I agree. He isnt wrong a lot play standard in studio but play flat live. There's two performances that made me love half a step down. I just felt it fit the mood and his voice more. I want to purchase from PMT. But I need this man to make commission from me, and I'm in America. I've learned a lot from this guy hes rad as fuck.
it happens. I've serviced lots of guitars and it's not uncommon. hahah. it's like a muscle that you rarely put to use, and suddenly you exert force with it, it gets cranky.
Happened to me only once. Bought a guitar that had very corroded strings, so I suppose a particularly rusty bit on the capstan found itself taking the strain for a moment as it was being slackened.
Just heard about these new XS strings today. I'm not used to paying £20 for a set of strings , but i've just pre-ordered. Great review by the way....its the first time I've come across you mate....... from one Geordie to another........"keep ahaad"
Hey Dagan! Do you know if anyone has done an ELECTRIC comparison between XT and XS? When I compared the accoustic XT and XS, I was deeply disappointed with the XS because I heard such great stuff. 1) First off, the XT’s are more totally balanced and the XS leans toward treble tones, so there was less bass. I prefer balanced strings, so I’m not sure what’s accounting for the difference - maybe it’s the different cores, coating process, or both? 2) The XS was WAY too slick. My fingers were sliding off the sides while playing. I never had that problem with the XT’s. 3) I do like the tighter response that sounds a bit less muddy on the XS. I wish they could do that with the XT and they’d be perfect for me. So that bummed me ever so slightly about my beloved XT’s because now I feel like I’m missing out on a great XS feature, lol. 4) The XS had to be changed much sooner than my XT’s. The XT’s can make it 2-3 months no problem. The XS barely made it to 6 weeks. I thought they were supposed to last even long than the XT, but apparently not. I don’t have sweaty/dirty hands and the conditions were identical - guitar on my stand in my apartment’s bedroom. The XS coating was coming off faster, which meant they started corroding sooner. The strings just gave out and started to sound nearly dead around week 4. I’m probably missing something, but those were my main takeaways. So I went back to using the XT’s. The big bummer about being a little muddier sounding is a trade off I’m okay with. They were just too slick and too treble-leaning, among the other issues. I’m hoping D’addario will take what they’ve learned with the XS and figure out how to tighten the string response so they’ll also sound as clear as the XS while retaining everything else I love about them. That being said, I’m now looking for similar comparisons with the electric XT/XS counterparts. I can’t seem to find ANY side-by-side video demos and longevity tests. Do you think that’s something you can do for a future video? Thanks!
Favorite drop tuning for 6 string is Drop C, 7 string is probably Drop A or G, standard tuning is C standard on an acoustic and I’m stuck between E and Eb for electric
Dagan, it's stupid how many rank amateurs will actually go head to head with you in debating strings! Haha I always look to pros, like yourself, with years of experience to help me navigate the paletoria of options in the music industry. Thanks for the video! BTW, @9:40... Re-string'did is the perfect past tense. If in doubt put "did" at the end of the verb. You'll fit right in in Arkansas! LOL .
I bought a set of these months ago and am still wondering which guitar to put them on. Sort of putting it off. First time using coated strings. This video says, use 'em. So, soon...maybe...
Is this buzz possibly because the strings are new or something through the recording? Because it seems like it wouldn't be such a desirable thing to have.
I've been an Elixir 13-56 user for years but I've been having a real problem with breaking strings recently. I tried the XS strings, they have a great tone, they've lasted longer but I feel like they don't have as much "power".
I have sweaty hands and normal strings last only for a week on my guitar. I usually use elixirs and they have been the best on my strat and my acoustic guitars. Ill try these soon when I can get them. Thanks for the video
I use the xt's but ill may try those later :) the gauge is 11-52 in standard E. I do have a LP amd a Jackson king V wich is set up in Eb permently. Otherwise i just tune the other guitars to A440.
can you tell which point are you trying to convey by playing in Eb? seriously, I'm asking because I don't know why people use different tunings and I don't find useful info on the web.
It's just a preference of the player. Like I generally love metal and I'm getting more into playing with palm muting etc. But learning I'd look up songs like from 3 doors down (dont judge) and some system used half a step down so I came to like using it primarily.
Standard tuning but I don't know how to do any other tuning been playing fo a year. I have Martin 2.0 lifespan strings 12s treated I love them Not a fan of those strings you got on sorry dagen
I'm very skeptical. I've been "forced" to use elixir strings for years because uncoated strings last like a week for me. I don't know what kind of curse it is. Even the "mildly" coated strings like d'addario XT, who they say last very long, no difference whatsoever. I'm annoyed by the compromises though. Elixir strings are hard, the 09 feel like 10, and they're more slippery too which is not all bad, but bends are though for me. Also the sound is not as good as uncoated. If they really made some actual progress on this regard then I'll be happy to buy these strings for life, but so far many have promised and none has delivered, not even close to elixir's endurance. And cmon d'addario, we want those for electric.
I have always wondered why Acoustic guitars have 4 bronze / wound + 2 thin strings while electric guitars have 3 bronze / wound strings and 3 thin strings. can someone tell me why that is?
Historical evolution. Back in the 1940's string sets were 13+ acoustic gauge so the G pretty much needed to be wound. Bending and vibrato weren't common techniques until the 60's rock'n'rollers. They cheated by shifting 13+ gauges across one row and using lighter banjo strings for the thin E. Effectively they created hybrid 9/10 gauge sets, with unwound 3rds. String makers saw the market. The rest is history. Unwound leccy 3rds just stuck around. You can still get wound 3rd leccy sets if you shop around. It's all a preference thing. Plain G's are easier to bend and less finger noise. Wound G's sound a bit darker and fuller (jazz players) and intonate maybe a smidge better. Some think a wound 3rd is a more even tonal spread across the 6 than an unwound. Try one at some point, you might like it, or loathe it. It's all a personal taste thing and what you feel - there's no right/wrong (despite the heat it generates on forums lol).
"Feels like playing a proper guitar" - a spot on description of epiphone guitars, however, imho, nothing can save epiphone acoustics, even the best of strings.
Yay it's always nice to see another person who likes playing in Eb especially since it's Dagan

