games you were never able to defeat. If some find this game difficult try playing starwars ( famcom japan). That game made me thank that super starwars came out.
I loved it for that exact reason, it was so fun yet so difficult.
I've yet to get past the final Death Star assault though, granted I've not played it in a good 13 years, but still.
My brother claims he completed it, I never believed him.
How the hell do you slide?! I try to but all the guy does is jump around like a banshee!
+ejr23 down-right and b.
08:00
Obi Wan: "And these last points, too accurate for Sand People. Only Imperial Storm Troopers are so precise."
Luke: "Uhhh... yeah... Storm Troopers did it.... we'll go with that."
The Force HAD to have been strong with whomever played this game. There are enemies popping up every two seconds after you kill just one.
+99thJediWarrior agree this game was so goddam hard it showed no mercy but it was great
In those days I had the Commodore Amiga 500+ and my friend had Super Nintendo and this game. i seriously want to go back to the 90s, man i was so much happier then, the games......my god the games were great....ahhhhhhhhhh
Damn, I was gonna listen to this SNES sample footage in lieu of buying the Star Wars soundtrack. Now I have to buy the soundtrack after all..
A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away... The Super Star Wars Trilogy Begins With Super Star Wars for your Super NES from JVC and Nintendo! May The Force Be With You!
Enough of the muting BS, TH-cam. All your doing is trolling us.
My favourite weapon upgrade is the Ion Blaster. The sound effects are still awesome.
Lord Almighty this game use to piss me off SO MUCH. Such a difficult game and especially for a kid. I will never forget the late night i beat it. @Berserk100
The episode IV title was added back in 1981, when Star Wars was re-released in cinemas.
I played this when I was five years old and I could never get past that big stormtrooper vehicle thing. One time I got past it and managed to get up to the trench run on the Death Star, but before I could beat it, I had to turn off my SNES and go have dinner.

I liked the part when Luke shoots Obi-Wan with a blaster (21:30). Classic Star Wars moment!
Star Wars on Steroids.
Luke shoots Obi Wan by accident:
"Whoops, sorry!"
"No prob."
I remember level 4 being a massive pain for me, or more specifically, that last jump before the camera starts to slowly pan towards the boss. Oh, the '90s. When Luke and C-3PO relentlessly murdering Jawas in a landspeeder with guns that also flies didn't seem weird.
thanks for uploading all the super star wars games for SNES damn they are all hard
man do i love this game. its heart warming to see it. i think it sucks that there has never been an updated version to the orginal Star wars games
*cough*
brilliant LP, I can't even get through the first level no-deaths so this was a real treat to see. Thanks a million!
To quote the Angry Video Game Nerd, "These games follow the story closely and take liberties only when neccessary." It makes the game unique and fun.
In regards to the Sand Crawler stage(s)... Is it really any wonder why the Empire used excessive force in attempting to retrieve R2 and 3PO?
I don't remember the scene where Chewbacca fought a giant Kalhar Boss Monster in the bar.
after all this time... this game still looks and sound amazing! For some reason, this is my personal favorite Star Wars game. The SSW: Empire Strikes Back didnt have the same feel to me. Like it was the same game w/ some tweaks but those tweaks didnt work for me.
Hilarious at 52:10 when he shoots to the music. Idk why but I was amused.
This games the best! It's so hard though. If you die once you lose your gun and the starter gun in later stages is useless!! I got to around 40:00 and I was so proud lol this guys my hero for beating this game! I didn't think it was possible
I remember mail ordering this game for the first person X-Wing level alone. Found out the rest was also great, despite the liberties they took
Love how Luke constantly looks behind him all the time, most paranoid Jedi ever! :)
I remember it took me forever to get past the Jawa's Sandcrawler.... Then getting past the Cantina was a challenge... After that it was all gravy.
Direct that towards EA, as they're making a whole bunch of new Star Wars games. DICE, Bioware and Visceral are behind them though, so I have some faith.
I always had to get my dad to fight the boss of the cantina when I was little..
So many good memories.
now that's odd. i can't remember the scene when luke single handed killed nearly to third of the entire storm trooper army in mos eisley...
guess i have to watch the movie again.
