Hence why I knew at age 9 in little league that only position I DIDN’T wanna play was 1st base. I preferred 3rd base cause it’s about throwing, not catching and I had a good arm that I just needed to direct and channel better
I remember going to a week long MLB tryout camp at the Bucky Dent baseball school in the early 90's, and there was a Yankee scout there who would say "pick it big moose" every time I made a good scoop. That was a fun week.
Played short and 3rd in my playing days, but 1st base picks are always a pleasure to see. Especially when you're throwing to a guy with a scoop. Have so much confidence in making a throw over there, that he'll pick it. A great first baseman makes every infielder better.
My teammates say, if you are at the first base, we can throw without thinking about anything.I think It's my biggest achievement in my baseball carrier.
A thing a lot of people think about scoop is you swipe at the ball. It’s anything but the truth. You start your glove low so when the ball bounces you can bring your glove up. It’s easier than stabbing down at the ball.
Imagine you're falling from a building, and someone catches you at the exact moment your feet touch the ground - but before the rest of your body makes impact. That's what a first base pick is like.
chris davis has awesome fundamentals. too bad he's in a really bad offensive slump. and the O's are stuck with him for 4 more years at 161mil. O's can't grow with that over their head
Nothing more satisfying than a good pick
as a first baseman we all know how hard those plays are

OMG I KNOW RIGHT
Fr I’m a firsts base man
Lowkey kinda my fault but my teammates get upset when i dont scoop every single throw, like make the throw to my chest and u wont have to worry about

This could also be titled "third basemen not quite getting the ball to first"
even worse, shorts not making the throw either :l
It happens, when you're in a rush sometimes u cant make a nice throw so u rush it
Some first basemen prefer the scoop so short and third throw that way on purpose
As a first basemen this vid is awesome
First basemen never get the credit they deserve!!!
This is why these guys are in the pros

1:53 you can literally feel that it’s a playoff game. Was thinking to myself “this is definitely playoffs” then looked and yep
“Thank you to my mannn”
They make this look entirely too easy. I played first base and short stop for 13 years when I was in school and these balls are absolutely terrifying.
Picking is harder then people think
I love these plays, great vid
Here's an idea
Pitchers trying to catch a ball when its hit back but miss it and ruin it for the other players
Bat flipping on base hits
MLB YoU ARE THE BEEEEESSSStTT
Do best Luis Valbuena bat flips. RIP
