Thin Lizzy was a great part of my childhood. My father is a roadie, and he introduced me to rock & metal from birth. My mother was a big fan of Thin Lizzy, and she bought me a VHS tape with this concert, and one with Sidney '79! I watched those tapes every day through my younger days, and Phil Lynott, Gary Moore & Scott Gorham became heroes to me. I grew up with the sounds of Thin Lizzy, Dire Straits, Iron Maiden, Marillion, Europe, Dio, Hendrix, Helloween, W.A.S.P & Scorpions, and to this day, those bands make the foundation stone of my musical taste. I will forever be grateful for my parent's musical influence, because without it, I wouldn't be sitting here, listening to this fantastic tune by Thin Lizzy. Iwould probably just listen to Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift. We all miss you Phil, and I just hope that you are up there. Jamming with Gary Moore, Jimmy Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton, Ronnie James Dio, Clive Burr, Lemmy Killmister, Ingo Schwichtenberg and all the others we have lost✨
I saw a compliment that Uriah Heep sounded somewhat like Thin Lizzy so I decided to try the Thin one out & Uriah Heep are far better imo I call this style of band pop-metal lol
We Are One. Phil Lynott is the coolest, most passionate hard rock and blues artist. Lyrics so heartfelt, evocative, profoundly spiritual. I think of him as my older brother.
I just started listening to Thin Lizzy yesterday and can't get over how amazing they are! I've heard their radio hits and those are good but I never got any deeper than that. Instantly I recognized the main riff of this song as being similar to "creeping death" I love how their music varies across different genres. I can definitely hear some similarities in their sound in bands that came after them.
I started listening to them today because I saw a compliment that Uriah Heep sounded somewhat like Thin Lizzy so I decided to try the Thin one out & Uriah Heep are far better imo I call this style of band pop-metal lol
this is one of the best and uderestimated rock songs lizzy ever performed. no rock band then or today wrote or writes lyrics like this with such great musicians. just listen to phils bass playing, brians druming and scot and gary's guitar playing.. this song has got the lot.
Theres a lot Id do with a time machine but one thing for sure is to make sure I saw thin lizzy. I was born in april of 86 so I never had a chance to see the greatness. RIP Phil! Legend
old school rock........one of a kind. miss those good old days of arena rock,boston,BOC,nazareth,ac/dc,foghat,thin lizzy..too many to name. ROCK ON!!!!!!
What a great piece of work. I was lucky enough to go to both the Feb and March 83 Thunder and Lighening concerts at the Brum Odeon. Class act even then. RIP Phil.
I have been a fan since my conversion in '82. What I am amazed at is how many fans they STILL have. It is not as if they were one of the superbands like the Stones or the Beatles but from the present day fervor you wouldn 't know the difference.
This is just wonderful. There wasn't a better band from Britain than this. Phil Lynott was one of the supreme front men in rock, great voice, presence and a fine musician to boot. All brilliant musicians and Gary Moore on guitar - wow..
Lizzy such a badass amazing band with good hearts & soul. Finest Irish band in history. Some session in heavan at the moment with Phil, Gary, Jimi and all the other greats. R.I.P lads Eire is proud of you!! :-)
Thin Lizzy is soooo underrated. Pioneer of Hard Rock, huge range of diversity in their style, just look at this song, it's more like Heavy Metal, but they can still make rock songs closer to ballads like Dancing in the Moonlight (it's caught me in the spotlight). It's sad to see alot of band didn't got the fame they should have and some got overrated... How can disco rock bands like Kiss get famous and real musicians and composers lie in the shadows of commercial stuff?
My hero. Thank you for your magic and inspiration. Seen ur statue in Dublin. Eternally Out Here. Had the honour of seeing you live and it lives with me forever. The reason God built a stage... you had so much more to do. May God hold you in the palm of his hand and protect all that is precious to you xxxx
You are up there creating a Holy War. Love this song. You had so much more to do. WE all lost out. The reason God built a stage.......Will never make sense of your passing. Still Out Here!!!
I'm a drummer/vocalist since i was 14 yrs.old. I'm now 59 n still lay it down n my bands back in the day we played some Thin Lizzy. Man this is a great tune with great energy through out my friends. It just never let u down it's a tune that u want to go on n on. That does not alway's happen!!!!!!!!
So much power and soul. Johns solo reminds you in the beginning how its not all about speed, its about tone and soul, although he reminds you in the end how a little speed doesnt hurt. Thin Lizzy, you're amazing sound will never be forgotten. R.I.P. Phill Lynnot, and although hes not in this video, R.I.P. Gary Moore, you were talent in its rawest form, thankyou for all you've done.
I have most of their vinyl albums. I finally saw them live this year at the Wolf Den in CT, 3-26-22. Got to meet Scott, Brian, Vivian, Ricky & Marco... What a night. Great tribute to Phil & Gary who are sadly missed!!
I love this band more than life itself! Thank God I have a father who knows his music and got me into this super group. Phil Lynott's passing was such a tragedy and it's great to see that people still, or are even just beginning to appreciate them. My advice is to go and see the tribute Limehouse Lizzy, they are amazing!
I saw a compliment that Uriah Heep sounded somewhat like Thin Lizzy so I decided to try the Thin one out & Uriah Heep are far better imo I call this style of band pop-metal lol
this must have been nice to see living back in the day.................this is an good example of good ass rock n roll jammers..........never heard of these guys until now..........
+ray rancourt It must have been digitally remastered then because my CD sounds fricken awesome. Not like the production sounded on Metallicas kill em all.
John Sykes was the rebirth of Lizzy, who was well into Hawkwind/Status Quo obscurity by that point. Too bad Phil couldn't kick his habit, he had the brass ring in his grasp with the T&L lineup...
It was from his rock and roll lifestyle(Drugs&drink) just took its toll in the end ! In the end he was taken into hosptial with a pneumonia then died a week or two later he was very sick but it was unexpected ! R.I.P Philo your terribly missed ! YOu will never be forgotten ! xxx
"...if God is in the heavens, why does God let children die?" Phil and Lizzy, under-rated? Not by me and every other metalhead I know! Phil was my idol. Fantastic live performance of a brilliant song. 20 years on and if anything it's even more relevant today. Thanks a million for putting this up.
I will share my thoughts. Phil Lynott and his bands of various line ups were very special. Thanks to the person who dropped [lost], Thunder and Lightening on the road for me to find and pick up. The music never tires.
simply one of the greatest hard rock bands ever. Phil was a one-off..... genius
Amen
They have influenced so heavy and thrash bands coming to the 80s. I miss the times when I wasn't alive.
This is an incredible good song!!! One of the very best rock songs I've ever heard! Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy will never be forgotten.
This and Wild One are Lizzys Best Songs imo!
I agree 100%!
Thin Lizzy should be in the Hall of Fame
Brian Downey is a great drummer. This band is unreal
Its diversity is impressive
Scott Gorham is like that one awesome friend that sticks with you till the end.
GuitarMaven going to see him tonight in Belfast can't wait
Thin Lizzy is by far the best band ever. A great band cut short

