I love the visual. The higher light (Christ) is steadfast and higher up. We're to let our (His) light shine through us on the lower shore so that the sailors out on the waves know where they can line up to make it safe back to the port, without crashing on the rocks.
This song bring memories ,l first heard it at a Baptist Church and it remained in my mind ,its like healing take it or leave l am from Trinidad Republic ,keep the lights burning
To our Filipino seafarers, may God Almighty keeps the lower light be burning so that you all reach the shores safely and gladly claimed that through Jesus there's Salvation!
When I heard this hymn for the first time I cried like a little boy. It also brought me back in time when I heard a sermon from Pastor Adrian Rodgers that is named Jesus is the light of this world. Pastor Adrian Rodgers is now with The Lord and this sermon brought me tears to my eyes.
My grandfather played the musical saw and this was the first song he taught me how to play it as well. I was about 14 at the time and am now 68 years young. Beautiful song. It came to mind for some reason and I found my way here.
My Uncle used to sing "me" to sleep with this song. I thought it was called Brightly Beams. I remember I'd ask him over and over to sing "Brightly Beams". Eventually he'd fall to sleep and I'd be back up singing the song. I just found out a few years ago the real title of the song. It's still my favorite but no one could sing it like my Uncle Bobby could.
Brightly beams our Father’s mercy, From His light-house ever more, But to us He gives the keeping, Of the lights along the shore. Chorus Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave! Some poor fainting, struggling seaman, You may rescue, you may save. Dark the night of sin has settled, Loud the angry billows roar; Eager eyes are watching, longing, For the lights along the shore. Trim your feeble lamp, my brother; Some poor sailor tempest-tost; Trying now to make the harbor, In the darkness may be lost.
Brightly beams our father's mercy From his lighthouse evermore But to us he gives the keeping Of the lights along the shore Let the lower lights be burning Send a gleam across the wave Some poor fainting, struggling seaman You may rescue, you may save Dark the night of sin has settled Loud the angry billows roar Eager eyes are watching, longing For the lights along the shore Let the lower lights be burning Send a gleam across the wave Some poor fainting, struggling seaman You may rescue, you may save
Pure faith is harmless, hurtless. Because "All prophets" say peace, fellowship and humanity. They (Saint Muhammet, Saint Jesus, Saint Moses, Saint David, Saint Joseph, Saint Solomon, Saint Noah...) said and gone.
This is my favourite rendition of this beautiful hymn. I'd like to know who wrote the 4th verse as the original written by Philip Bliss has only 3 verses. To me the 4th verse is so important as it reminds us that Jesus is our Pilot. Can anyone tell me who wrote this verse? God bless
I know not many people are that obsessed with religion to any degree. I really respect everything, I believe in God. I came to listen to this song because of a Stephen King book, but really imagining that scene with this song made me sick (not because of the song, since it's just a complement to what was happening)
"Mr. Lim". U meant this hymn too, didnt U ? When we were out at sea that stormy nite ...U were the one that said "dont stop". Y cldnt U just speak plainly, instead of muttering abt "angels/mermaids singing" ?

Sang it at my dad’s funeral. Was his all time favorite. ❤
As a child I remember my mom singing this song as she went about her daily chores. I loved listening to her sing it. It is such a beautiful hymn.
This song makes a point that we need to be the salt and light for a lost and dying world. May Christ truly be seen in our conduct.
So many Wonderful memories of playing this on the piano for my Dad when I was around 12 years of age,, and Him singing !! Thank you !!
Margaret White likes this 👍
Heck yeah
But preferably the version of Tennessee Ernie Ford
As she sows into the evening. Remember pimples are the lords way of chastising. Eat you apple cake.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪

Soo sobering to realise the light of our lives could help save some lost soul.
I love this song. I haven't heard it for so many years.

This is a powerful song
Brightly beams our father's mercy
From his lighthouse evermore
But to us he gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore
Let the lower lights be burning
Send a gleam across the wave
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save

Loud the angry billows roar
Eager eyes are watching, longing
For the lights along the shore

Awesome rendition of this beautiful hymn! Heard this first done by Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Fantastic production values with instruments and the men.

Make sure the lower lights are always beaming so that you would make the habour safely.
I particularly like Pat Boone's rendition. I hope some kind soul will upload it here one day soon.

CARRIE!
Stephen King's "Carrie" brought me here. Am I the only one?
Who is singing this? She has a most beautiful voice and is not identified for that gift!
Ashley Milne is the singer.
@@junelawrence6997 thank you-- just discovered that the beautiful voice is male. Irish baritone-tenor. Very nice.

@@kowalikkkowalikk3580 The words in this hymn are touching. Shows God's power and mercy, brings memories as a child growing up.
are you kidding me? this is beautiful song of God and you're here because of some idiotic movie?
Stuff a sock in it, Hennessy. What the hell difference does it make how anyone got here? The point is that they did.