Remember that part of the movie when Luke went on a killing spree with a rocket launcher in order to save R2-D2? No? Huh...
Empire Strikes Back was harder, but yeah, if you lost your gun towards the end of this one might as well turn it off.
Life was so much nicer back then, and more optimistic
@videogameadventure Very true, I just recently beat this on Jedi a few months ago on an emulator since I have not played it in ages. I forgot how how the SNES Star Wars games are on Jedi difficulty. They will definitely punish the crap out of you and aggravate you if you are persistent like myself!
Wow you beat it? You must have had incredible patience as a child. I think I broke my controller in half after playing it for one weekend.
@JBugGamer Nope, all 3 games had no way of saving.
F.U. Google.
52:11 nice blaster accompaniment.
The game that introduced me to Star Wars. Fantastic!
Also, STAY ON TARGET!
My favorite part of the movie Star Wars was when Han Solo fought the tractor beam.
when i was a lad, my mother and I were shopping, she gave me a choice of one video game. it was between this and top gear. needless to say i picked top gear. OH GOD WHY
May The Force Be With You!
did the game alwasy say episode 4 a new hope, because wasnt it just called star wars back in 1992
Yeah. Back in the days, when Gredo didn't even shoot.
kinda wish they did presquel ones too for snes same style too
The seeker blaster is much better. Yes, it does less damage, but you don't have to aim.
Fuck me, I have heard it all now! Copyright claim on a Super nintendo rendition of the Star Wars Theme song! That's just fucking pathetic! I mean these ROMs are easily and freely available for anybody to download with a Google search of "SNES Emulator" and "Star wars ROM SNES". I am lots for words and I now not watching this video either!
Your telling me? it took me several times of renting to finish this game.
I agree, but recent stuff Lucas Arts made was not great. Maybe it's for the best. Disney will liscense other companies to make Star Wars games. My favorite Lucas Arts game is probably between this one and Rogue Squadron II on the GameCube.
They need to remake all three super star wars games and include the prequels.
Chewbacca looks kinda short in that final shot at the end there...
Turn The Sound On Now!
For a second there in the intro with the start menu, i thought it was playing "Here Comes The Bride".
@2hakkabakka Haven't you heard of "Alternate adaptations"?
When I wanted to sit down and play something I knew I could beat this was the one. Empire and Jedi were much harder. And I was never a good videogame player.
Yeah, I agree, Empire and Jedi were much harder than this game. Super Star Wars, while tough, is still the easiest of this trilogy.
OH GOD THE MEMORIES!
Gonna get the Super Star Wars games off of my Wii.
I love how they shoot up wihout looking... Self confidence!!!
What difficulty are these star wars games on?
Hey I do. It was the Jedi...uhh directors cut version.
man all that jumping took skills. >:V I miss those kind of games were you actually needed mad skills to pass a level
i remember beating this when i was 6 years old. i was happy
Luke looks and moves a bit like a young Guybrush Threepwood in this game.
I made it to the sand people’s stage but that was as far as I eve got as a kid
R.I.P. Lucas Arts :(
I remember having SOOOO much trouble with the final fight vs Vader in Empire. Awww did I curse :S
RIP LucasArts :(
Made some awesome games
extended universe, man. crazy stuff.
My Younger Sister thought the Death Star's Designs was a Pokeball... O.O
Oh outside the sandcrawler, almost to the top almost there just one more jump.... Shoot back on the treads lol :(
I Like This Game. . . Shoot First. Ask Questions Later. !!!
Ah, the 90's... when we were fucking up the world instead of paying for having fucked up the world.
Must be all that Space Weed that he gets in Tashi Station ;)
In 1992 I would have sold a kidney to own this game. I got it eventually 2 years later
who misses the 90s
Falling off the sandcrawler used to annoy the tits off me
This game was good, biggest problem was that many enemies and bosses took waaaaaay to many hits.
you might've had the difficulty up too high change (decrease) the difficulty
use the force luke i love the super snes games of star wars.
awesome lps of these games.
