    Great video, I set my life jacket off by accident and your video explained everything in great detail to rearm it. I also liked your demonstration of the life jacket in use, I have a medical condition that causes me to pass out at random times if I cough too hard. It gives me some comfort knowing I might wake from a episode with the sun in my eyes!

    75 year old here and 70 year plus bride returning to the water in float tubes after decades away. Sold the boat a few years ago to my brother fishing salmon in Puget Sound. All day today looking at pfd's and whistles. Made me think somebody has to work in the test department of the whistle factory. Complete answers in your profile of this vest. I searched the same name as we thought to purchase the manual only for float tubing. But disabling the automatic leaves it open for another days use aboard a fast boat. Much grateful.

      Thanks. Yest leave the auto sensor off and just inflate with the pull strap or even mouth for several uses without replacing cartridge

    G MAN, the best part of this video is your t-shirt! Go Boys!!! No, seriously, this was one of the best how to videos on this topic. Your cool, calm and collected voice and presentation is MONEY! I have 4 on my boat and now I am confident I can recharge when needed. Peace Brother and many thanks.

    Gman Thanks for your demo. I purchased one but had no idea how to put it on. You did a great job from beginning to end. Can you wear these things in the rain? No real instructions with mine.

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have wore them fishing in the rain and it did not deployed. As long as the yellow pill does not get submerged it is fine.

    What is the purpose of the blue web closed end strap??? Great video, thanks!

    • @GmanfromTexas

      The blue strap is where the kill switch gets hooked on to.

    I just got one and it is easy to wear.But I can’t figure out what the Blue strap is for or how to use that.

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The blue strap is to secure the kill switch lanyard. I know they put it on the left and most boats have the kill switch on the right but that’s what it’s for.

    Good video, G !
    Do you know, How it can be made into a Manual jacket, still inflating when you pull the cord??
    You mention it, but..
    If you take out the dissolving bobbin, doesn't that mean the CO2 cartridge will deploy as soon as it is installed??
    If it works differently, I am confused.
    Thx for any insight.
    (My friend bought a Manual jacket, that deploys automatically.
    That is not what she wanted. On Amazon, they all come with the Bobbin deal. Huh?)

    • @bubblerings
      @bubblerings 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People doing stand-up paddle boarding do not want it deployed every time it gets wet. 🤔😲

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was thinking the exact same thing this week. I’m in Miami and need a vest that does not deploy automatically for the Florida keys. I wasn’t sure if removing the bobbin does the job. I think I might do a video on that when I return to Texas

  • @rodgero

    Nice review. Why isn't it approved by the US Coastguard?

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t really know why it is not CG certified. It uses the same air cylinders as the name brand vests. They fit me well and they are comfortable on hot days. As you saw I tried it in my pool and it worked. I did it twice to get a good video and both times worked well. My only gripe is that the kill switch lanyard loop is on the wrong side so the lanyard sits across my stomach while I drive.

    Very good video. I was thinking of getting one for my autistic son to wear when we are visiting my parents cottage on a canal for safety purposes.

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that is a great idea. The child will not be too restricted as with a full vest and the unit works, I tested it twice.

    What is its purpose?

    Great video, thank you. I have a couple of questions. Is the dissolving cartridge a standard component used across all brands of inflatable PFDs or are the deployment mechanisms brand specific? I ask because it weaves into my next question, where can the replacement components be purchased?

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply I don't know why youtube sends some comments into a hold section. Anyway you've asked the 64K question. I have not been able to get a straight answer from many retailers about compatibility. I know that the size of the threaded cylinder has to be exact and there are about three different sizes on the market. As far as the dissolving pill goes I'm not sure. The have tabs that must match the socket where it fits into . Here is the link to the one that fits mine:

    Very good video. I just bought one, so it's great to see it in action.
    I was going to order more until I learned that they are not Coast Guard approved, which is something they check in my area. So I still have to carry a uscg approved pfd besides that one, but it IS legal to use. And, as you proved, it is very effective and a great value.
    I ended up ordering more of this type (different brand), but bit the bullet and spent another $30 each for the same thing in an approved version.
    I hated doing that because the Eyeson is Solas approved, which is an international standard. Ugh.
    Thanks again for taking the time and spending the money on a rearming kit. Gives me peace of mind.

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay I didn't see your comment before. You are right it is not USCG approved but I carry an approved vest type on the boat and a throw-able and that's all that is required in Texas

      The blue strap is to hook the kill switch para cord. I don't know why it is on the left side since most steering is on the right but that's what it's for.

    What happens if bobbin installed the wrong way?

    • @GmanfromTexas
      @GmanfromTexas  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I just saw your question. I don't believe you can put the bobbin in the wrong way. as long as you fit the bobbin matching the tabs is the only way you can inserted.
