I really dislike what Google is doing in its search algorithm. I switched to Bing as my primary search engine three years ago. More often than not Bing gets the results I need and shows more results that are relevant to the subject I'm looking for than Google. Google has a tendency to show results that are more related to commercialization, i.e. results that as to do with marketing and selling items that are (or might be) related to the subject being searched. In short, as a search engine Bing is what Google used to be: a search engine, whereas Google is now more like an advertisement site.
only reason i dont use it is because it doesnt have a built in dark mode that i can find, absolutely would use it if it had one but it doesnt on desktop version for some reason, annoying as shit
Agree. People laugh at the Microsoft service because anything that involves money is unethical, the same reason we must use privacy-preserving services and fight for free-as-in-freedom search engines and similar services.
But one still has to wonder how exactly free search engines can make money off of the usage, the answer, simple, advertising, but if you're going to use the chat option to answer your question, then there isn't much advertising opportunity.
bing is still ages behind google when it comes to servicing other languages, when I try to "bing" something in my native language the results are obnoxiously bad, it would rather show me some obscure american pages than the thing I was looking for which google would handle with ease
if only they didnt abandon the microsoft phones. i really liked the idea and hoped they worked on it and made it efficient and supported their mobile microsoft store too
Nice to hear that. But you know, once web developers have mastered the bing algorithm, they will start putting nonsense and popular tags just to be at the top of the search.
The fact that Bing is an recursive acronym that means "Bing Is Not Google" pretty much says it. Bing will never lead the market with a name that sucks so bad.
Interesting analysis. I recently switched to Bing and notice it does well when researching stock information. However, it's sucks for debug code problems. Basically what you said in the video.
The funny thing is: when coding it feels like I'm getting better results with DuckDuckGo than with Google. And DDG uses Bing. I wonder how that fits😅 (Really, I do)
This video is interesting and well crafted, with one thing that bugged me enough to point out-if you could mix up your wording more so that you’re not calling things “lucrative” every two seconds, it would be a bit easier to listen to. Right now it feels like Microsoft is paying you to say the word “lucrative,” with the word “profitable” coming in close behind it. Just gets repetitive and tiresome. But other than that one nitpicky thing, this is a great video and definitely better than anything I could put together. Will be interesting to see whether Microsoft takes over Google in this space in the next decade.
I switched to Bing about a month ago to give the rewards scheme a try and it's utter rubbish. Search results range from average to flat out unusable. Google will often place the answer to questions at the top of the page so you don't have to look through results, Bing does this but with the wrong answer more often than not. The rewards aren't worth the lack of functionality for me and I'm going to switch back soon.
Never expect bing to make a comeback the way they did!! Glad to see some competition!!

@@andrewsamuels77 you misunderstood me, what i mean to say is that each day you cannot ask more than 50 questions. It means after you have asked bing chat 50 questions. You cannot ask it anymore.
@@applyinggaming9529 oh ok.
i think you can just make a new chat box?
A narrow, economic analysis of Google Search's profit/loss ratio does not capture the value that Alphabet gets from owning and running it.
That’s true
How do I sign up for the new BING??
anyone remember AltaVista?
I'll be honest this is the first time I've considered going with Microsoft's approach instead. I've admittedly harbored some hate towards their products for a while now purely because of rumors how bad they are. Having MS Edge force install itself onto my windows pc and creeping into every opening-hyperlink didn't do it any favors either. But I'll actually try it out myself now and see if the rumors stil stand true.
my work pc has windows 10 on it, with edge as default browser. our IT allows Chrome install if we want it. Yet somehow, after a day or two using chrome, windows will say 'something went wrong, we have reset edge as default browser'. i change it to chrome and a couple days later 'something went wrong' lol. i finally gave up. Not like i have private info on there that could be leaked by edge.
Great analysis! I'm a Bing/Edge user and I love it!
Based on the video title, the fact that it earns the operators more money is the exact reason I don't want to use it. The less money they make off of me the better.
Bing is like the better, underrated sibling compared to Google.
"per user standpoint" seems pretty irrelevant to me. If I succeed in selling a single lemon for twice as much as the other guy (who sells thousands) charges then my "per lemon profit" is twice his.
Using edge for 2yrs now. Its my default browser now. Faster and less resource hungry than chrome
8:07 does anyone know what that device is he’s holding in his left hand?
That’s very true
The advertising industry works, in population terms. This is standard capitalism.
They will figure out how to put ads in chat as well
Excellent video!
yet still has no night mode on the desktop version of the web
Is this why they could give users rewards by using bing unlike Google?
bing is still ages behind google when it comes to servicing other languages, when I try to "bing" something in my native language the results are obnoxiously bad, it would rather show me some obscure american pages than the thing I was looking for which google would handle with ease
Great video as usual
Also I’d love to see a video on Carlos slim helu
Thanks for the suggestion Yeshaya!
Maybe talk about the iOS versions of bing and edge, they have some amazing features
if only they didnt abandon the microsoft phones. i really liked the idea and hoped they worked on it and made it efficient and supported their mobile microsoft store too
Once Bing's AI chat releases I am switching from Google to Bing. Google's first search results have been dropping in quality for months now.
It's already available. Also the quality of Google search has been terrible for years. More ads link than what u want
Nice to hear that. But you know, once web developers have mastered the bing algorithm, they will start putting nonsense and popular tags just to be at the top of the search.
i have already got it
Bing will get half my search business now because of Chat. I think it's great and Google deserves a little comeuppance.
Bing made a insane comeback
Fully moved from Chrome to Edge, with Bing as my default search engine. Not looking back till Google gets their **** together
I've been using bing for 6 months now. I can say its more good than google with full ads.
I have a been a moderate fan boy of Microsoft but I enjoy seeing Bing and Edge starting to seen as more popular rather than just unknowingly better.
i tried switching to bing last year, it’s search results are pathetic
did you know that schools install extensions on their teachers computers to use bing instead of google?
People remember how bad Internet explorer was.. People don't remind that how good egde is
The fact that Bing is an recursive acronym that means "Bing Is Not Google" pretty much says it. Bing will never lead the market with a name that sucks so bad.
This channel keep trying push me to use bing
I've been using Bing since 2014, good shit
BING will never grow above their 3%, all this is a short term buzz.
I wonder how that fits😅
(Really, I do)
Well, it's good for researching about stocks in the US but bing knows nothing our stock market
Imagine Microsoft turning edge into the portal to the internet....
Search engine is good and all but we also need a video platform that can compete youtube.
Satya has been the best thing to happen to Microsoft in over 2 decades.
Bing gives you a closer to answer towhat your looking for unlike google giving you a bunch of ads
When Bing takes over, I'm going to refer to it as "flicking the bing" instead of saying Bing it
