I live in St. Peters just a few miles from Royals Liquor. I went in for the first time yesterday and was surprised to see the store in your video that I discovered today. Nice store. I went all out and purchased Jim Beam Black Label 7 year. I was looking for something inexpensive and I've been wanting to try this. Dogwood Wine & Spirits and Friar Tucks are other stores that I frequent. Looking for an inexpensive Scotch? Try Total Wine's "For Peat's Sake".
American Single Malts tend to be pretty good, and they are a true gateway between bourbon and scotch. I would not start with Lagavulin! Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, or Glenlivet, maybe. Switchgrass and Wood Hat are decent, but they tend to be hot. If you want to see a nicely stocked bourbon shelf, I recommend the Blue Duck in Maplewood. Other locals to try: 1220 Spirits Withered Oak, Washington Distilling Co, Fernweh, and Pinckney Bend.
The Lagavulin we tried was pretty smooth and kinda bland. It wasn’t bad. Just not our thing. We haven’t tried a Wood Hat that we like yet unfortunately. Thanks for the other recommendations. We need to try more local stuff. Cheers Mitchell.
I really like those 15 Stars, definitely worth it! I also hate to give away my honey holes, but you should go to On the Rocks off Hwy 94 in St. Charles. Cheers
We’d like to try it. We have some other 2XO bottles at half the price. $200-300 is a lot for not much info and mixed reviews. Thanks for sharing the recommendation. Cheers!
You should have grabbed that Buzzard Roost Cigar Rye. Also next time out to St Charles area be sure to check out Grillo’s Chop & Barrel… Great single barrels and meat.
I’m interested in the Kings County, but the only one I have found is their Chocolate Whiskey. No thanks! I would be interested in your review of their barrel strength. Talk about mark ups… I finally found an Old Forester 1924 at $250! Good grief!
Yes on Buzzards Roost and I wouldn’t have gotten the travelers. But taters will Tate. Just saying. And any of the Redwood empire would have been a better choice. Lucky seven is a very good choice.
Gotta try the Travellers ourselves. Can't promise a positive recommendation though. Agree on the Redwood Empires. All are worth a spot on the shelf. Lucky Seven is good as well. Cheers!
Next time in St Charles County, try Corner Spirits. They have a good selection as well, on par with Friar Tuck and Dogwoods. 1228 Bryan Rd, O'Fallon, MO 63366
Thanks for watching. Yeah Been to Corner spirits a few times. Their glass case is pretty overpriced. But they do have a nice selection of regular bottles. Cheers!
Really like your style of bourbon hunt vids.
Glad you like them. Cheers!

Glad our video helped a little. Get to know Drew at Royals. He's very knowledgeable. Cheers!
the A1 off St Peters is a great place. Also there's store called On the Rocks. Both the better places that arn't a chain like Royals.
Thanks for the recommendations. We will check them out. Cheers!
15 stars platinum and triple cask are excellent
On our list to try. Thanks for the reco. Cheers.

We won’t tell anyone. We’ll have to try the 15 Stars as well. Cheers.
If you guys do a barrel pick you gotta figure out a way to get me a bottle or three in Canada
Yes. Will do our best.
Great haul! Would be great to see a review on that King's County. Totally agree on walking away on those outrageous mark ups. Cheers!
Look for a Kings County review. Cheers!
I just had a sample of that 2XO gem of Kentucky and it was fantastic

Thanks for the recommendations. Will stop by Grillo’s next time we are in the area. Love us some 🥃🥩
There is a store local to me that has the twice barreled JD for $300!!!!!! I got it on post a few weeks ago for $70 😁
And people pay this kind of money. 2-3x too much.
Welcome to my neck of the woods! I hope you tried Royals' AE pick.
We unfortunately did not try the AE pick. We’ll be back. Cheers!
@ArtfullyBourbon bummer. Finished whiskeys usually aren't my preference, but its so comparable to the AECS that it really stood out to me.
@@RobbbbC just grabbed the Royal's AE store pick about 2 weeks ago. A little pricey, but really nice.
@mattschmitt9924 no argument there but way cheaper than the AECS annual release
I went to dogwood and was turned off by their markups too
Always looking for a deal. Or just regular prices. Cheers.
Man I thought it was St Charles,IL😅
Maybe one day? We’ve never been to that St. Chuck.
You slept on the Ben Holladay. It will be regarded as an elite distillery in the next year.
No sleeping here. We are big fans of Holladay. Good stuff. Cheers!

We still haven't found a 1924 at a decent price. We have an episode ready when we do. We will do a Kings County episode as well. Cheers!
Traveller drinks like a $15-20, really disappointing at the price point it is generally listed at.
We don't have high hopes but we thought we’d try it once.