What is mio doing on a guitar video
3:47 didn't know that a guitar string can break while downtuning/unwinding haha.
Hahahahahah
It happened to me once not even within a week of getting new strings 😭😭

On acoustic i've always loved C standard because 1.underrated tuning no one talks about 2. its resonant as well
I have always used EJ16's, hated coated strings, but I am picking up a set this week to try.
Eb for stratocasters is just perfect.
Which model of Epiphone is this?
EDIT: Found it. It's the dave navarro signature.
I love nickel bronze personally.
They're technically a coated string but coated with nickel.
My favorite guitar tuning is E Standard.
Drop A for me

I always use the Daddario's Nickel XL on my electrics and nothing else.

Eb all the way! =)

i bought a set and can't wait to try them
5:07 "It is ridiculous making a video on strings" 🤣
Is this buzz possibly because the strings are new or something through the recording? Because it seems like it wouldn't be such a desirable thing to have.
@BigKii Ah ok

d’addario xs or elixir nanoweb 12/53?
Nice review. Ive had set for ages and will try them today. Even nicer if you did review unplugged. But well done

i'll go full step !! those string sounds n behave differently than strings i'm using right now 👍 sounds good
Is that a Navarro signature? I dig it

Absolute injustice for demoing strings with a undersaddle pickup signal.
Compare to Elixir, which better?
Please can you do a video on sepulturas guitar tone
Testing strings with a piezo pickup? That doesn’t seem to make sense..

I thought for a moment you said "COVID strings". I think the lockdown is getting to me.
Epiphone have so upped there game in the last few years fast becoming high end middle of the road if such a thing exists
If ya can't beat elixer's, copy em 😁
They DI'd the acoustic guitar for a string preview, Carl!! *DI*
Standard tuning but I don't know how to do any other tuning been playing fo a year.
I have Martin 2.0 lifespan strings 12s treated I love them
Not a fan of those strings you got on sorry dagen
I have to agree on not cutting ends of strings lol it’s just bad. Buckethead does this and I love him but….not that part
Really not an acoustic guy, I did not know they made acoustic-electrics with the jack in the strap peg !
Acoustic always D#. Why not Eb....? 😛
Anybody tried this? Some coated strings out there tend to worn out your frets faster like E...imho..
I’ve never noticed how much he moves while explaining things
Hahaha got me on that special place in hell quip
It's like Russel Brand and Captain Jack Sparrow made a baby.
👍🏿🤘
i love you man but that guitar sounds super buzzy , sounds a bit bad
I agree I have Martin 2.0 lifespan strings 12s and they sound much better than these

@@bmfilmnut yeah but I'm refering to the guitar, not the strings ;)
@@tchaggbruin3805 couldn't agree more!
Guitar.
WHY ARE YOU BROKE UP WITH KATY RUSSELL???!
Does this Guy think he's Russel Brand?
other way around
Nah Dagan is funnier
Definitely something slightly different, but not necessary, not a game changer for sure
Alice in chains turn e flat
Unplug it.
only elixir is the best acoustic guitar strings in the world. and electric too. ha ha ha
