    Love mine, great model and something none of us ever thought we would see in plastic.

      lakeshoremodelrr I was shocked when they announced they were producing this model, all of us at the train club were amazed and many of us bought one or two, it's quite a show stopper when I rarely run mine.

      Amen! I ponied up some cash to get one of the first release Loksound Rivet Counter versions and paid just under $600 for it. A couple friends at our model railroad club also bought some and one got a Museum Quality versions and after running them for a while we noticed the lead truck was constantly floating as it went through switches and got pretty annoying. It was an easy fix and Scaletrains repaired them quickly but I just adjusted mine on my own. The second run should have every bug eliminated and it'll be a wise investment to buy one.
      I think Scaletrains hit the ball out of the park in this model, just incredible! And now you notice the other model builders are a ping up their game to compete with Scaletrains, lol.
      Oh, when you get yours, I advise caution in making sure the turbine exhaust outlet cross brace doesn't get broken off plus, there's a four way brace farther down the exhaust outlet that can also come out. How mine came off is a mystery since someone would have to jam their finger a couple inches down the outlet or, it just came off somehow. Enjoy!

    Two of my favorite "You Tubers" together - pretty cool. It took me most of the opening credits to realize that James was using Kevin's intro music :-) Very nice video and a nice review of these new beasts. I haven't picked one up yet, but being mostly a UP fan I foresee a GTEL in my future. Neat to see you together, will we see more in the future?Loved the run bys, but James you should have put a "proper" UP caboose on the end :-) UP's bay-window cabooses came long after the turbines were in the scrap heap.

    Great review. I have found that if you turn the sound down to a lower level then the distortion (crackle) will most likely disappear.

    The Big Blow had a small diesel engine that it used to move around yards. That is a cool feature of the model.

      I recommend getting the Rivet Counter. Better pull, traction, and a slightly more accurate body.

      The music is "Hot Heat" by Topher Mohr and Alex Elena. It's the intro music I use for all the videos on my channel. James "mashed" our two intros together for this video. Cheers, Kevin

    So I could assume the B -unit is powered??? Are the sound systems the same just the cv's are set different or a cheaper system in the rivet counter compaired to the Museum quality? Nice Demo!

    • @gloriadevos1790
      @gloriadevos1790 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      JOHN ADAM I realize that my reply may be redundant since it's been a couple years. I have the Rivet Counter version and a friend from the club bought the museum version and they both sound identical in every way. They're both powered and identical in details to the museum version. Hope this helps. If you can find one under $425 that has sound installed, I'd jump in it. Some people may not like the front truck issue and dump it at a train show. Scaletrains knows about this defect and will repair it for free. The second run versions shouldn't have any issues with the trucks floating as it goes through some switches.

    hi,
    the turbine is so noise, so i change the CV to make it less noisy, but then i can hear the turbine fan motor creates "loosing" noice when it is turning, do you know any way that i can change the CV to stop this motor, thx and appreciate ^^

    Hello. Good video. A question. The Rivet Counter Big Blow's sound is exactly equal to the sound of Museum Quality Big Blow? Thanks

    • @Scaletrains
      @Scaletrains 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +SuperFrecciaNera The Turbine sound is exactly the same between the Rivet Counter and Museum Quality versions. The primary sound differences between the two versions are the Museum Quality includes curve squeal and frog clank. Also, you'll have more access to sound features using DCC. Shane

    A Turban is what they wear on their head in India.

    +jlwii2000 where do you get your roadwork from?

    • @Modeltrains
      @Modeltrains 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are asking about the roads in this video, those are on my Colorado Joint Line layout rather than James' layout. They were made with plaster, then painted and weathered with chalks. You can see the installation and weathering of them on some of the videos on my channel if you're interested. Cheers, Kevin

      7 inches. I kinda wish they made this into a normal diesel irl.

    I'd say it's damn near perfect except for the sound with is gruesomely off. The detail is spectacular and the pulling power is on par with the UP Big Boy. And though the sound of the Turbine should be more like that of a tornado than a fighter jet (which should be easily fixed with some adjustments to the decoder) I'd say this model is a solid 9.5/10

    I purchased one of these received last week. When I opened it parts were falling off. The tender was poorly assembled. I emailed Scaletrains, Kimberly told me that she would forward my email to service, . After 4 days I still hadn't heard from anyone so I sent another email Kimberly again responded said the email had gotten sent back to her from their email to service. she asked for my phone number so I gave it to her. 4 days more and still no word from Scaletrains guess it was my bad to purchase from this company, their service and warranty seem to be worthless. They have their money so screw the customer. I do not recommend doing business with this company I know I will NEVER purchase a product from this company again....
