    BE ADVISED!!!! This is the best video on the internet for Enclave headlight replacement! The key piece of info is regarding the black tab to release the bulb, as well as this is one of the only videos that actually shows what you're dealing with. EXCELLENT help!

      I think a better way to describe the tab instead of twisting it which confused me but is technically right you are twisting tab assy . I think it would be clearer for folks if you described the tab being push up or down. IMHO

    Just completed changing my driver's side headlight... Thanks to Seth for making the video... got some comments... First, make sure you've got the right tools! A screwdriver with a star bit, and a plastic rivet pry tool is invaluable. I got one for $3 on Amazon. Also recommend nitrile gloves or similar. I first tried to do it without taking the wheel off, managed to get through the splash guard, and into the headlight cavity... got the bad light bulb out, but had an issue getting the new one in. Visibility was an issue, but I just couldn't get the new bulb into the socket far enough to turn the plastic lock tab. Reluctantly, I realized I'd have to take the wheel off. Again, HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS. The bloody hardest thing to do to this point was getting the effin' jack out of the back, and then, the jack bar out of the canvas bag... it was so tight in there, I just cut the bitch off. I heartily recommend using a better jack, and definitely a better bar, use a ratchet and socket if you can. Jacked the car up, got the wheel off, popped about 4 rivets out and was able to get the new bulb in. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE COVER BACK to the socket, I had to take 3 or 4 screws back out to get it done. Seems to have worked. I used Osram 66340HBI Xenarc 35W D3S PK32D-5 4600K HID Xenon Light Bulbs via Amazon. I wanted to use the Laser upgraded ones, but couldn't justify it on an 11 yr old car with 200k miles on it. Looking at the beams on the closed garage door, it actually looked like the remaining stock bulb was a little brighter, but I understand there's a burn-in period. I was gonna replace the other bulb, but as they look pretty much the same, I'll hold off and keep the other new bulb as a spare. Gotta admit, I fumbled the bulb getting it into the socket, so glad I was wearing the gloves. Also, after you've attached the wire to the bulb, don't drop it under the socket... I had a helluva time getting it back out. Ah well, it's all experience, right? Oh, and those 4 plastic rivets I pulled out weren't about to go back in, so I just left them out. The remaining ones and the screws seem to be doing a well enough job. Good luck!

    Thank you for this incredible video -it saved me $350.00 that a major dealer was going to charge me for labor only - not including the $150.00 for the D3S bulb. Your steps are the best walkthrough to do this repair . Great instruction!!!!!!

    Thank you for all the details. This is how video instructions with clear commentary should be. I have seen many rather hundreds of videos but yours is the best. All the instructions, for jack, compartment, tools, and clear demonstration with good tips. I liked your channel. Thank you very much for sharing this with youtubers. Great instructional yet practical video.

    We owe a lot to this young man and the video he created - two of biggest points are the hold down latch (down to unlock and upward to lock) and the direction the power plug faces (downward) - if you didn't know that, you would probably never complete the replacement process successfully. This video replaces the passenger's side bulb, I replaced the drivers side. The only difference is the hold down latch is on left side of the lamp holder. I did the replacement by rotating the tire inward as far as it would turn and then took out the sever T20 screws holding the rubber wheel well cover - it was difficult at best, if you have the time, do exactly what this video suggests - remove the tire. Thanks again, you really helped me.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH, I saved $ 725 compare to the dealership quote while having fun changing the light bulb :)
    I suggest putting more support under the car for your safety as it is a very heavy car.

      More support is encouraged, I did not mention to put a wedge on the back wheels to prevent it from rolling back. However my buick is awd, but everytime you jack your car up, you should jack stands. But I did not get fully underneath my car. Still good point!

    Your level of detail was phenomenal. You counted the star screws and the plastic rivets. The key is the black tab on the bulb holder and where to push the tab to release the bulb from the harness. I could have easily gotten that far on my own but would probably have broken everything without those last details. Thanks.

    This saved me SO MUCH TIME!!! Only thing to add is how to get the darn jack out of the storage slot who's opening isn`t large enough. Thanks for detailed video. I appreciated how many plastic clips and screws to remove and the decription of the lamp latch and fingers. Amazon sells replacement clips.

  • @PrincipalScratcher1

    This video saved me a couple hundred dollars. I didn't remove the wheel, so I had much less space and lots of pinch points on my hands. lol Anyone who does it like I did, wear rubber gloves. Also, it's a pain to keep from breaking the ceramic(?) mechanism on the new bulb while installing it, and remembering which way to attach the wiring harness to the bulb because there is one single prong and a double prong. It only goes on the bulb ONE way. Furthermore, you are the only video that mentions the black plastic tab. Thanks!!!!

