I did the exact same comparison last weekend at home and even added Lochlomond 15. Lochlomond was out of the game from beginning(despite being a decent scotch) and picking a winner bw GS15 and SB15 was impossible since at least for me SB15( maybe batch which I have ) has heavy sherry influence and springbank funk and GS15 is a gold standard of how ex bourbon scotch should taste.

I have just ordered my first bottle of GS15, having finished off my Glendronach 12 and Arran 10. I can't believe the price of GS15 vs other 15yo's and the reviews have been all positive.

I got a Springbank 15 year to get it off my bucket list. It is SO good but like the previous commenters have kind of said for the price Glen Scotia is the way to go. By me Glen Scotia is $69 USD vs the Springbank 15 year is $116 USD.

Fantastic comparison Alan. Both such great drams but value for money the Glen Scotia comes out top as the Springbank is MUCH more expensive but the difference in price doesn't justify the difference in the experience. Keep up your wonderful videos. Take care.

I noticed the smoke in the 15y Glen Scotia too, but they say it is unpeated? Where does the smoke come from? Is it from the scorched whiskey barrels? Thanks for the review!

I think I mentioned it to you Alan head to head GS15 wins for me. Both these malts offer a lot and it is just matter of preference. I would say GS15 is more on the pleasant side and if someone has a sweet tooth it is probably better choice for them. SB15 is less complacent and tad bit more challenging I would say for someone who is into slight "off" notes. Also worth pointing out the price difference GS15 better value. Nice comparison though!

I am no whisky expert Alan but I have enjoyed the cheapest (Campbeltown Harbour) GS when it is £25 as it is today. Usual price £35 so I got 3 bottles.

I picked up a bottle of the GS 15 for $55 at Costco. I found it pleasant but it didn't wow me. My Springbank experience is limited to the 12 y.o. cask strength which I got for $100. That's not a great comparison, due to the difference in age and ABV, but I definitely like the Springbank over the Glen Scotia. The SB 12 did give me some wow and provided some of the Campbletown characteristics that I've heard about. Not so much from the GS. It reminded me more of some highland malts I've tried.

The Glen Scotia 15. It's the only one from the GS range I've tried so far. Do you have a recommendation for what to try next from their range, victoriana, double cask or 18?

Great comparison, I would love to try the SB15. The Glenscotia 15 is in the price range of 12 year olds. I picked up my second bottle today and poured a nice dram from the first bottle after many months
What a great fruity and complex malt, with a great mouth feel. Seems way better than I remember.

Sorry I'm not super convinced with that GLEN SCOTIA 5 yo (maybe due to batch variations but I had 3 different batches samples & I have to say this was good but disappointingly too spicy, thin & oaky at the end, while the balance of the SPRINGBANK is awesome, with plenty of character...Cheers, Alan & yes, tastes like colors vary & it is no big deal...

If the internet is right, and we know it always is, there seems to be some significant batch variation with Springbank 15, something I don't have enough experience to comment on, but having bought at least a half-dozen bottles of Glen Scotia 15 over the past few years, I'd say batch variation is virtually non-existent.

SB15 is more like “out of stock” or closer to 250€. Therefore Glen Scotia is a clear winner to me. For 250€ I can get 20-25 yr old single malts that beat the SB15 around like it’s nothing. But yes realistically I would get an SB15 for the same price as the Glen Scotia 15.
