Good to see ppl still making content for this game, fell in love for it in 2023, one of the best magic systems ever. Cant wait for outward 2, some day this game is gonna be a cult classic.

Spellblade seems more like a support tree for some the other skill trees, because it seems to amplify MOST of their skills, at least in the base game. The cool thing though is the synergy between Spellblade and Rune Sage. The Imbues from Runic Prefix work just fine with Elemental Discharge without using up a Boon. Spellblade`s Awakening basically gives you three free points to spend on mana at the Ley Line, and boosts your mana by an additional 15. Add that to the Rune Sages Well of Mana, and you have a decent amount without sacrificing your base stats and compromising your character. Of course Steady Arm makes your melee with your Runic Blades that much better, and Fitness should be mandatory on pretty much any build. Elemental Discharge now lets you shoot either Lightning OR Decay bolts depending on which Runic Blade you are using.
I usually like to go either Monk or Hex Mage for the third tree depending on how tanky I want to be in melee, or if I want to use fewer potions and play as more of a mage.
Master of Motion and Runic Protection together give 3 Protection, 20 physical resistance, 20 resistance to ALL types of elemental damage, and 10 Impact resistance. That`s pretty much on par with most of the better armor in the game, before you even put any on. I usually go for Counter Strike as the weapon skill because it doesn't use up the Discipline Boon that Master of Motion relies on. Pickup Puncture and Pommel Counter from Burac at the gate and you can now fight effectively at any range. Those Imbues actually make the Runic Blades very high damage, though they don't have much impact. Add in Boons, Gear, and Enchantments and you can get stupid high damage on them, not to mention your other abilities.

I haven’t tested it out just yet. I am working on a new build, but I will test it out and see if I can come up with a new build with those skill trees

Thanks for the great idea, I haven’t seen a lot of build ideas with the Spellblade tree - it’s basically the tree the game tricks you into getting because nobody explains in game how breakthrough points work. So here I am considering restarting a new character because I accidentally spent my first point there; and here you’ve described a viable build option that doesn’t sound too bad at all.
Going to give it a shot. Tyvm

The Shield Charge skill also blocks attacks as though you were blocking during its animation, which is a very nice feature.
As for the Imbue skills, they are VERY strong and will give you the highest possible ceiling for damage using their respective elements using weapons, and also helping you inflict debuffs(Burning and Slow Down). The downside is they consume boons, requiring you to use Call to Elements, Cooldown reduction, etc. to sustainably keep them active and also benefit from a boon that synergizes well. Either that or consumables. If you can't do that, you'd be better off with keeping your boon and using a rag. Infuse Light skill has a similar issue.
The Unlock is actually pretty decent for a passive. You can negate the cost of 3 pips of sacrifice to the ley line. You'd get 45 Mana if you do that, +40 more with peacemaker and thats a very respectable amount of mana for most non-specialized magic builds. Preserving your Stamina is the biggest impact here, but also keeping your health is not unnoticeable. Its not a flashy upgrade, but its more useful than it seems.
Elemental Discharge is a very nice skill, especially for mages. Just a straightforward blast with decent damage and impact that has good range, low cooldown, and can be done outside of a sigil. Requires an active imbue which can be done with rags even and allows for flexible damage types. Its main downside is the durability cost which means this has more limited use on actual melee focused playstyles. No downsides for pure casters.
Gong Strike takes away your infusion, which is almost always a bad thing unless it was gonna run out anyway. The effect is ok, but most people agree its not good enough for what it costs.
This is one of my favorite trees because of the convenience of just blasting and having strong elemental melee attacks for a magic user, but I don't think I every played it as a hybrid and enjoyed it. IMO, it pairs well with Hex Mage skills to give you a direct damage option on top of your hexing and detonating. Also gives your rainbow hex saber much more of a sting and allows you to capitalize on your debuffs much more with the added elemental damage. It pairs well with Speedster to create an Elemental Discharge spammer and lowering cooldowns to the point you have no difficulty cycling your boons and Imbues(this goes hard with fire damage). Its great to add a range option to Rune Sage that isn't Lightning and can use Rune Sage's enhanced summoned weapons to power Elemental Discharge for convenient blasting options. In general, just allowing Mages to be much more dangerous up close is more useful than it sounds. The Imbue damage can keep a weapon relevant even at zero durability especially if you have high elemental damage bonuses. Fire Mages know what I mean(its just very easy to buff fire damage). Anyway, the tree has a lot of synergy. Not the MVP tree, but it holds its own.

The breakthrough stat increase is nice but the frost or fire infuse could be done with rags... still for the base game you dont have to min/max your builds 😅

I think the mystic fire and frost imbue are a better version of the rags, and I think they are better than the varnishes if your base damage is higher than 4.4, which includes all the weapons that I could find on the wiki. But I think you're right in that this skill tree doesn't seem to give the same amount of power that some of the other skill trees give.