    Almost exactly what I needed. I was doing the drivers side, and there is a soft flexible hose fixed to the wall that I could not get out, and after a while of trying to figure that out, just left the back half of the guard on and only took off the front half. Worked like a charm after that. Thanks so much! I had to change the buld abd the ballast, and got two bulbs and a ballast online for $100, so saved $700 as the dealership wanted $800 to change the bulb and the ballast!!!!

Bought the two Phillips bulbs on Amazon for $75/ea - my total savings? $650! Wow. I'll be putting your video to good work soon. Thank you for doing this!

      Done - 45 min. I was able to do it without taking off the tire, but had to dislocated my wrist to get the bulb out! ;) Seriously - next one I do, the wheel comes off as Seth's video shows - truly the smart thing to do. Would also have been easier to see the clamp you have to rotate to get the bulb out. $75 and 45 mins is much better than $400. Watch out for bulbs that only have a low beam - that's why some are less expensive.

    Definitely agree with folks that this video and the comments below are great. I didn't take the wheel off, instead turned the wheel and just peeled back part of the wheel well cover. While I didn't have as easy of access as they did in this video it did get the job done. I ordered the HID lights online and it took about 40 minutes to do both sides. One place quoted me 320 per bulb (not a typo) and 140 an hour for labor and would take 1.5 hours to do. I recommend wearing the gloves the same as he did in the video.

    Factory spec in the manual is 140 ft/lbs of torque on the lug nuts. I recently had my wheels rotated and they were torqued to 120-125 so that is what I ran mine too. Will check them after 500 miles and re-torque as needed.

    You can do this without pulling off the entire splashguard, and you do not need to take off the wheel. You can take off those 7 star bolts and pull the splash guard open enough to reach in. Turn the wheel in a direction that allows you to get the splash guard open and reach in.

      Me neither, as long as the color isn't too off, I would like to keep a spare.

    great video, thanks but this task to change a bulb is a pain. can't believe a manufacture would design it this way, yes to keep owners from working on own vehicles, however it is still time consuming. This is so dealers can charge more labor hours.

    Great video! was wondering my daytime light on passenger side are out. They say I have to replace the whole thing which is 1400. Do you know any other way to replace those?

      I have this same issue and was wondering if there is a way to fix it without replacing the whole thing

    It is best to wear gloves when handling the light so you don't touch the bulb by accident.

      My first bulb went out around 40-50K I think. But, it went out when I published this video and my car is a 2013, so three years. I think where you live can play a part too.

    What is the parking light bulb part number ?

      Sorry this video is not about the parking light bulb because it differs from the headlight bulb. But your local auto part store should tell you the part number

    So... I gotta jack the car up and remove the tire... to change a light bulb?!?!?
    🤯🤯🤯
    Are you sure I don't need to take apart the transmission?

    • @sethsouza8987
      @sethsouza8987  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you dont have to remove the tire. there are videos out there showing you that all you need to do is turn the wheel but you wont have as much space to work with. and you can take the transmission apart if you want to. that will probably make your lights shine brighter.

      Thank you. After doing quite a bit of searching, it turns out this video is actually one of the simplest ones. For this reason alone, I regret buying a Buick.

    I really liked this car until the headlights went out, I hope the rest of the usually easy repairs aren’t as big of a pain in the ass , I thought the first video I watched was a joke but no... it’s going to take me an hour to change a damn headlight bulb

      Did you twist the black tab counter clockwise? that black tab twists and clamps down on the metal arms to hold the bulb

      yes I got the bulb out the harness on the vehicle I couldn't get the actual bulb from the cable to replace it.

    • @ccnpseth4563
      @ccnpseth4563 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @9:40, you couldn't unplug that cable? you shouldn't be pulling on the glass part of the bulb at all.

    • @ashleybennett3761
      @ashleybennett3761 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didnt touch the glass at all it was hanging just like yours then I went to remove it . It wouldn't budge. I tried moving it side to side back and forward nothing.

    Why not go under the hood and remove the engine cover? That's a lot faster and safer than removing the tire.

    • @ccnpseth4563
      @ccnpseth4563 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never thought about that. Is it easier?

    • @mysurrender7
      @mysurrender7 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      nmoore1978 because it’s a very tight spot from the top and you cannot see what you are doing. It would all be done by feel and it’s a very delicate bulb. I tried that method and switched to tire method. You have way more room to work and have the benefit of seeing what you’re doing.