Dime and Vinny, later era same passion in their music
I saw a compliment that Uriah Heep sounded somewhat like Thin Lizzy so I decided to try the Thin one out & Uriah Heep are far better imo

It's John Sykes on guitar not Gary. It's a warm up show for what was the Thunder and Lightning Tour 1983.
Great Song. Great Phil (R.I.P) Johnny & Scott. Forever Thin Lizzy. Cek from Italy
I cannot find defects on this band. Awesome musicians, excellent lyrics, excellent vocal, great frontman, superb live skills.
i agree
simply the best band ever
Make no mistake >>>>>>>> This is the first Irish rock band with world-wide recognition !!
This is damn good THIN LIZZY! I remember listening to these guys at a very young age. They definitely had early influence on me... #HOLY WAR
Theres a lot Id do with a time machine but one thing for sure is to make sure I saw thin lizzy. I was born in april of 86 so I never had a chance to see the greatness. RIP Phil! Legend

This is the song I heard that got me into this band. i haven't heard this in at least 25 years. The beat is amazing.
It's a crime they only made one album with Sykes.
Never there was a band with so many awesome songs
Awesome bass by Phil!
his bass guitar rocks SO MUCH
What a great piece of work. I was lucky enough to go to both the Feb and March 83 Thunder and Lighening concerts at the Brum Odeon. Class act even then. RIP Phil.

This is just wonderful. There wasn't a better band from Britain than this. Phil Lynott was one of the supreme front men in rock, great voice, presence and a fine musician to boot. All brilliant musicians and Gary Moore on guitar - wow..
A poet of Rock and Roll, kicking and fingerpicking through the lines of life and strings.
I cant hear you over the sound of their awesomeness.
You will forever be missed Phil.
Lizzy such a badass amazing band with good hearts & soul. Finest Irish band in history. Some session in heavan at the moment with Phil, Gary, Jimi and all the other greats. R.I.P lads Eire is proud of you!! :-)
Way ahead of their time! Anybody who got to see them perform is so lucky.

fantastic lizzy tune
Thunder and Lightening still pounds out in my car great great album from an astonishing band.
Kelvin Noden great record
but its recording production was terrible.
+ray rancourt It must have been digitally remastered then because my CD sounds fricken awesome. Not like the production sounded on Metallicas kill em all.
What a grand piece this is! Personally, I value it as one of the purest of the pure heavy metal songs along with Maiden's 'Phantom of the Opera'.
John Sykes was the rebirth of Lizzy, who was well into Hawkwind/Status Quo obscurity by that point. Too bad Phil couldn't kick his habit, he had the brass ring in his grasp with the T&L lineup...
this band is so upbeat and there from the 80s thats badass
Love this man, this band. If God is in Heaven then why is he not here now? Still Out Here!!!
Awesome band and great Phil ❤️
Of all the versions, this one just has that "something special" feeling. Its so powerful.
How awesome Phil added lyrics to this song that really took it to another level.
So well said Glennfaw. I have been watching this video daily. Such a driving, passionate song. I am glad HellRythm posted it.
It was from his rock and roll lifestyle(Drugs&drink) just took its toll in the end ! In the end he was taken into hosptial with a pneumonia then died a week or two later he was very sick but it was unexpected !

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is music!!!!
such a simple riff on bass by PHILLIP L., and what a pleasure to listen to it, one of my favorite ever!!
I will share my thoughts. Phil Lynott and his bands of various line ups were very special. Thanks to the person who dropped [lost], Thunder and Lightening on the road for me to find and pick up. The music never tires.
Sykes and Moore. the missing Lizzy duo.
