I prefer the two point sling myself, that's what we used in my unit in the Army. I like one point slings if the weapon is short and lightweight. I approve of the message you're putting out, "Use what YOU like". I constantly when training other soldiers would tell them, "what works for you is what works for you, there is no objectively better method."

Often whatever we used first and are thus innately familiar with will always be what we prefer. There is nothing wrong with that. Old instincts are hard to break.

My advice, if you don't have a way to store a large number of magazines on your body during a war, I'd advise buying a briefcase satchel bag. The one I use can easily hold several layers, each containing 3 eighteen round magazines which are easily accessible with my off hand. I doubt that this is as efficient as a thigh and/or chest rig, but this is a great solution for those who don't have any tac gear.

Agreed. Several people in my group run with those and it’s pretty effective. I myself run a chest rig, but it’s definitely an effective means of carrying mags.
A suggestion I have for anyone running a sling bag is: if you are using any other slings, place them opposite of each other. They should form an X.
This gives you several advantages: your blaster is on one side, and your ammo is on the other. You now have one hand for each. As well, I recommend putting your ammo bag on first, then placing your blaster/other gear on top. This way, your mag bag (the heaviest part) is on the bottom, and will swing less.

Slings don't have to be complicated. I use a shoulder strap from a duffel bag attached to keyrings and carabiners used as adapters to fit the clasps of the strap to the blasters' existing (and drilled in the case of the First Order Rival blaster) sling points, usually the ones on the grips as a functional 1 point sling. It's easy to use pre-existing and/or cheap materials to make a sling, especially if you're like me and have a slight aversion to actual tactical gear.

Practice, practice, practice is key. Especially switching primary to secondary, or transition drills as they are referred to. I liked the single point mounted to my vest. Started using that with my interceptor vest when carrying my issued rifle while in the Army. Was very nice especially when travelling.

Another handy feature of a single point sling is that you can undo most of it and then thread through your vest. This has the added advantage of comfort as it's the vest that's taking the weight which is then distributing through to the rest of your torso. I've found many a time my neck starts to get a bit sore if I have a blaster hanging off a sling for a little too long. The disadvantage of this method is that depending on your vest it can then be a little more difficult to get in and out of.
In terms of where to attach to the blaster, I've preferred hanging it by the loop at the bottom of the stryfe's grip. It's a good reference point that allows for developing a good muscle memory with picking it back up again.
I otherwise find I prefer 3 point slings over 2 (if I can't get a good balanced spot for a one point sling) but you do tend to get quite tangled up until you get used to the system.
And btw, a few slings are coming your way ;)

I have a one-point Mossy Oak sling on the back of my Prometheus. I have a small dog harness on the front feet on the left side that my left arm goes through. I have padded the back of the blaster and can shoulder it quite comfortably. Now I can actually aim the blaster. Like I always tell people, "Aim with your eyes, not your balls!"

I pretty much always run a one point sling for nerf. One of the big selling points for two-point and three-point slings is weight distribution. Simply put a heavy gun will will become uncomfortable very quickly on a single point sling. Not so much for the other types. Wait really is not a problem for our plastic blasters.

  • @anneliseolsen6896

If I may add? The one-point sling using the bandolier thingie can be done in another way. Clip one of the carabiner thingies into the mounting ring thingie for the other. Then use the lanyard-/sling mount in the handle to clip on the free carabiner thingie.

I personally use a one point sling because it’s out of the way and I never find that I need to stow and run, if I’m running craps hit the fan and fighting is the least of my worries, my worries is get to a point that I can reload, clear the jam, or switch blasters. Plus I use a hammershot so it’s not terrible to hold my blaster with one hand and fire with the other but again CHTF if I’m running and my goal is to get my primary working and pointed in the right direction (preferably with the selector switch in fun mode).

    Two questions:
1: Are you going to make a video on various holsters as well?
2: If I (or anyone for that matter both fans and companies) were to send you entire suits of gear, blasters included, would you consider reviewing it? Maybe give your thoughts and opinions, as well as how you would change it to make it better. I feel that with your experience and knowledge you could give some good feedback and possibly point things out that we lesser experienced might have missed. Also who knows, maybe you'll discover something and could adopt it into your loadouts.

Slings aren't really something I've had much dealing with in the past. For LARP I'm pretty much exclusively melee/archer, and in Assassin games blasters are almost always concealed carry. In NERF shoot outs, I usually just leave my Vulcan where it is and switch to my Barrel Break if I have to move xD [yeah I know they're rubbish blasters. yes I do have access to better ones. yes, I use them because they're fun, not effective].

I primarily use one point slings. The only issue I have is if I need to let my primary hang for any reason during combat (pulling a sidearm, throwing a grenade, switching ammo types for specials). I can't take a knee or bend over without the muzzle of my primary hitting the ground. Otherwise I love them. Would be less problematic with shorter primaries however.

I swear by quick-release two-point slings. I tighten them way up so the flopping isn't too bad, and when I need to draw my primary I just undo one buckle and suddenly the sling is 30 times the needed length. And really, you're using your primary most of the time, so if you need to quick-draw something that's supposed to already be in your hands, you've got more serious problems to deal with. Maybe that jam that made you unable to use your primary, or you should have been keeping an ear out.

    • @CaptainXavier
      @CaptainXavier  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yup, there are plenty of reasons why you may need to switch weapons in a hurry (jams, out of ammo, need a special ammo type that is in your secondary, etc) best to have that option available if possible.

I have what is, in all honestly, a dumb question. So, would it be possible, and effective, to have a sling that you could in theory, rotate your primary to your back, and then pull a blaster on your back to be your new primary? So your sling would be holding a blaster on your back for you to pull forward if your primary goes down and you don't want to use your sidearm, while also holding your normal primary blaster.
Yea, this sounds cooler in my head but I'm also trying to figure out how to effectively hold a blaster on my back if I need to switch for whatever reason. I feel like having a Stryfe as a sidearm would solve this problem, but that's also bulk. I've finally found a place to nerf at and trying to put together my loadout.
